Chair's Corner

Hello Red Bluff! The best advice that I can give to those that want to stay on top of all of the events that are coming to Red Bluff in the coming weeks is to get connected, if you haven’t already, with the Chamber Facebook page. That is where you will find all of the events that are coming down the pike in the coming weeks and months. As the mask mandates are being lifted, more and more businesses are scheduling their ribbon cuttings and other grand opening festivities that have been postponed for over a year. Just this past week we had ribbon cuttings at Antelope Automotive, which just moved over to the old Tucker Automotive location and Kanela’s Café on Main St right next to Re/Max. Since I mentioned Re/Max, I wanted to congratulate Tyler and Vici Miranda for their recent acquisition of that company from Ken Robison. All of us at the Chamber wish you the best of luck on this endeavor. Watch your Chamber calendar for some up coming ribbon cuttings, including one coming at Summit Funding on Friday, June 4th at 11AM where they’ll be catering lunch from A&R Meats.

The Active 20-30 Club is at it again providing us with fun activities to get us out of the house after work. Aside form the Co-Ed Cornhole Tournament they have coming up on Saturday, June 5th at E’s Locker Room, they are starting a Cornhole league as well, which I believe starts the following week and is also out at E’s. This league will run through early August. Call Sean Rix at State Farm for more details. The Brew Battle has officially been given the go ahead, so prepare yourself for that. It’s coming in August and is sure to be an event for the ages since it got shelved last year. Courtny Abbassi from Bud’s Jolly Kone is heading this up, so if you’re interested in sponsoring, contact her or anyone else in the 20-30 Club. Since I mentioned BJK, I thought I should admit that I finally ate there for the 1st time just a couple days ago. I’m almost ashamed to admit this considering I’ve worked in Tehama County since July of 2003. I really don’t know how this is possible. It was epic…not sure if I liked the taco or the double cheeseburger better so I’ll need to go back again soon to try to figure that out. I also wanted to discuss a more serious topic, and that is employment. Amber and I went by Ikkyu last night for dinner and were surprised to hear that they are only offering takeout. This is not due to COVID, but due to them not being able to find anyone to work for them. This business came to Tehama County after they were burned out of Paradise, so they have certainly been dealt a very difficult hand. If you like sushi, I highly recommend it. This is a common theme for many employers today. It is unfortunately more attractive for potential workers to stay at home and collect unemployment these days than it is to actually earn a paycheck. Not to hop on the socio-economic political bandwagon here, but this is a sub-stantial problem with our current system. Moral of the story….if you want a job, jobs are out there. If you’re not sure how to go about getting a job, contact Lisa or Randy Hansen at Express Employment Professionals (next to Tractor Supply) and they will get you pointed in the right direction. The unemployment meal ticket won’t go on forever, so get yourself into a position to be able to succeed sooner rather than later.

All of us at the Chamber are here to support our community in any way possible. We all hope that you don’t get tired of this, but please, continue to shop local. It’s more important than ever as many of these businesses are just getting back on their feet. As I always say….we encourage you to not sit on the sidelines, come and get in the game. It’s more fun to be on the field instead of in the stands.

Online Calendar

of Events

Do you have an upcoming event this year? Please take advantage of our online event submission page. Go to www.RedBluffChamber.com and click on "have an upcoming event" and submit your information there. We receive thousands of visits to our event page on our website. We'd be happy to have your event on there too. Another month has come and gone! May went by incredibly quick, but we had so much to do around

Red Bluff and surrounding counties. The Fair of the Century was a record breaker, from the livestock to the different events that Mandy Staley and team had lined up!! We held the first outdoor concert and PRCA Rodeo in California, way to go Red Bluff - I sure am proud to say I was born and raised here!!

There were quite a few ribbon cuttings this month and many more to come in June. Congrats to all the new businesses and those that are finally able to hold their grand opening ceremonies, we appreciate you. The Active 20-30 Club of Red Bluff has a slew of cornhole events coming up, with a CO-ED Tournament

on June 5 at E’s Locker Room and then a 8-week league starting the following week at E’s Locker Room. We are lucky enough to have a lot of those same members be a part of the Chamber board and the ambassadors, thank you all.

Looking into July we are set to get busy, we will have our Fireworks Booth down by Foodmaxx, look out for a volunteer sheet here soon - along with the Farmer’s Market that will continue through summer. Then we get to celebrate our great nation's birthday and enjoy the hot summer days as they will arrive shortly. Before we know it, we will be gearing up for the winter holidays and rain! But until then let's enjoy the sunshine and outdoors!!

Thank you for your continuous support of our Chamber. We are always looking for community focused people to join the Chamber Ambassadors, please let me know if you are interested in learning more!

"Milestone Anniversaries"

I’m so excited for a great

summer! There is fantastic

momentum in the business

community here locally right

now. Over the last two months

we have had 11

ribbon-cutting‘s for new businesses,

relocating, and expanding

businesses. If you see tibbon

cuttings that you would like

to attend, come alongside and

celebrate with us - you are

invited! We might never have

this volume of ribbon cuttings

ever again, so come be a part

of the celebrations. We will

have just as many over the next

couple of months as well! It’s

exciting to see the optimism

and hope here in Red Bluff and

Tehama County!

Just the other day, we had

over 50 people attend our

Meet and Greet in front of

the old Courthouse. There

were a number of folks that

hadn’t seen each other in 14

months! So there was great

joy and everyone catching up

and talk about plans for the

future. There are greater things

to come! I hope you have a

great start to the summer and

I look forward to seeing you at

our Wednesday night Farmers

Markets!
