Recap:

The Jets battled back from a 3-1 second period deficit to beat the Ottawa Senators 4-3 in overtime on Tuesday night. Winnipeg scored in each period, including the game-tying goal with 1:17 left in the third period. Blake Wheeler (1G, 1A), Josh Morrissey (2A), and Mark Scheifele (2A)

The Jets suffered their first loss of the season on Monday night,

3-1 to the Toronto Maple Leafs after beginning their season with

a 4-3 overtime win against the Calgary Flames at Bell MTS Place

on Thursday night.

Kyle Connor leads the team in scoring through the first two

games of the season with four points (2G, 2A).

Connor is joined by defenceman Derek Forbort (2A) and Neal

Pionk (2A) as the only three players for the Jets to notch a point

in each of the first two games this season.

Monday’s loss ended Winnipeg’s five-game regular season

win-ning streak dating back to last season.

The Jets play seven times on Tuesdays this season, including

each of the next four weeks. Winnipeg went 8-7-3 on Tuesdays

last season.

Monday and Tuesday is the first of nine back-to-back games this

season. Winnipeg went 5-4-0 in the first game and 4-5-0 in the

second game last season.

The Jets play 56 games against the six other Canadian teams as

part of the NHL’s Scotia North Division.

The Jets play 10 games against the Toronto Maple Leafs and

Ot-tawa Senators, while they have nine games against the Calgary

Flames, Edmonton Oilers, Montreal Canadians, and Vancouver

Extra Time

Both of Winnipeg’s victories this season have been

4-3 overtime decisions…Six of the Jets past eight

games that have gone to extra time have been

decid-ed in overtime…The Jets went 4-4 in games deciddecid-ed

in overtime and 3-2 in games decided in a shootout

last season…Last season, Winnipeg won its first four

overtime games, but then lost their last four overtime

games.

Slim Margins

With the pair of overtime wins, the Jets are 2-0-0 this

season in games decided by one goal…Since the start

of the 2017-18 season, the Jets are 58-20-21 in

one-goal games…The 58 wins and .692 points percentage

in one-goal games are tied for fifth in the league.

season this week…They are the only three road games

in the Jets first 11 games, as Winnipeg returns to Bell

MTS Place for a season high seven-game homestand

following the road trip…The Jets were 17-14-3 on the

road last season.

games to start the season…Winnipeg went 14-20-5

last season when trailing first and trailed first in 39 of

their 71 regular season games…The Jets have not held

Kyle Connor has scored in each of Winnipeg’s first

three games of the season…He’s on a four-game goal

5-2 win against the Ottawa Senators…Mark Scheifele

had three goals and an assist on Feb. 20 in a 5-1 win

against the Senators…The Jets had five players tally

eight hat tricks during the 2018-19 season.

20-Goal Scorers

The Jets had five 20-goal scorers last season, which

was tied with the Florida Panthers for the most in the

NHL…Kyle Connor led the team with 38 goals, while

Mark Scheifele (29), Patrik Laine (28), Nikolaj Ehlers

(22) and Blake Wheeler (21) passed the 20-goal mark…

It’s the fourth consecutive season the Jets have had

Helle Vezina

Goaltender Connor Hellebuyck won the NHL’s Vezina

Commerce, Michigan native ranked second overall

in starts (56), wins (31), and minutes (3,268:33).

Hellebuyck recorded 31 of the 37 Jets wins (83.8%),

the second-highest percentage among goaltenders

on the 24 teams set to resume play…Hellebuyck

faced 37-or-more shots on 13 occasions and posted a

10-1-2 record, 2.08 goals-against average, and a .949

save percentage in those contests, which included a

career-high 51 saves in a 3-2 win at San Jose on Nov.

1/19 where he set the franchise record for saves in

a period with 27 in the second frame…He’s the first

goaltender in franchise history to win the award.

New Blood

The Jets made several alterations to their roster

during the off-season…Winnipeg reacquired forward

Paul Stastny, who was with the club during the run to

the 2018 Western Conference Final…Free agent

for-wards Nate Thompson, Dominic Toninato, Trevor Lewis,

and Marko Dano were added, along with defenceman

Derek Forbort.

First Series

After playing single games against the Calgary Flames

and Toronto Maple Leafs to open the season, the Jets

play their first series of the season this week when

they face the Ottawa Senators for three consecutive

games in five days...The rest of Winnipeg’s schedule

against the Senators are two-game sets, aside from a

May 3 meeting in Ottawa.

Frequent Foes

After usually playing each other only twice during the

regular season, the Jets and Senators get together

for 10 meetings this season…Five of the 10 games

occur in Winnipeg’s first 14 games of the season.

Success against the Sens

Dating back to 2017, Winnipeg is 7-1-1 in their past

eight games against Ottawa…The Jets won four

con-secutive games from Feb. 19/17 to Apr. 2/18 and were

victorious in both games between the two sides last

season, during which the Jets went 6-for-10 on the

power play…Winnipeg has outscored Ottawa 37-24 in
