Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ, Welcome Home!

Like you, I am hoping for a bit of “normal” to return in the Fall and Winter of 2020, but like you, I have no idea what these months will hold. There’s a saying we have heard over the past few months, and it’s this; “we’re in this together.” Every time I have heard

that I’ve thought to myself that while we may be in it together, that

“together” includes the realization we need to try to accomplish that six feet apart!

This kind of thinking goes so against what the church of Jesus Christ is all about. Of all people, we should be appreciative of the fact that we are “better together,” but then again, we are reminded on a daily basis not to be “too together.”

At times my brain not only hurts, but my heart does too.

If there is ever a time, we need the fellowship and love of one another, it’s this day we live in! For a few months, we knew what it was like to feel “quarantine,” and quite frankly, I am not a fan!

Anyway, we are gathering back together, and this is something we need to do as the body of Christ! We need each other for both emotional and spiritual support.

While many are still not quite ready to get back into our church physically, I would encourage you to stay connected as much as possible, even if it is online or from our parking lot.

We have heard it many times even before this pandemic, but we are reminded once again… “the church is not a building.” While this is true, there is something quite compelling about meeting together where Jesus Christ is present – Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity. Our Church is more than a building.

Wherever you are … here we are a family … welcome back … welcome home!

Spirituality Schedule Summer

The Fall Festival taking place Sunday, September 27th.

Thank you to Jim and Kathy Schuman who have taken on the responsibility as Co-Chairs of the BBQ Chicken Dinner. Many hands make light work, so please contact them if you are able to help – or check the sign-up sheet in the entrance of our parish. (Even Fr. Tim’s Mom is helping out this year by making her award-winning Baked Beans)!

Arm’s Length Raffle

Arm’s Length Raffle will be happening – although a bit differently. If you have items to donate, you can begin to drop them off in the entrance of the Church. Ideally, bring them on Sunday after Mass or Wednesday (9am – 7pm) Please mark accordingly.

Raffle Tickets

Thank you for picking up and selling Raffle Tickets – they are available in the entrance of the Church. If you need yours mailed, please call the office at 932-3294.

Chicken Dinner Tickets

Because the Chicken Dinner will be a drive-up (and possible walk-up) after Mass, we will be pre-selling tickets to plan ahead. Watch for ticket sales after Mass or at the parish office beginning next weekend.

Fall Festival

Rochester Rosary Rallies

Please join us in public prayer for our state and country’s elections, conversion, and peace on the Sundays leading up to the elections. These rallies will be held near the Rochester Government Center at the corner of 4th St. SE and 3rd Ave. SE at 3pm, the Divine Mercy Hour, with the exception* of Saturday, October 10 @ 12 noon in front of Planned Parenthood in Rochester. We encourage all to step out in faith and courage to publicly pray for our state and country. Bring your families and friends. If you are ever unable to join us physically, please consider joining us spiritually by praying a Holy Rosary and Divine Mercy Chaplet from wherever you are. Annual Holy Land Collection

In early April Rome released a letter moving the Holy Land collection, which normally takes place on Good Friday, be moved to Sunday, Sept. 13, 2020. The Christian communities in the Holy Land, also exposed to the risk of Covid19, benefit every year from the generosity of the faithful from all over the world. This solidarity enable them to continue their evangelical presence, in addition to maintaining schools and social structures that assist all citizens with healthcare, education and peaceful coexistence, attending above all to the weakest and poorest

“Soles for Souls” Shoe Collection

Together with the Lions Club we will again participate in the “Soles for Souls” Collection beginning September 6 and ending October 25.

Please rubber band together any style of shoe and drop off at St Charles Borromeo Church Commons Area. Note: If you have more than 10 pairs of shoes, please contact Charlie Meyer at 507-450-6233 for drop off information.

Reading EZ 33:7-9 Thus says the Lord:

You, son of man, I have appointed watchman for the house of Israel;

when you hear me say anything, you shall warn them for me. If I tell the wicked, “O wicked one, you shall surely die,”

and you do not speak out to dissuade the wicked from his way,

the wicked shall die for his guilt,

but I will hold you responsible for his death.

Creed

I believe in one God, the Father almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all things visible and invisible.

I believe in one Lord Jesus Christ, the Only Begotten Son of God, born of the Father before all ages. God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, consubstantial with the Father; through him all things were made.

For us men and for our salvation he came down from heaven, and by the Holy Spirit was incarnate of the Virgin Mary, and became man.

For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate, he suffered death and was buried, and rose again on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures. He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead and his kingdom will have no end.

I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son, who with the Father and the Son is adored and glorified, who has spoken through the prophets.

I believe in one, holy, catholic and apostolic Church. I confess one Baptism for the forgiveness of sins and I look forward to the resurrection of the dead and the life of the world to come. Amen

Prayer of Spiritual Communion

My Jesus, I believe that you are truly present in the Most Blessed Sacrament. I love You above all things and I desire to possess You within my soul. Since I am unable at this moment to receive You sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart. I embrace You as being already there and unite myself wholly to You. Never permit me to be separated from You. Amen.

If he listens to you, you have won over your brother.

take one or two others along with you, so that ‘every fact may be established on the testimony of two or three witnesses.’

If he refuses to listen to them, tell the church.

If he refuses to listen even to the church,

then treat him as you would a Gentile or a tax collector.

Amen, I say to you,

whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.

about anything for which they are to pray,

Faith Formation is Changing

Due to Covid-19 we have made modifications to our Faith Formation program to support our parish families in keeping Christ the center of their Domestic Church.

The term “Domestic Church” refers to the family, the smallest body of gathered believers in Christ.

Though a seemingly recent term, it dates all the way back to the first century AD. Our Early Church Fathers understood that the home was fertile ground for discipleship, sanctification, and holiness. It may not seem like a blessing, but

Faith Formation Teachers Needed

The Faith Formation Teacher is a person of faith who leads others in understanding the faith teachings according to the official teachings of the Church, the Catechism of the Catholic Church. The role of this teacher is a vital ministry to our parishes. It is a gift that has tremendous value to our community at large because through the teacher’s word and action, the message of Christ continues to have a place in all human affairs.

The primary goal of a Faith Formation Teacher is to model God’s love to others. As a result, the primary requisite of a teacher is a love for God and a love for children. The teacher passes on to students a set of shared meanings and values that are Catholic and Christian.

Covid-19 has been a catalyst to family togetherness and an opportunity for holiness. As we launch our program, please note that while we plan on having Faith Formation for the entire school year, we are currently only scheduling through December 2020. The remainder of the calendar year will be sent out in December.

Holy Redeemer and St. Charles Borromeo will be combined for all Faith Formation classes to be held at St. Charles Borromeo.

FAITH

Is YOURS a Fixer Upper? Rebuild it, with the Alpha Course! Alpha is a series of sessions exploring our Christian Faith, run over several weeks. Each

presentation looks at a different question around faith and is designed to create conversation. Alpha is run all around the globe and everyone is welcome ( you do not have to be a member

of Redeemer Saints to participate). Our Fall course will be held every other Thursday evening beginning October 1 st . At this point, it is our plan to have our gatherings both in person and online (at the same time). Sign-up sheets will appear in the Commons or the Gathering Spaces of

our parishes beginning the weekend of September 5th and 6th.
