The mission of RCI Nurse Aide Program is to prepare the student to be able to provide exceptional, high quality and compassionate care for patients and residents in any health care setting.

This packet provides you with information about the class, how to register, tuition, the National Certification Exam, and other related costs while attending the program.
What this class will offer you…
This class will provide you with 80 hours of class instruction and 40 hours of clinical instruction. This training will instill the knowledge and skills needed to care for those whose lives
depend on others in order to meet their daily needs. As people are living longer and requiring extended health care to aide in the care and management of chronic illnesses, there are many job opportunities for Nursing Aides. The areas of employment include:

In order to register for this course, simply: 1. Complete the application
2. Submit the $350 deposit
This course fills up quickly so I strongly suggest you to register as soon as possible. Seats are limited. Contact the Program Director at 804-874-0814 if you need to set up a Payment Installment Plan. You must pay at least a $350 nonrefundable deposit to hold your place in the class.
Admission Requirements
16 years of age or older and currently enrolled in High School with 2.0 GPA
or
High School Diploma / GED
If you are 16 years of age or older and do not meet any of the above criteria, don’t
worry! You have the option to take a placement survey, which analyzes your basic
knowledge of:
Mathematics
English
Reading Comprehension
You will need at least a 8th grade reading level. I recommend that you score 70% or
Criminal Background Check / Drug Screening
It is mandatory for each applicant to submit to a criminal background check that will be kept in their files. When warranted each student may need to submit to a drug
screening at the discretion of the Program Director and/or nursing home management staff. The healthcare setting is dedicated to the safety of patients and the clinical site may request a criminal background check and/or drug screening. A misdemeanor or felony conviction may result in a student being unable to attend clinical. Without the clinical experience you will not be eligible to take the National Certification Exam. Certain criminal convictions may prevent licensure as a nurse or certification as a nurse aide in Virginia. Criminal convictions may also prohibit employment in certain health care settings. Royal Career Institute demands that each student submit to a criminal background check to have on their student file. Be aware that there are no refunds

Dress Code and Uniform
There is a dress code required for clinical rotations. You will be provided with a royal blue uniform. You are expected to provide your own white shoes and a watch with a second hand. You may not wear artificial nails, nail tips, or acrylic nails during your clinical rotation. Tattoos should be covered when possible. Jewelry will be limited to
ONLY a wedding band set, a watch that shows seconds and minutes, and no more than
two pairs of small stud earrings. Loop earrings and necklaces are prohibited. Pierced jewelry may be worn on the ears only. All other visible body piercings must be removed when in the clinical setting.
Required Health Information
In order to be in the Nursing Home setting all students must have shown proof of a negative Tuberculin Skin Test or negative Chest XRAY and submitted a completed health assessment form. You will not be allowed to start clinical until the
Student Performance Expectations
Royal Career Institute is committed to helping you reach your goals and achieve your dreams. As the RCI Student you must be willing to do the work necessary to be
deserving of your certification. Nothing worth having is easy to obtain. Nursing Aide Certification will take determination as well as commitment. You will be expected to attend every class, skills lab, and clinical. Unexcused absences and tardiness will not be tolerated. Your Certification is a privilege and you are required to be present for all aspects of this program.
The passing standard is 80% or above on all quizzes and the final exam. All skills listed in the Virginia Nurse Aide Candidate Handbook will be performed with 100% accuracy. In the clinical setting you are expected to demonstrate respect, truthfulness, reliability, timeliness and good judgment in providing safe and effective care to residents. You must complete at least 40 hours and perform satisfactorily to receive full credit.
Your tuition costs are non-refundable. Take advantage of each and every learning
opportunity you will be given in this program and I guarantee you will be successful.
Technical Standards for Nurse Aide Students
Students entering the nurse aide program must possess the physical ability to: 1. Aid in the lifting and moving of patients/residents.
2. Hear audible alarms and sounds.
3. Listen and interpret certain physical parameters – such as blood pressure, heart and lung sounds.
4. Interact effectively with patients/residents, families and health care team members.
The nurse aide student should be able to have:
1. Sufficient eyesight to observe patients/residents, read records, manipulate equipment, and visually monitor patients/residents in dim light.
2. Sufficient hearing to communicate with patients/residents and members of the health care delivery team, monitor patients/residents using electronic
equipment, and hear necessary sounds during operation of equipment.
3. Satisfactory speaking, reading and writing skills to effectively communicate in English in a timely manner.
4. Sufficient gross and fine motor coordination to manipulate equipment, lift, stoop or bend in the delivery of safe nursing care.
6. Satisfactory intellectual and emotional functional to ensure patient safety and to exercise independent judgment and discretion in performing assigned tasks.

5. Student Performance Expectations
Attendance: Unexcused absences and tardiness will not be tolerated. Your Certification is a privilege
and you are required to be present for all aspects of this program. More than 2 unexcused absences from class, skills lab, or clinical may result in failure of the program.
Class/Skills Lab: The passing standard is 80% or above on all quizzes and the final exam. All skills

Clinical: In the clinical setting you are expected to demonstrate respect, truthfulness, reliability,

6. Program Tuition Policy
The cost of tuition is determined by Royal Career Institute, LLC. Payment in full is due upon registration to the course. RCI will accept a nonrefundable deposit of $350.00 to hold your space in the
program. The remaining balance is due the first day of class. Based on student need you may set up a
Payment Installment Plan for the remaining balance prior to the first day of class.
After you begin the first day of class NO PORTION of the tuition is refundable.
By signing you agree that you have both read and understand ALL above statements and acknowledge that failure to adhere to the policy standards is grounds for a Nonrefundable dismissal from the program.
