Advance Tertiary College (ATC) was formed in 1987 to provide local educational opportunities for school-leavers and working adults. We aim to provide students with access to affordable tertiary and professional education, at the same time, maintaining the highest level of academic standards.

In the last decade, ATC has become the largest private law school in this region with two campuses in Malaysia (Kuala Lumpur and Penang), an affiliate centre in Singapore, and a joint venture partnership in Hong Kong with the Hong Kong Polytechnic University. Its Business School has also grown to offer a variety of Certificate , Diploma , and Degree programmes that are contemporary and market-driven.

The ATC School of Business and Management offers scholarships for its courses under the Tan Sri Alagendra and the Tan Sri Othman Merican scholarship programmes.

ATC’s School of Business and Management credits its growth in the last two decades to its strong commitment to academic excellence. This is seen in our adoption of cutting edge teaching–learning methodology and internship programmes which include the provision of research facilities that are student-centric and geared towards enhancing academic performance.

ATC’s graduates are highly employable in both local and international job sectors. ATC’s success lies in the progressive paradigm of our people who make up this remarkable institution. It is their unwavering dedication and philosophy of continuous improvement that has contributed to our excellent reputation, locally and internationally.

At ATC, we appreciate the importance of holistic education. We take pride in offering a diverse range of extra-curricular activities. This is an opportunity for our students to explore and develop their talent. WHY BUSINESS?

A business qualification will equip you with a broad range of skills. Typically, a business course covers areas including finance, marketing, accounting, information technology, human resource management, legal studies, strategy and operations. If you choose to specialise in a particular field such as Human Resource Management, you will also receive an overview of the other main disciplines, giving a more rounded perspective to enable you to fully understand the business environment in which you will be working.

Employers expect business graduates to be able to integrate seamlessly into their team and also to bring a fresh perspective to the challenges and daily tasks that face them. They expect graduates to be informed, inspired, and quick-thinking. The typical entry-level positions for business graduates such as trainee manager, finance specialist, trainee accountant, human resource executive, assistant brand manager, junior economist, etc, provide graduates with an excellent induction into the working world, which enables them to take advantage of further opportunities within their chosen career field.

Due to the rapid globalisation of today’s and indeed, tomorrow’s marketplace, the business graduate needs to be able to understand the intricacies involved in international and multinational operations. A business qualification will teach you the skills and understanding necessary to take a position within any multinational corporation, or with indigenous companies involved in the export market.

Business is a challenging and rewarding course of study which will take you from the theoretical to the practical, equip you with world-recognised qualifications to take you where you want to go in your career, and provide you with the skills to succeed in business and in life.

WHY ATC’s

SCHOOL OF BUSINESS AND

MANAGEMENT?

ATC’s School of Business and Management’s growth in the last two decades is credited to its strong commitment to academic excellence. The school’s core theme is developing the thinking professional, fit for business, and fit for life. We ensure that all our students receive training in all professional skills and competencies necessary to succeed in their chosen fields. However, we don’t just stop there. The incorporation of the internship programme which is compulsory for all our business students leads to our students having the opportunity to apply their learning in challenging real-world business environments, enhancing the learning acquired in the lecture hall, and exposing students to situations in which they must think on their feet and prove their abilities.

The School of Business and Management lecturing staff is made up of experienced, dedicated academic specialists, with strong links to the industry and to its professions, either through their industrial careers or research. This is important in many ways, the most significant being their ability to relate the academic teaching material to current business practice and to bring this across to their students in ways that are meaningful and thought-provoking.

The collaboration with St Mary’s University College (UK) to conduct their Bachelor in Management Studies degree programme is another milestone for ATC’s School of Business and Management. St Mary University College was founded in 1850 to meet the need for teachers and provide an education for the growing number of poor children. Furthermore, St Mary’s has a strong academic performance with an excellent track record of placing graduates in good employment or appropriate postgraduate study.

ATC also offers Certificate in Business Studies, Diploma in Management and Diploma in Marketing programmes for SPM school leavers as a pathway to their degree studies (either in Year 1 or 2)

PROFESSIONAL INDUSTRIAL

TRAINING

When you study for your Diploma or Degree at ATC, theory and academic study are only part of the picture. Our Industry Training or Internship programme is an equally important part of our curriculum. It is not just the gaining of valuable experience, but it also form a structured and supervised part of your course.

During the fourth semester of your studies, you will work with our Career Services team who will prepare you for your employment opportunity and by meeting our professional standards, you can accrue the industry training hours required to obtain your Diploma / Degree.

The college Career Services office will assess your skill levels and aptitude, and prepare you for this important phase of your education. You will be taught how to collate a resume, conduct yourself in interviews, and find out more about what your prospective employers look for. A series of mock interviews and individual pre-placement sessions wil provide you with invaluable feedback and confidence.

Daniel Joseph Tay Li-Chung

Program : Diploma in Management

Studying at Advance Tertiary College (ATC) has been one of the best choices that I’ve made in my life. ATC came recommended by relatives. It was good for me to take up the challenge of being in a new environment. Being taught by lecturers with corporate experience has been an eye-opening experience, for me and I’m sure, for all the students. As far as I can relate, I’m sure this college - as it consistently grows - will be a new home to all students as they come and go.

Tan Sur Yong

Program : Diploma in Marketing

Choosing ATC as the institution to persue my higher education was absolutely the right choice to make. The main reason I chose ATC to persue my Diploma in Marketing was because of its lecturers. They have been friendly to us from day one, instead of being aloof and setting themselves apart from us. They treat the students as they would their own children. We are encouraged to share our problems with them and they will try their level best to provide solutions. The Skill Enhancement Programme makes studying at ATC a special experience. I have learnt how to manage my emotions and communicate more effectively with friends and family through this programme. This is important for my future as I am unable to learn these things through books and this programme has help me to develop these practical skills.
