GP Strategies Training Services

At GPSL we offer a vast range of training programmes and supporting services covering almost every aspect of leadership, development, sales, customer experience, management, finance, coaching and mentoring, climate change and sustainability and a whole host of other subjects - for a full list please see our website.

However, the key to our success is that we do not just offer ‘off the shelf ’ training alone; we assess what your needs are and then engage our experts to design a service that to order.

All our experts are senior people with relevant career experience, willing and able to share these experiences with delegates in addition to delivering the course materials. This ensures that there is always a healthy balance of theory and practice at a GPSL event.

GPSL are one of the leading suppliers of tailored training services, we can tailor any course to meet your needs or we can develop a new course at relatively short notice. A unique feature of our training is that our knowledgeable trainers write and deliver their own course materials and will construct practical exercises and discussions based on real experience. Thus the all important blend of theory and practice filters through all our training ensuring delegates acquire the maximum practical as well as academic benefits.

We can also deliver cost effective in-house training programmes that allow you to determine the content, depth, attendee size, structure, length and sequence of the training within the security of your own premises. In addition to in-house training we also deliver public courses around the world.

All our training is focused, practical and results orientated to enhance the application of learned concepts by the participants in their daily working life. We always aim to learn about our clients’ needs, their goals and the background of the participants. In particular the markets within which the participants seek to operate.

Training Outsourcing

In an increasing challenging world economy, many organisations are focused and energised on maintaining and growing their market position. This will often require significant internal resource commitment within the company. As such companies are often required to do more with less as they attempt to identify innovative and dynamic strategies to maintain their competitive advantage.

Learning and Development (L&D) and talent management programs are often required on a global scale. This in itself can present a set of unique challenges and requires a skill set that organisations may not wholly possess internally. Even if this isn’t the case, the amount of effort required using internal resources can grow significantly over a short period of time, drawing essential expertise away from business critical strategies.

One solution being adopted increasingly by large organisations, is to partner with a global organisation with a proven reputation of providing fully managed training services. One such company is GPSL.

With more than 47 years experience of delivering world class services in over 67 strategically placed offices worldwide and employing over 2800 professionals. The advantages and benefits of having GPSL support your team are:

• Your people will be free to address higher-level objectives

• You’ll gain flexibility, quality, and cost management that you’d expect from a recognised leader in outsourced training services

• We are committed to understanding and supporting your business goals

• World-class expertise, people, and resource which include; accountability, focus, industry knowledge, and unparalleled buying power

• Demonstrate tangible cost savings

• Have greater visibility of what you invest and the returns

• Culturally aligned to you business

• Adds significant value as GPSL integrates your highly complex systems, and helps you analyse and improve your operations

• A partner who is passionate about learning and the commercial benefits learning provides to an organisation

Leader development and retention is a critical competence for most organisations – and one of the most difficult to maintain. Although traditionally, managers may have considered that personal development was aimed at helping them become a leader, in a 21st century environment, intensive, continuous learning is a now a key characteristic of high performing leaders and leadership teams.

GPSL’s approach to leadership development recognises that generic leader competencies are only valid and useful when linked to the specific demands of a leadership role; and that these demands are constantly changing.

We use the basic transitions of the Leadership Pipeline to match developmental needs with a job role. Additionally, we use models of adult/leadership maturity and a variety of psychometric instruments, including Reiss Motivational Profiling. We do not offer a generic competency model of leadership. There is little evidence that these work and rather more evidence that they tend to misdirect

developmental objectives and activities.

We take a systemic view of development. Much of the formal learning leaders and managers undertake is wasted, because the system, which they and their team constitute, resists change. To ensure learning is embedded, we tend to work with both the leader and their team.

We draw on the concept of “innovation in leadership” – the observation that long-term successful organisations are innovative in their products and services, the way they do business, the way they learn, and in how they constantly renew their culture. Core to the successful management of continuous cultural innovation is the concept of balance.

Throughout our leadership and management workshops we use models from respected Leadership Gurus like Tom Peters, Blake & Moulton, Kurt Lewin, Adair, Drucker and Mintzberg.

Example programmes we have developed:

• Post Recessionary Leadership Techniques

• Leading for Performance Excellence

• Leading effective teams

• The Great Way to Leadership

• Inspiring Leaders Programme

• Action Centred and Situational Leadership

Executive Coaching

Our executive coaching solutions provide coaching on a one-on-one basis, providing an invaluable source of support and development for all levels of an organisation: board members, senior managers, middle managers and those looking to develop their careers wherever they sit within their company. Our executive cadre of coaches are outstanding: they all have eclectic backgrounds and most importantly they all have multi-faceted lives with lots of real world experience. They look at situations from a business point of view, but equally, from a humanistic/holistic point of view.

We help our clients build and manage sustainable mentoring programmes. Our programmes are designed to meet the exacting criteria of the International Standards for Mentoring Programmes in Employment and reflect the most current research into mentoring fundamentals and good practice. Our research programmes are led by Prof David Clutterbuck, one of the world’s leading authorities on developmental mentoring. We draw upon the experience of associates in more than 20 countries.

Our applications of mentoring include programmes to support talent management, induction, diversity, indigenization, and leader development; as well as reverse mentoring (where the mentor is hierarchically more junior than the mentee). Our experience covers programmes with as few as 12 participants and as many as several thousand; single organisation and multiple organisation; single country to global; face to face mentoring to e-mentoring and mixed media mentoring. We can provide a complete turn-key solution to making mentoring deliver significant return on investment, or any combination of elements.

We help our clients build sustainable coaching capability and develop coaching cultures. Our continuous programme of research provides us with an evidence base for what genuinely works and what does not - and so we are able to help clients select appropriate mixes of coaching approaches for the specific variety of needs in that organisation.

Our key services in coaching include:

• Consultancy to develop a coaching culture

• Coach and coachee training from fundamentals (EMCC accredited) to post-graduate, in association with leading universities

• Top management briefings and personalised coaching skills development programme

• Coach assessment centres (to ensure that externally resourced executive coaches are competent)
