Degrees in Christian Studies

GCU offers a Bachelor of Arts in Christian Studies and a Master of Arts in Christian Studies with four emphases. These programs equip

learners to lead in their areas of influence, be they secular, religious, professional or personal. The programs focus on biblical and theological

knowledge, practical application of that knowledge, and the development of character and integrity in all aspects of life.

The

Bachelor of Arts in Christian Studies

utilizes biblical studies

as the foundation of understanding theology, philosophy, Christian

history and to communicate Christ to various audiences. In addition

to spiritual formation and exegetical skills essential to Christian studies,

graduates will be able to employ the communication, leadership and

organizational skills necessary for effective ministry.

The

Master of Arts in Christian Studies

is designed for individuals

desiring to lead as Christians in their arenas of influence. The program

focuses on the preparation of leaders in biblical and theological

knowledge, practical application of that knowledge in leadership

settings, and the development of character and integrity in all aspects

of life. There are four tracks available for the Master of Arts in Christian

Studies: Urban Ministry, Youth Ministry, Christian Leadership and

Pastoral Ministry.

“I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who hath

Degrees in Criminal Justice

In local communities and around the world, the field of criminal

justice continues to be increasingly complex and in high demand

for qualified professionals. For this reason, many criminal justice

positions now require a bachelor’s degree for entry and a graduate

degree to qualify for promotion. To answer the need for more

expertise in the legal, social, political and managerial aspects of

criminal justice, Grand Canyon University offers both bachelor’s

and master’s degree programs in this rewarding field.

The

Bachelor of Science in Justice Studies

prepares students

to enter careers in law enforcement, governmental and private

agencies, research, social work, political science and a variety of

other fields. Graduates will be able to describe the components of

the justice system from a systems perspective, including function,

organization, practices and interrelationship of law enforcement

agencies, the courts and the corrections system.

(7)

The

Master of Science in Criminal Justice Programs

expand

the student’s understanding of the law, social order and justice.

Criminal justice graduates are equipped to more effectively perform

as criminal justice professionals, successfully manage law-related

functions and strategically lead law enforcement organizations.

Grand Canyon University offers two master’s in criminal justice

programs; one with an emphasis in law enforcement and the

other with a focus on legal studies.

Master of Science in Criminal Justice with an Emphasis in

Law Enforcement

The Master’s in Criminal Justice with an Emphasis in Law

Enforcement is particularly suited for law enforcement personnel,

including corrections, probation and parole officers.

Master of Science in Criminal Justice with an Emphasis in

Legal Studies

The Master’s in Criminal Justice with an Emphasis in Legal Studies

takes a closer look at constitutional issues, international law and

legal research.

Criminal justice jobs are projected to increase through 2018,

which means there will be an abundance of openings for criminal

justice graduates.

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics,

“Employment of private detectives and investigators is expected to

grow 22 percent over the 2008-18 decade, much faster than the

average for all occupations.”

*

This increase is due to the growing need

to protect information and property, heightened security concerns

and increased litigation.

Degrees in Psychology and Sociology

Grand Canyon University offers a Bachelor of Science in Sociology, Bachelor of Science in Psychology, Master of Science in Psychology with

two specialization options, and Doctor of Philosophy in General Psychology, also with two specialization options.

The

Bachelor of Science in Sociology

human social behavior in its many diverse contexts.

The

Bachelor of Science in Psychology

helps prepare students

for positions in agencies and organizations that seek to help those

in need. This program offers a broad array of courses that increase

the understanding of past and present human actions. With this

understanding comes the responsibility to improve relationships

with others and help others achieve a similar understanding of

their own behaviors.

The

Master of Science in Psychology

is designed for individuals

who desire promotion and/or continued academic exposure in the

field of psychology. This program focuses on the development of

critical thinking and leadership qualities. Graduates with these

attributes impact those around them through leadership, action

research, and introduction of programmatic community changes

whether they are acting from the perspective of teachers, practitioners

or researchers. There are two master’s in psychology emphases: one

in general psychology and the other in industrial and organizational

psychology.

The

Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in General Psychology

offers two

different tracks: Cognitive/Instructional and Industrial/Organizational.

The Cognitive/Instructional track offers a broad array of courses

that increase the understanding of human actions in the past and

present. The Industrial/Organizational track focuses on using

industrial psychology in applied, business-related settings. Both

psychology tracks consist of 60 credits and are delivered 100%

online with no residency requirements.

* U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, Occupational Outlook Handbook, 2010-2011 Edition

http://www.bls.gov/oco/ocos056.htmCitation:

Financing your GCU education

One size never fits all and the options for financing your college

education are no exception. Fortunately, at GCU we are here to

walk you through the various finance options so you can find the

aid, scholarships, direct bill and military benefits.

Students may work for employers offering to pay their school tuition

directly. In these situations, the employer will create an account

with GCU so the Student Accounting Office can send bills directly

to them. This payment relationship bypasses the student completely;
