This document explains how to setup and install the PDF printer on a Mac and Windows Server. Linux server does not support PDF printing.

1.Download the PDFwriter installer from http://sourceforge.net/projects/pdfwriterformac/ 2.Install as per install instructions.
3.Make a test print (to create the repository folder): print any document as PDF with PDFwriter.

Server Setup
- Logout all connected Users from the Server
- Go into “Setup” > General
- Enable PDF Printing: set ‘Enabled’ to YES
- Click on the selector bar next to ‘Default Printer’ and choose: PDFwriter
- Then click on the grey bar to select the PDF Repository folder.
- Use SHIFT+CMD+G and type: “/private” in the entry field
- Then browse to /private/var/spool/pdfwriter/username
o The folder only appears if you previously made a test print using the PDFwriter
o If for some reason the private folder is greyed out and you can’t click on it, search here: User/Shared/pdf writer. Once selected in the entry field the link updates to the above mentioned link (/private/var/spool/pdfwriter/username)automatically.
o This folder is intended for server-side usage. Pdf print outs will be stored just temporarily. Files will be deleted by the fw server if process is successful. If the process fails, the file remains in the folder. A full folder could indicate, that there is a problem with the process, e.g. sending invoices.
- In the next steps click to set the Page Setup (PDF size, portrait/landscape, A4/Letter…) and Printer Settings to set the default PDF Printer Settings (print on page, multiple pages etc.)
How to fix PDFwriter on Apple OS X 10.11 "El Capitan"
After installing the PDFWriter package double click the installer file PDFwriter_for_Mac.dmg again.
Explore the contents of the installer package “Lisanet PDFwriter” (right mouse click > Show Package Content). In the now open window, open the folder Contents and double click on the file with the extension .gz to unpack the Archive.
Copy the "PDFWriter.ppd" file from the Archive (Archive/Library/Printers/Lisanet/PDFwriter/…) to this path on your machine: /Library/Printers/PPDs/Contents/Resources.
If you cannot find the folder Resources, do while in finder cmd + shift key + G and paste the path into the now open window.
Now go to the Printers dialog (System Preferences > Printer & Scanners) and add the printer, choosing the PDFwriter as explained in the documentation.

- Download the PDFCreator installer from http://www.pdfforge.org/
- Install as per install instructions.
- Make a test print (to create the repository folder): print any document as PDF with PDFwriter.
- Configure the Auto Save Option in the PDFCreator.
o Open the PDFCreator > click on Printer > Options > Auto Save.
o Setup a directory for auto-save.
o Make sure to disable the option to open the document after auto-saving.
