chris heighton

creative director:

Chris has over thirteen years of creative experience in marketing, branding, corporate identity, brochure design, website design (visual, functionality and usability) and advertising campaigns, having worked for two highly successful creative design agencies in Nottingham and South London.

Chris has worked on many exciting projects for clients including

Marconi, Siemens, Linden Homes, Crest nicholson, HSBC, BP and

Fidelity developing a strong creative skill set and thirst for innovative design. This enabled him to develop his own successful creative design studio, Chris Heighton Design which, in 2011, he merged with Interaxsys Limited to create an integrated communications agency, 5and3.

“Branding and creative design is my life. Whether I’m designing for

print or for digital media, I fill with excitement at the thought of a new

project because I love the challenge of taking a blank paper, scribbling

down my ideas, and refining and evolving them into a finished

solution. For me, good design is like a mature Rioja – the heady nose

stops you in your tracks, but it’s the smooth texture and lingering

finish that keep you coming back for more!”

simon dawson

technical director:

Simon has been working within the information technology arena for over 20 years. Having started out developing cutting-edge technology that won first prize in a national competition he has never looked back and continues to apply visionary and innovative solutions to all projects. From those early days of developing tools to help design Croydon’s Tramlink through to delivering effective solutions to today’s clients he has the background and understanding of how software solutions work. On the way he has led teams for AIG (UK) Ltd and developed bespoke solutions for Barclays Stockbrokers amongst others.

“Computers and the internet are, for most, an intrinsic part of life.

Having grown up with the likes of the BBC Micro and ZX81 I am still

fascinated by the technical evolution and its speed (shame I can’t

cycle up the North Downs as quickly!). Back in those days, when I

taught myself to program, the question that I always had in my head

was, ‘Great, what do I do now?’. That same question does not now

exist. The growth of the internet and ‘a PC on every desk’ means that

there is always something around the corner… perhaps your idea!”

Large or small matters not; any company or tradesman will benefit from an online presence. Likewise having a poorly performing or badly designed site can actually do more harm than good. Businesses that have already made that move will, if not already, rely more and more upon their websites and other on-line facilities and networks. 10 years ago it was all about getting a presence on the web; 3 to 5 years ago it was about making this presence better and actually delivering some additional benefits. Responsive design what? SEO who?!

A responsive website is a website that adapts itself to screen resolutions, maximising viewable space by expanding or re-ordering content. It’s clever and really makes a website functional and engaging for the user. As well as looking pretty slick, your website will be no where without Search Engine Optimisation (SEO). This is not a one button function and wont guarantee your website appearing at the top of google but, with a little clever development, keyword and phrase tinkering, Google will begin to see your site more efficiently and you will be a happy bunny when you have more visitors to your website.
