THE THEORY AND GENERAL RULE IN BRIEF”

In Chapter VIIth of his book MEDITATIONS UPON CERTAIN PRINCIPLES FROM BRIHAT PARASHARI - OPERATING THROUGH NAVAMSHA: A DIVINE PLAN, the author,

Sayanacharya Shridhar Govind Joshi states about “SURYENDU

LAGNA SMYOGE” - THE SUM LONGITUDES OF THE SUN, THE MOON AND THE ASCENDANT.

He further goes on to state :

After adding the longitudes of the Sun, the Moon and the Ascendent, the sum longitude so obtained is again added to the longitude of the Lord of the sign – the lord of the sign owning the house in question.

By an example, he states, for analyzing the “Bhagya” (fortune) of the native we should add the longitude of the lord of the IXth house (Mars) to the sum of the longitudes of the Sun, the Moon and the Ascendant, as shown below:

Similarly, the intensity of events/matters related to other houses could be gauged if we add the longitude of the lord of the respective house to the sum of the longitudes of the Sun, the Moon and the Ascendant and the results could be experienced only after such experiments.

Salient features of the horoscope:

Ascendant cusp 15 ° Gemini 30’ 56’’ falls on Regel, a star according to Ptolemy and Lilly it is of the nature of Jupiter and Saturn, but later authors consider it favorable and similar to Jupiter and Mars. Alvidas likens it to Mercury Mars and Jupiter. It gives benevolence, honor, riches, happiness, glory, renown and inventive or mechanical ability. Ebertibn says : If Rigel is conjunct with the Sun, Moon, MC or Ascendant, quick rise in life is promised on account of a strong, inherent will power, love of action, and a lucky hand in enterprise. A continuous battle to retain an acquired position has to be waged. This fight at the same time stimulates an increase in vigor. Even in spite of unhelpful aspects, success and reaching the set aim can be secured by this powerful concentration. If however the native is not cautious or has an attack of weakness, failure and disappointments, a fall from success will follow.

Ascendant Lord, Mercury, is in Aquarius along with Moon, well aspected by Jupiter, Saturn and Pluto, who is on Spica, a very fortunate star in the heavens. All these planets

from 5th and 9th favourable aspect the Ascendant, forming a grand Airy Trine. Moon is on

SUALOCIN, also called also called Dhanishtha, "Richest" the Vasus, "Bright or Good Ones"Ruled by Mars. A mutable asterism belonging to the serving caste and favorable for commencing work of an impermanent or moving character. With Moon here at birth native will be wealthy, liberal, fond of music, valiant. Mercury is on Nashira, and according to Ptolemy it is of the nature of Saturn and Jupiter; and, to Simmonite, of Saturn. It causes overcoming by evil, which is turned to success. According to Arabic tradition this star will make a native become a legal advisor or counselor and will give such a person the ability to hold a position of trust. This star makes for integrity and justice and gives a knowledge of man. Therefore we see here a refining Saturn influence, this will be achieved if the natal Saturn is well placed.

The M.C. is hemmed between SADALMELIK, FOMALHAUT and DENIB ADIGE, and all these stars favour arts and science.

The Sun is on ACHENER, giving gives success in public office, beneficence, and religion. Ebertin states: If well-placed, it promises happiness and success by giving good morals, faithful adherence to one's religious beliefs or philosophical inclinations. According to tradition, Achernar is credited with bestowing high offices in the church, especially if conjunct with Jupiter.

William Lilly, in Christian Astrology, writes: “The fixed stars give great gifts, and elevate even from poverty to an extreme height of fortune, the seven planets do not do so.”

The Ascendant falls on MARSIK in the constellation of Hercules and according to Ptolemy it is like Mercury. It is said to give strength of character, tenacity and fixity of purpose, an ardent nature.

Moon and Mercury fall on ALTAIR "Al Nasr al Tair" that constitutes the twenty-first nakshatra (Hindu Moon Mansion) Shravana. Robson says that it is “ruled by the Moon. A mutable asterism belonging to the lowest caste and favorable for commencing work of an impermanent or moving character. Those born on the lunar day will be cunning, active, bold, truthful, virtuous, religious and skilful. With Moon here at birth native will be rich, learned, famous, and have a good wife. Rules parade grounds and private parts.” He further says that with Mercury on it the native faces many difficulties, misfortunes, and strange experiences. Disappointment on long journeys, bad for partnership, loss of a relative under strange circumstances.

According to Ptolemy the influence of Aquila is similar to that of Mars and Jupiter. It is said to give great imagination, strong passions, indomitable will, a dominating character, influence over others, clairvoyance, a keen penetrating mind and ability for chemical research.

The Sun conjunct Sturn on the Nadir are on Alfard. Alvidas says that Alvidas it is similar to the Sun and Jupiter in sextile. It gives wisdom, musical and artistic appreciation,

The native is highly qualified and used to attend interviews quietly competently. Due to the good economic family background, she did not feel the pinch but was frustrated. She was so desperate at being rejected despite her talents, that she pondered to change worlds. She did consult many fortune tellers, including Sarah Freders.
