Assessment & Testing

Pre Selection Testing

We provide aptitude testing for persons wishing to enter an apprenticeship in the electrical trade.

Duration: 1.5 hours

Electrical Trade

Certificate II in Electrotechnology (Career Start) (Pre Apprenticehsip Electrical UEE 22011) Duration: 632 hrs (includes 200 hrs work experience)

In addition to essential knowledge and practical skill development the qualification offers applicants with the opportunity of work experience in the electrical trade. Competency plus a selection of Elective Units of Competency relevant to the Electrical Apprenticeship.

Certificate III in Electrotechnology Electrician (Electrical Apprenticeship UEE 30811)

Duration: Generally, the off-the-job component is completed over three years.

Delivery: Day or Block release

Cost: Government fees (POA)

All units of competency must be successfully completed and the apprentice deemed competent in order to attain a certificate. A WA Unrestricted Electricians Licence is granted upon application and successful completion of the apprenticeship. The essential 66 capabilities identified by ERAC and endorsed by Energy Safety are covered in the qualification.

Certificate III in Electrical Fitting (Electrical Apprenticeship UEE 33011)

Duration: Generally, the off-the-job component is completed over three years.

This qualification provides competencies to manufacture, fit, assemble, erect, operate, test, fault find, alter and repair electrical equipment; and includes electrical wiring work where that work is associated with assembling, maintaining, terminating or altering the wiring between electrical com-ponents within plant or machinery.

Certificate IV in Electrical - Instrumentation

This course is designed to provide the Electrical Tradesperson and final year Electrical Apprentice with training in the functionality, operation, calibration and fault finding of basic Industrial Instrumentation. The course provides underpinning knowledge of Instrumen-tation theory, calibration and processes through a web-based training program which is self-paced and sup-ported administratively and technically by the College. The knowledge obtained through the online tuition is then applied in simulated workplace training units within the College in areas such as pressure, level, tempera-ture, flow, transducers and application to analytical in-struments. This can be undertaken once the web-Based programs are completed. Competency can be achieved through repeated undertaking of practical pro-jects at the College or through workplace activities. Stu-dents should ideally have home broadband internet access.

Duration: This is a self-paced course with a large

per-centage of the theory being delivered online at the stu-dents’ pace (it should be noted that online training must be fully completed within 12 months). Once the online component is completed the student can undertake the practical sessions and undergo assessment. Classes in the practical component will typically be run each month.
