The Muses & the Dolomites

Opera, the Art Song, and Sacred Music

A Masterclass in vocal technique and interpretation Falcade and Caviola - Italy - Dolomites

9-18 August 2013

... Ten days intensively dedicated to classical singing. The masterclass is open to students of all ages (18+) and all levels. Lessons focus on vocal technique and/or interpretation, according to the student's needs and level. On top of this study opportunity, selected students will be able to perform in two concerts: on Friday 16 August, a concert of sacred music will be organized in the main church of Falcade, and on Sunday 18 August, an afternoon concert with a program of opera and chamber music. The teachers are Adelisa Tabiadon, soprano, and Sofia Park, pianist/repertoire coach. Spoken languages: Italian and English. Lessons will focus mainly on opera repertoire. Students are welcome to propose any sacred and chamber music repertoire they might want to work on.

This masterclass is part of the cultural initiative 'The Muses and the Dolomites', launched this year for the first time, and will be followed by the master 'Music, Humanism and Art today' (19-25 August). The location, the beautiful small town of Falcade, is situated in the very heart of the world-celebrated Dolomites, UNESCO World Heritage, an extraordinary setting that invites the beauty of nature and art to complete each other.

Each student will have 10 guaranteed lessons - one lesson per day, scheduled between 9 am and 5 pm. Both Adelisa and Sofia will be present in each lesson to teach. The organisation will provide enough spaces and pianos for the students' study needs.



Lessons are organized in the elementary school of Marmolada/Falcade, and also a number of study rooms/instruments will be available there.

Fee and lodging

Fee excluding lodging and meals: € 490.

The organisation is aiming to provide low cost lodging possibilities in apartments and/or bed and breakfast (rooms shared by participants), estimated cost 20-40 € p.p. per night. Please state your preferred lodging option on the form below and we'll do our best to accommodate you.

How to reach Falcade

The international Marco Polo Airport in Venice is linked with all the main airports with daily flights. From Venice to Falcade a private shuttle service costs 80 € one way. The organisation is happy to provide public transport information on request, and/or any other eventual information.

The maximum number of students accepted is 10. Should applications outnumber this limit, then students will be selected on the basis of audio/video material.

Adelisa Tabiadon,


Adelisa graduated in 1983 at the Conservatory “G. Verdi” of Milan, coached by M.a Giovanna Canetti. Winner of the Opera Competition “As.Li.Co” in the same year, she was able to immediately make her debut in Vivaldi's “Il Farnace” in the Teatro Piccola Scala of Milan. Two years later, she won the first prize in the international competition “Luciano Pavarotti – Opera Company of Philadelphia”, which launched her into an international carreer.

Since 1983, Adelisa has collaborated with the following theatres in Italy and abroad, always interpreting leading roles as a dramatic soprano:

She worked with the following conductors: Riccardo Chailly, Alberto Zedda, Giuseppe Patané, Roberto Abbado, Min Whon Chung, Fabio Luisi, Bruno Aprea, Antonello Allemandi, Giuliano Carella, Maurizio Barbacini, Daniel Oren, Edoardo Muller, Michelangelo Veltri, Daniele Callegari, Angelo Campori, Carlo Franci and others.

Since 1990, Adelisa teaches at the Conservatory “G. Nicolini” of Piacenza. She gladly organizes Masterclasses in and outside Italy and was main teacher at the Belcanto Festival of Dordrecht, Netherlands for over ten years.

Sofia Yoo - Kyung Park,


Born in Suwon, South Corea, she graduated in composition at the University “Yon - Sei” of Seul.

After her transfer to Italy, she succesfully finished several studies at the Conservatory “Giuseppe Verdi” of Milan: piano and harpsichord (both with full marks), vocal chamber music, organ and composition (all three cum laude). Furthermore, she specialized in harpsichord, organ and vocal chamber music obtaining cum laude Master degrees in all three disciplines.

Sofia was official accompanist of various important international postgraduate courses: Verbania, Varenna, Perugia, Castellabate,

Varallo, Erba, S.Marino, Finland, Malta etc.. As theater accompanist, she worked a.o. for the theaters of Seul, San Marino, Vercelli, Bologna, for the renowned 'Accademia di Vercelli' and for the 'Scuola Civica di Rozzano'.

She had the pleasure and honour to accompany masterclasses by such names as Helmut Deutsch, Maurizio Arena, Donato Renzetti, Giampaolo Bisanti, Franco Corelli, Leo Nucci, Giacomo Aragall, Renata Scotto, Bianca Maria Casoni, Rita Orlandi Malaspina, Adriana Maliponte, Luciana Serra, Adelisa Tabiadon, Marinella Pennicchi, Eugenia Anvelt, Dalton Baldwin, Ivari Ilia, Elio Battaglia, Lidia Stix a.o.. In 2000, she was first prize winner in the auditions for theatre accompanists “Les Jeunes Voix du Rhin - l’opera national du Rhin”, and from 2002 to 2011 she was contracted as official pianist at the Conservatory “Giuseppe Verdi” of Milano. In 2012, she won the first prize in the international chamber music competition “Guido Papini” - Città di Camaiore, and she won the first prize for best piano accompanist in the 2013 edition of the Vocal Music Competition of Emilia Romagna 'Amilcare Zanella'. Sofia's professional activities include a vast number of (solo) concerts and a large number of positions as accompanist- some further highlights from her experience:

2000-2009: organist and harpsichordist of the ’Orchestra Filarmonica di Milano';

2005-2009: official accompanist of the international opera competition “G.B.Viotti” of Vercelli; 2011-present: official accompanist of the international opera competition “Luisa Gavioli” of Milan; 2013-present: official accompanist of the international opera competition “Flaviano Labò” of Piacenza; season 2012/13- present: theatre accompanist at the Teatro Comunale of Piacenza.

She was a contracted teacher at the Accademia musicale of Vercelli; since 2006, she teaches (opera) repertoire as class accompanist at the Accademia Internazionale della Musica of Milan ('Scuola Civica' of Milan) and since 2010, she teaches at the Accademia perfezionamento di Canto “Milano Music Master” of Milan.
