Update firmware from embedded GUI.

Procedure of upgrade firmware/boot code An alternative upgrade method (from boot-utility)
1. Check firmware version
Please check the current firmware/boot code version before beginning this upgrade. If it is the latest version, you will not need to update the firmware/boot code.
1. Power on RAID system and take few minutes to boot up. (when system ready, LCD displays as below)
2. Press button EXT and system will ask a password.
3. Press DOWN and ENT to key in password (default is four zeros) and press ENT to open menu.
4. Press UP and DOWN to select [System Info], press ENT to select [Firmware version]/[Boot Code] to see current firmware/boot code version.
2. Preparations
1. Download and unzip the latest firmware/boot code from web-site http://www.maxtronic.com/fw-download.
2. An Ethernet cable to connect between LAN port and a computer. 3. A standard browser on a computer.
3. Procedure of upgrade firmware
1. Press ENT and DOWN simultaneously and IP address of LAN port will appear.
2. Open a browser and key in the IP address to open GUI console.
3. Click [System management]>[Firmware Update] on the left menu and click system F/W or boot code to upgrade firmware or boot code.
4. Click Browser button to select correct firmware/boot code file and follow the on-screen instructions to upgrade.
5. Restart RAID system to make it effective.

An alternative upgrade method (from boot-utility)
Boot-utility is a terminal mode utility run via COM port and which could upgrade firmware/boot code from tftp utility by through LAN port.

Preparations
Procedure of upgrade firmware/boot code
1. Preparations
A. Download and unzip the latest firmware/boot code from web-site http://www.maxtronic.com/fw-download.
B. Computer includes a Serial COM and LAN ports.
C. Serial cable (null cable) to connect COM ports between RAID and computer; RJ45 cross-cable (or through a hub/switch) for LAN ports.
D. Terminal (e.g. hyper terminal) and tftp utility (e.g. Tftp).
2. Procedure of upgrade firmware/boot code
A. Connect serial cable to COM port and connect Ethernet cable to LAN port between computer and RAID system (as the Figure-1)
B. Setting the IP address (10.10.4.85) of LAN of the computer, run tftp utility and select the directory where firmware/boot code file is.
C. In the computer, run and configure terminal utility as below: - Baud rate: 115200
- Data bits: 8 - Parity: None - Stop bits: 1
- Flow Control: None
D. Power on RAID system and start memory test procedure in the terminal console.

F. Press <N> to set IP address for the terminal console server and RAID system Local IP address (RAID system): 10.10.4.88
Server IP address (Computer): 10.10.4.85
G. Press <L> and then input the firmware file name (e.g. AX89320), then press Enter to start firmware uploading to RAID system.
H. Press <S> and <Y> to start upgrading new firmware (press <B> and <Y> to upgrading new boot code) to RAID system.
* Note: There are dual Flash ROMs, a main ROM and a backup ROM on the RAID system to avoid firmware upgrade fail or single ROM defect.
