Introduction

The Viessmann communication interface Vitocom 100, type FA1, is used for remote messaging, monitoring and scanning for faults, as well as remote switching of heasting systems via the telephone network.

Configuration of Vitocom 100 using: H Telephone using multi−frequency

process (DTMF)

H D1/D2/E−Plus mobile ’phone H Vitodata 300

Using the integral modem, error messages are transferred via telephone systems to various communication services:

H Remote monitoring with Vitodata 300*1

H Fax

H D1/D2 mobile ’phone

Summary

Vitocom 100 provides the following functions:

H Remote monitoring and control of heating system via the telephone system.

H Remote interrogation of operating conditions or control conditions via the telephone system.

H Automatically generated messages to a fax machine, a D1/D2 mobile ‘phone via the public telephone network or via Vitodata 300 (heating or service contractor).

H Optional hook−up of additional functions, e.g. opening and closing window shutters or switching the domestic lighting on or off via the telephone system.

H Saving system descriptions, system−specific details and message texts.

Advantages

H Irregularities in the operation of heating systems can be recognised and notified as soon as first signs appear. This ensures higher operational safety.

H An automatic message regarding the cause of the error by the system guarantees rapid and specific troubleshooting.

H Heating programs can be changed for each heating circuit by remote control using the telephone system.

Energy savings can be conveniently achieved by changing heating programs at appropriate times. H Automatic initiation of service and

maintenance work.

Remote interrogation and remote switching via telephone

Remote interrogation and remote switching

A heating system can be switched on from any telephone via Vitocom 100. Remote interrogation and remote switching is activated by transmitting commands in the form of a sequence of figures.

First dial up Vitocom 100.

Then enter the access codes and the respective codes for remote interrogation and remote switching via the telephone keypad.

Vitocom 100 translates the transmitted code and switches the control unit or responds to remote interrogation with acoustic signals.

Example:

You want to discover the error state of Vitotronic 300, type KW3.

Enter the respective key combination after the connection has been established and the access code has been entered. If a central fault message is present, Vitocom 100 transmits a deep dual tone sequence; if no central fault message is present, a high−pitched quad−tone sequence is transmitted.

The remote switching of the operating program via the control module FT is transferred to the switch output of Vitocom 100.

A burner fault message is directly placed on a fault input of Vitocom 100 by the burner connection of Viessmann Trimatik. B Telephone network C A A Vitocom 100 B Telephone with DTMF C Mobile ’phone

Remote monitoring with D1/D2 mobile ’phone

The control unit recognises any faults developed by the heating system or the control unit, e.g. on sensors, on the burner or the circuit board. Information about this fault is then transmitted by the

control unit to Vitocom100 via the connection cable. Vitocom100 dials the programmed D1/D2 telephone number.

Vitocom can store additional system information.

Remote monitoring by fax

Remote monitoring by fax is enabled through the transmission of error messages in plain text.

The control unit recognises any faults developed by the heating system, e.g. on

sensors, at the burner or the printed circuit board. The error message is then transmitted by the control unit via the connection cable, which then dials the programmed fax number.

Vitocom can store additional system information.

1.6 Hooking up additional functions

The following connections for hooking up on−site components are provided in the Vitocom 100 connection box:

2 fault inputs DE1 and DE2

1 switched output DA3

Fault inputs DE1 and DE2

Using these inputs, on−site faults can be hooked up with 230 V ~ as mains voltage signals.

Input signals are monitored by Vitocom 100 and notified as faults.

Input signals may be interrogated via the central control, telephone with DTMF or code transmitter via D1/D2/E−Plus mobile ’phone.

Example:

Error message from cooling, lifting and ventilating systems and central fault messages from one control panel.

Switched output DA3

(volt−free relay contacts, rated capacity 0.5 A, 24 V safety voltage acc. to EN 61558).

The external heating program changeover of the control unit can be

switched with this switched output DA3.

On−site components (e.g. lighting) may also be switched via this output. The output may be switched via the central control, telephone with DTMF or via D1/D2/E−Plus mobile ’phone. Connect on−site components to the
