the full circle of life under the proud eye of birds

my country is for peace so says the veld where reptiles caress

its surface with elegant motions glittering in their pride

My country is for joy

so talk the mountains with baboons

hopping from boulder to boulder in the majestic delight

of cliffs and peaks

My country is for health and wealth see the blue of the sea

and beneath the jewels of fish deep under the bowels of soil

hear the golden voice of miner's praise for my country

their hands are joined together there is hope in their eyes

ADDENDUM A

How do you see Lwandla City in 2030?

Shaping an effective long-term vision and strategy for Lwandla City relies on your input. Please tell us what you think that vision and strategy should be.

Write your ideas down in the 'thought bubble' on this page and drop it into the Lwandla City 2030 box at a municipal office or library; post your ideas on Facebook or Twitter, or comment via the Lwandla City 2030 webpage on the City's website or e-mail.

In 2015, more people now live in cities than in rural areas than ever before.

People move to cities to create a better life for themselves and their families.

As more people move into the city, the changes happen at a much faster pace.

The questions are: What will Lwandla City look like? What could living in Lwandla City be like in 15 years' time?

As cities become more important for gaining access to better social and economic resources, they must plan ahead in order to attract investment and provide opportunities. Opportunities are central to communities and households' ability to build a better future.

Cities provide the infrastructure that makes possible economic development and employment, and deliver the services central to bringing about social upliftment.

Cities have also become central to meeting challenges such as global warming and climate change, where municipal policies and practices have a big impact.

Lwandla City today is the result of more than 350 years of planning and development.

We all need to think about Lwandla City of the future.

Your input is very important.

The City needs your inputs to help develop a long-term vision and strategy for Lwandla City 2030. This is an exciting opportunity and we encourage you to give us your thoughts and ideas.

The City has developed several ways for you to make your contribution. Below you will find a thought bubble. Use it to write down or draw your thoughts or ideas. Then cut it out and drop it off at one of the selected municipal offices and libraries listed below.

(9)

You can also engage using electronic and social media. For example, take a picture of your thought bubble with your mobile phone and post it to Lwandla City 2030 on Facebook or Twitter. Alternatively, e-mail or visit the City's Lwandla 2030 webpage, Facebook and Twitter pages and give us your ideas.

In thinking about Lwandla City and surrounds in 2030, please consider:

• Future housing, communities, food

• Future work, business, skills

• Future transport

• Future leisure

• Future energy sources

• Future interactions between citizens and City leaders

• Your role in future Lwandla.

Your participation is very important in helping shape what Lwandla City will be like in 15 years' time as a place to live, work, study and do business, as well as relax and play in.

So, please contribute for everyone's sake – yourself, your children and the special city in which you live. Thank you in advance and the City looks forward to receiving your inputs!
