Academic Excellence by the New York State Board of Regents

NYS resident for at least one year. Scholarship winner must attend a college or university in NYS. Scholarship is based on Regents test scores, locally developed examination of English and Mathematics, etc. If you qualify for this scholarship, your school counselor will contact you and will submit the paperwork. American Society of Civil Engineers (Mohawk-Hudson Section-Region 1) Scholarship

Seniors who intend to enroll in an educational institution majoring in an ABET accredited curriculum leading to a Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering. (Civil Engineering related fields - Civil - Geotechnical - Wastewater - Environmental - Architectural Engineering - Construction Engineering) Official transcript, listing of voluntary and extra-curricular activities and 500 (+/-) essay are required.

Association of Fire Districts of the State of NY - Edward "Ned"

Carter Memorial Scholarship

Applicant must be furthering their education in a two or four year college.

Must be pursuing a career in a community service related field. Applicant must be related to a firefighter, be a firefighter or be an Explorer/Junior member in a fire department or fire district that is currently a paid up member of the Association of Fire District of State of NY. Recommendations, transcript, and essay (200 words or less) are required.

AYSO Region 647 Scholarship

College or trade school bound student(s) that has shown dedication to serving and volunteer work in the AYSO Region 647 program. 500 word or less essay required.

Beaver Brook Rod and Gun Club - Keldon Kirby Scholarship Award

Child or grandchild of a member - planning to attend college, advance training or the military after graduation. Demonstrate academic achievement, 250 word essay and a recommendation from your guidance counselor are required.

Beth A Clark Scholarship - MU Chapter Alpha Delta Kappa

Any student going into teaching - Official transcript and two letters of recommendation required.

Bethel Lions Club Scholarships (One application for all three scholarships they offer)

Wasn't offered in 2020-21. A senior who is a Town of Bethel resident. A Letter of recommendation and transcript are required.

Billy Moran Scholarship

Student who demonstrates exceptional academics, citizenship, and leadership. Student must attend and reside within the SWCSD for at least 2 years. Student who has been accepted in a 2 or 4 year college and has an overall weighted high school GPA of 90 or better after 7 1/2 semesters. An athlete who has participated in at least two competitive interscholastic sports each year throughout high school and has been a vital member of at least one of those teams.

Brian Ingber Memorial

Foundation Recognition Award

Must exemplify the ideals of volunteerism, service within his/her school and community, be of good moral and ethical character, and be a well-rounded student. This award is available, for example, to any student that is seeking employment that demonstrates a commitment to community service or a student that is seeking to further their education in fields of study that will result in improving the quality of life in their community. Letter of recommendation required.

CSEA - Orange County Local 836

Senior who has a parent and/or guardian of the CSEA Orange County Local 836 - Essay (no more than 500 words) and "official" transcript.

CSEA - Orange County Unit 7900/7902

Any student who's parent or guardian is an Orange County employee that is a member of CSEA Unit 7900/7902. Two typed personal essays, transcript and college acceptance letter are required.

Callicoon Center Volunteer Fire Department Scholarship

Must be a child of a CCFD member or resident of the Callicoon Center Fire District. Must demonstrate academic achievement and provide a recommendation from your school counselor. Volunteer in another capacity at school or in the community. Provide a short description of your plans and goals.

Charles and Dorothy Smith Memorial Scholarship

Any senior continuing his/her education. Academic resume and essay (350- 500 words) are required.

Community Foundations of the Hudson Valley

Epilepsy Foundation of Northeastern NY, Inc. (Three scholarships/One application)

High school seniors who are currently being treated for epilepsy and have plans to further their education - Must reside in one of the 22 counties served by the Epilepsy Foundation of North Eastern NY. (Sullivan and Delaware Counties are part of this) A short essay, copy of the letter verifying admission to college/university, a statement of epilepsy diagnosis from their physician, letter of recommendation, and a recent portrait style photograph are required.

Excelsior Scholarship

Must be a resident of New York State. Plan to attend a SUNY or CUNY college or university full-time in pursuit of a two-year or four-year degree.

Please check website for specifics on family income qualifications. Be on track to graduate on time with an Associate's Degree in two consecutive years or a Bachelor's Degree in four consecutive years. Apply on-line.

Federation of Sportsmen's Club of Sullivan County, Inc.

Student must be a member or have a relative (parent/grandparent/aunt/uncle) that is a member of the Federation of Sportsmen's Club of Sullivan County, have a hunting or fishing license, 3.0/85 average and be a resident of Sullivan County. Three letters of recommendation, essay, autobiography, report card/transcript, and a copy of your hunting and/or fishing license are required.

Firemen's Association of the State of NY - Gerard J.

Buckenmeyer Volunteer Scholarship

The applicant or the applicant's parent/legal guardian must be a member in good standing with FASNY. Must be a current junior firefighter, Explorer Scout or RAM in a group affiliated with a volunteer department; a volunteer firefighter; or a volunteer with an EMS unit. Demonstrate both a commitment to volunteer emergency service and to the community. Resume, two letters of recommendation, one page essay, Certification of Acceptance at institution of higher learning, complete description of extracurricular activities, etc., are required. Sullivan West student whose primary residence is within the boundaries of the former Delaware Valley C.S.D.

Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernians, St. Ita Division 6 Orange County, NY (Two scholarships - One Application)

Offering two awards: Open to students wishing to pursue their studies in a college or institute of higher learning; and one for students pursuing careers or studies in the Vocational or Technical field. Both scholarships require a written essay of no less than 250 words.

Lake Huntington Fire Co., Inc., Scholarship

Must be continuing their education and be a junior firefighter of the Lake Huntington Fire Company, or the son, daughter, or grandchild of a firefighter or auxiliary member of the Lake Huntington Fire Company. If no such graduating senior meets this requirement then the committee will consider a junior firefighter, or the son, daughter, or grandchild of a firefighter from a Fire Company that serves the Sullivan West Central School District.

Lawrence & Imogene Freidenstine Memorial Scholarship

Reside in the township of Fremont - Furthering his/her education at BOCES, a trade school or college. Applicant to mail required paperwork to name and address on application.

Louis B. Scheinman Memorial Scholarship Fund

Any good student with financial need - Transcript, recommendation, resume, and FAFSA required.

Luchs/Eggler Memorial Fund

Must reside within the boundaries of the former Jeffersonville-Youngsville and Narrowsburg Central Schools and is based on academic potential and financial need - A copy of your Student Aid Report, with your Estimated Financial Contribution, a letter from student, a copy of the financial aid package you have received for the college you will be attending, transcript, and recommendations are all required.

Mid-Hudson Chapter of NYS Association of School Business Officials Scholarship

Senior planning a post secondary course of study in the field of business, finance and/or education. Three letters of reference, official transcript, and a one-page narrative required. Monticello N.Y. Kennel Club, Inc.

Sullivan County resident wishing to further their education in an animal related field. Typewritten essay and two letters of recommendation are required.

Neversink Rondout Antique Machinery Association

High school senior from Sullivan County pursuing secondary education in any field related to either heavy equipment, automotive mechanics, or agriculture at any accredited academic or vocational school. Letter of recommendation and essay are required. (This scholarship is posted also at BOCES)

New York Animal Agriculture Coalition (NYAAC) Scholarship

Open to NY residents majoring in an academic program related to Agriculture Education, Agriculture Communications, Agriculture Business and/or Animal Science. Apply on-line. (nyanimalag.org)

New York Schools Insurance Reciprocal - The Cristin Ann Bambino Memorial Scholarship

Available to a special education student who is college bound. (Essay - not to exceed 650 words)

New York Schools Insurance Reciprocal - The Paul Jensen Memorial Scholarship

Student who has demonstrated an inspired imagination and creative aesthetic in his or her school career, and who is seeking an opportunity to attend college. Senior who has excelled in design in high school (Essay - not to exceed 650 words)

New York Schools Insurance Reciprocal -The Joseph Goncalves Student Humanitarian Scholarship

Must be a graduating senior from a NYSIR subscriber district (which Sullivan West is) who plans to attend college in NYS. Applying students should be able to demonstrate a record of involvement and work for a cause or organization that actively promotes social justice, equal opportunity, relief of human suffering or similar aspirations generally understood to be within the meaning of humanitarian activity. Essay (not to exceed 650 words), recommendation, and evidence of plans to attend college in NY are required.

New York Snowmobile Association Scholarship

Applicants must be graduating high school seniors who have been accepted at a College, Junior College, or Vocational School. The student's parent(s) or Guardian(s), or the Student if over 18, must be a member in good standing of NYSSA. Application, college acceptance letter, high school transcript, essay (500 words or less) and recommendations are required and must be received by NYSSA as one package.

Professional Women of Sullivan County - High School Scholarship Award

Didn't receive updated application in 2020-21. Applicant must be a Sullivan County resident (minimum 2 years) and have met the entrance requirements of intended accredited school. Transcript, two letters of recommendations, and essay (200-250 words) are required.

Rebekah Peters Memorial Scholarship

Must be a female senior at SWCSD who is continuing her education and is or has been a member of the SW Student Council, SW Cheerleading and/or SW Cross Country Team. (Preference will be given to applicants who are either currently or in the past, been involved in gymnastics.)

Sobo & SoBo Scholarship Wasn't offered in 2020-2021. You must enroll in a two-year or four-year college or university. (500-750 word essay)

Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War - Camp 124 - Colonel Ellis Memorial Scholarship

Seniors going into military service or post secondary education who demonstrates high academics, record of school/community involvement, etc.

Letter of recommendation and 500 word essay are required.

St. Tammany Chapter # 492 - Order of the Eastern Star (Delaware/Sullivan District)

Senior accepted into a SUNY college full-time for fall semester (GPA 85 or above) Transcript and essay are required.

STEM - NYS Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics Incentive Program

Applicant must be a resident of NYS and have resided in NYS for 12 continuous months prior to the beginning of the fall college term; be a U.S.

citizen or eligible non-citizen; be a high school senior/recent high school graduate who will be enrolled full time at a public or private college located in NYS, beginning in the fall term following his or her high school graduation; be ranked in the top 10% of his/her high school graduating class of a NYS high school; be matriculated in an approved undergraduate program leading to a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics at a public or private college located in NYS; earn a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 2.5 or higher each term after the first semester; and execute a service contract agreeing to reside and work in NYS for five years in the field of Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics. Must be college bound to a two or four-year college or university - Scholarship based on financial need and academic potential. A copy of your Financial Aid Form (FAF) or SCCC request for financial aid form, a letter from student, and a copy of financial aid package from the college are required.

Sullivan County Association of Town Highway Superintendents Scholarship (Two scholarships offered - one application)

Scholarship # 1 - Will be awarded to a student if one parent is currently employed by the Highway Department of Sullivan County. Scholarship # 2 - Will be awarded to a student planning to study in a field related to the construction/highway industry. Essay.

Must be a Sullivan County resident attending or planning to attend SCCC full- time or part-time - Applicant must be involved in the Spring/Summer 2022 Sullivan Renaissance project in his/her community - Letter of recommendation and transcript are required. Sullivan County Conservation Club College Scholarship

Applicant should be a member of S.C. Conservation Club, or child or grandchild or dependent of a member in good standing (for at least one year) before applying. Preference will be given to someone going into conservation, biological-science, agriculture or related program. GPA average of 2.5 or higher.

Sullivan County Farm Bureau Any senior - Short essay required

A Sullivan West senior that has been accepted into an accredited college or university to pursue a degree in Criminal Justice.

Sullivan County Sheriff's PBA - Debra Hall Memorial

Scholarships

Must be a Sullivan County resident pursuing a career in veterinary science or something associated with animal science. Essay required.

Sullivan County Sheriff's PBA - Robert Chemery Memorial Scholarship

Must be a Sullivan County resident pursuing a career in the field in criminal justice or any police related field. Essay required.

Sullivan County Teachers' Council Albert Shanker Memorial Scholarship

Open only to children of members of the faculty locals affiliated with the council. Targeted toward students who are pursuing a career in education, international studies or labor relations. Should have a cumulative GPA of 85 or higher. Essay required (250-350 words)

Sullivan County Trail Association Scholarship

Any Sullivan County High School Senior or any high school senior whose parent/guardian is a member-in-good standing of the S.C. Trail Association, who plans to major in an Environmental Field of Study, such as Forestry, Wildlife Management, Environmental Biology, Soil and Water Conservation, etc. Three letters of recommendation, a copy of your grades, and an essay about yourself are required. (about 100 words)

Sullivan Renaissance Scholarship - Community Foundation of Orange &

Sullivan County

Candidate must be a resident of Sullivan County and be able to demonstrate they have volunteered for a Renaissance Project in a significant way.

Requirements: A personal essay from the applicant, a letter from project leader, an additional letter of recommendation, and 2-3 photos of applicant during their volunteer experience. Download application from their website.

Teamsters Local Union No. 445 Scholarship - In Memory of Douglas L. McCauley

Son, daughter, or grandchild of an active or retired Teamsters Local 445 member in good standing planning to attend an accredited college, university or trade school. Letter of recommendation, official transcript, and 500 word essay are required.

Triquart Foundation Scholarship

Must live in the Town of Fremont and that portion of the Town of Hancock which is in our school district.

Tusten Lions Club Scholarship

Wasn't offered in 2020-21. Applicant must be entering a health-related field, reside within the confines of the original Narrowsburg Central School and have an unweighted average of 80 or above.

UDRBC Upper Delaware River Basin Citizens Scholarship

Senior furthering their educational ambitions in agriculture/agriculture related fields. Application, letter of recommendation, transcript and biographical statement are required.

United Way of Sullivan County Hospitality & Travel

Scholarship

Wasn't offered in 2020-21. Sullivan County graduating seniors - Two scholarships will be awarded on the basis of a combination of GPA, extracurricular activities, community service, sports participation, character references and a 500 word essay.

United Way of Sullivan County Performing Arts Scholarship

Wasn't offered in 2020-21. Sullivan County graduating seniors - Two scholarships will be awarded on the basis of a combination of GPA, extracurricular activities, community service, sports participation, character references, and a 500 word essay.

Wayne Memorial Hospital Auxiliary Scholarships

Applicant must be applying for fall admission to a nursing program and be notified of their acceptance prior to high school graduation. Copy of letter of acceptance to a nursing program, transcript, three letters of reference, wallet photo, and a one-page essay are required.

Western Sullivan United Teachers & School Related Personnel Scholarships (WSUT

White Sulphur Springs Fire Department & Ladies Auxiliary Scholarship

Any senior living in the White Sulphur Springs Fire District OR a member OR whose parent is a member, in good standing, with the WSSFD or Ladies Auxiliary. A copy of latest report card, transcript and a listing of school and community activities required.

Women's Community Club of Cochecton Scholarship

Open to all Sullivan West Seniors who live within the Town of Cochecton.

(Regardless of your postal address) Mail essay and application to WCCC - address is on the application.

Worden Family Memorial

Scholarship Fund Must reside in the White Sulphur Springs Fire District.

Youngsville Firecrackers - Sullivan County Cornell Extension Community Group Scholarship

Sullivan West senior living in the Youngsville Fire District. Applicant must be pursuing further education in a field of their choice, intended for the educational path of choice: not only college.

Zeltman-Dorrer Scholarship Resident of former North Branch School District - Student must submit letter to counseling office.

Please note there are many other local scholarships offered through Sullivan West not listed on this document because they do not require an application. Later in the school year you will receive the

"Final Senior Survey" which will ask you various questions. Many local scholarships that do not require an application are based on information you submit on the Final Senior Survey.

Important: All applicants must make certain to adhere to filing deadlines. If an application requires documentation from the counseling office (transcripts, recommendations, etc.), it should be submitted to the counseling office one week prior to the filing deadline.
