Readings for July 11th

First Reading: Amos 7:12-15

Amaziah (priest of Bethel) ordered Amos to leave Bethel and never prophesy there again. Amos replied that he had not been a prophet, but was a shepherd until he was called by God.

Second Reading: Ephesians 1:3-14 or 1:3-10

Paul exults God’s immeasurable generosity as he recounts all the blessings that have been bestowed upon all God’s people. We all became adopted children of God when we heard the message of truth Christ brought to us, and be-cause of it, believed in him.

Gospel: Mark 6:7-13

Jesus gave the twelve disciples authority over unclean spirits and sent them out to preach and heal the sick. He advised them to bring nothing with them and to shake the dust from their feet of any town where they had not been welcomed. Jesus wanted them to understand what they would need to do in his place after his death.

“ I am not my own. I have given myself to Jesus, he must be my only love”

Feast Day: July 14th

Patron of: The Environment

and Ecology

Winter brings darkness, cold, and sometimes a great deal of snow. The lack of sunlight and the monotony of

our days can cause many people to lose hope. Yet Jesus promises to be our light and our salvation. He

prom-ises to guide our paths and that the darkness will not overcome us. In Eucharistic Adoration we come before

the Lord of Heaven and Earth, the Lord who was not afraid to stand as a light in the darkness. He remains

with us to strengthen our hearts to persevere when all appears dark and we feel lost. He remains with His

children to remind them “The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.”—John 1:5

The Investiture as Ecclesiastical Knights of Grace

Join us on Sunday, August 1st at the Noon Mass as Father Brighenti and Father Trigilio will be invested into Sacred Military Constantinian Order of St. George and the Royal Order of St. Francis.

Did you know that there is a

blessing for your Pregnancy?

The Church welcomes with joy and compassion the mothers who, recognizing that all life is a gift from

God, come to the Church seeking a blessing for their unborn child. Such a blessing imparts grace and

comfort to the family and unites the parish in prayer for the unborn child.

To schedule a blessing please contact

our Parish Office (908) 751-1723.

Did you know that every day before daily Mass, a group of dedicated parishioners gather in the

Church to pray the Rosary for all the intentions of our parish. When we pray the Rosary, we have

Mary, the Holy Mother of God, intercede for us and for our intentions. All parishioners are invited

to add intentions to the prayer intention box located outside the Chapel.

If you would like to join us in prayer, please come to the Church at 7:30 am. If you are not able to

attend, please pray the Rosary on your own for all the intentions placed in the box.

Prayer of Spiritual Communion

My Jesus, I believe that you are

present in the most Blessed Sacrament.

I love You above all things and I desire

to receive you into my soul.

Since I cannot now receive You sacramentally,

come at least spiritually into my heart.

I embrace You as if You have already come, and unite

myself wholly to You.

Never permit me to be separated

from You. Amen.

Parish Life

Stewardship Corner

“He instructed them to take nothing for the journey but a walking stick – no food, no sack, no money in their belts.” MARK 6:8 Imagine taking nothing but a stick when you go on a trip. The Apostles must have really trusted in God’s providential

care. Think of all the material things “we can’t live without” in today’s world. We make our life’s journey more difficult because of all the material baggage that we drag along. Putting God first in everything and putting our money and possessions second gives us freedom because we don’t become “slaves” to wanting to acquire more things.

Bells at the Consecration

By: Msgr. William King

Catholic worship excites the senses with movement and color, incense and music — the

“smells and bells” of tradition. This is because we bring the entirety of ourselves to

pray-er: body and soul. Posture marks the solemnity and reverence of certain moments — for

instance, standing at the proclamation of the Gospel and kneeling for the consecration.

Music enhances our participation as well, bringing the assembly’s voices together in unity

as the People of God come together in divine worship.

Three factors historically led to a certain distance or disconnect between the actions of

the priest during parts of the Mass and the actions of the people: language, posture and

acoustics. Over the centuries Latin became increasingly less understood by most people.

The priest stood at the altar facing the same direction as the people and, in some

church-es, monasteries and cathedrals where the altar was a good distance from the pews,

acoustics simply did not allow the congregation to hear the words spoken at the altar.

People were still active in prayer during the Mass, but very often, especially in more

sol-emn celebrations, the choir sang extended settings of the acclamations —

the Sanctus and Agnus Dei, for example — while the priest had already moved on to

oth-er texts. And sometimes the congregation was involved in private prayoth-er (reciting the

Ro-sary or prayers from the missal) even as the choir sang and the priest prayed the Mass

parts.

Around our Diocese

A statement from the USCCB (United States Conference of Catholic Bishops) regarding the Covid Vaccine. Abp Naumann and Bp Rhoades issued a statement as the chairs of the relevant USCCB commiƩees:

“Pfizer and Moderna’s vaccines raised concerns because an abortion-derived cell line was used for testing them, but not in their produc-tion. The Johnson & Johnson vaccine, however, was developed, tested and is produced with abortion-derived cell lines raising additional moral concerns. The Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith has judged that ‘when ethically irreproachable Covid-19 vaccines are not available … it is morally acceptable to receive Covid-19 vaccines that have used cell lines from aborted fetuses in their research and production process.’[1] However, if one can choose among equally safe and effective COVID-19 vaccines, the vaccine with the least connection to abortion-derived cell lines should be chosen. Therefore, if one has the ability to choose a vaccine, Pfizer or Moderna’s vaccines should be chosen over Johnson & Johnson’s.

“While we should continue to insist that pharmaceutical companies stop using abortion-derived cell lines, given the world-wide suffering that this pandemic is causing, we affirm again that being vaccinated can be an act of charity that serves the common good.”

Vaccine InformaƟon from the NaƟonal Catholic Bioethics Center

“If one can choose among equally safe and effective COVID-19 vaccines, the vaccine with the least connection to abortion-derived cell lines should be chosen. Therefore, if one has the ability to choose a vaccine, Pfizer or Moderna’s vaccines should be chosen over Johnson & Johnson’s,” Bishop Kevin Rhoades of Fort Wayne-South Bend, chairman of the USCCB Committee on Doctrine; and Archbishop Joseph Naumann of Kansas City in Kansas, chairman of the USCCB Committee on Pro-Life Activities said in a statement Tuesday.

“While we should continue to insist that pharmaceutical companies stop using abortion-derived cell lines, given the world-wide suffering that this pandemic is causing, we affirm again that being vaccinated can be an act of charity that serves the common good,” they continued.

Joseph Meaney, the president of the National Catholic Bioethics Center, told Crux it’s unlikely a 100 percent ethical vaccine will be available in the United States any time soon. Until there is, he emphasized the importance of moral discernment.

“If you really need this vaccine, you’re in terribly fragile health, you’re surrounded by other people in very difficult health, you’re in a position where you’re very likely to catch the disease, you have all kinds of different factors that are part of the moral dis-cernment and the only vaccine that is available to you is the Johnson & Johnson, it can be moral to take that one,” Meaney said.

For more informaƟon and arƟcles about the vaccine please visit our website.

Stop Your Tax Dollars from Paying for Abortions

A serious effort is underway in Congress to force all taxpayers to pay for elective abortions. The Hyde Amendment and other similar laws have long protected taxpayers from funding elective abortions.

Now, powerful members of Congress want to get rid of these laws, which have been supported by both Democrats and Republicans for 45 years.

Without the Hyde Amendment and related policies, billions of taxpayer dollars could be used to pay for abortion in the United States and throughout the world. Don’t let our government make you pay for the taking of innocent human life.

Contact Congress and tell them to keep the Hyde Amendment and related policies and to oppose any bill that expands taxpayer funding of abortion. Visit: https://www.votervoice.net/USCCB/home

Liturgia de la Palabra Primera Lectura: Amós 7:12-15

Segunda Lectura: Efesios 1:3-14 or 1:3-10
