OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST, KING OF THE UNIVERSE
Our Parish Mission:
“Everyday we reach to restore all things in Jesus Christ”
Sometimes It’s Hard to Ask for Help
We’re brought up to be strong, selfͲsufficient, independent people. We tend to think that if we ask for help, it is a sign of weakness. So we try to keep our struggles hidden, stuffed deep inside.
However, that’s not God’s plan. Gala ans 6:2 says, “Bear one another's burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.” God wants us to care for othersͶand allow others to care for us in our me of need.
If you’re sad or struggling inside, don’t suffer alone. Ask for help. We’ve got a team of Stephen Ministers who are ready to listen, care, encourage, pray, and help you through a tough me. (It’s confiden al too!) Find out more about Stephen Ministry by talking with one of our Stephen Leaders: Emily (224Ͳ6296) or Dick (469Ͳ0615).

St. Pius X Pastor’s Pastoral Page on Facebook Wednesday, November 10, 2021
Good Morning World. It is November 10th, Wednesday of the 32nd week in ordinary time.
November 10th is the memorial of Pope Saint Leo the Great. The readings for today’s mass (including an audio version) may be found atusccb.org.
The gospel is from Luke 17:1119
“When it comes to life the critical thing is whether you take things for granted or take them with gratitude.” G.K. Chesterton (catholic
link.org)
I can’t blame the nine. If I was afflicted with leprosy and separated from my family and my community and then miraculously cured, I think I would run pellmell home, too! They aren’t bad people. I guess I just see them as anxious to be reunited with their families.
And I guess I just see the Samaritan as being in a little different place. This man had an
awareness of God that allowed him to recognize the activity of God in his life.
This man had to overcome the completely normal, human impulse to be reunited with his family to come back to Jesus to say thank you.
This man had to overcome the strong, deep sentiments that divided Samaritans and Jews to come back and fall at the feet of this Jewish Rabbi to say thank you.
The awareness of the activity of God was not only in his mind, it was in his heart and it impelled him to come back, glorifying God in a loud voice and thanking Jesus.
This man did not take his healing for granted.
He took it with gratitude.
It’s a lesson for you and for me, World.
And I’m thankful for the lesson.

CHRISTMAS GIVING TREE
Social Ministry will be sponsoring the Christmas Giving Tree project again this year, beginning next weekend (November 2728th.)
Due to the ongoing restrictions established because of the Corona virus, we will continue to follow the plan we established last year (in the hallway of the Parish Center).
We will again have colorful tags (approximately 380) that you can choose from.
Each tag is colorcoded by agency (see agency list below), and the gift items requested are written on the tag.
A poster will be set up just inside the door to the Parish Center with a display of the tags and the agencies represented.
The tags will be arranged by color/agency, and available for pickup on tables in the front hallway of the Parish Center after weekend Masses.
Each tag will have 3 suggested gift items. You only need to choose one item. (However you can take as many tags as you wish.). Suggested expenditure is approximately $25 per item.
Volunteers will direct each person/family to the table where they can pick up their tag/s. Masks and social distancing are encouraged at all times.
All gifts should be wrapped, with the tag SECURELY attached, and returned to the Parish Center after Masses. All gifts must be returned by Sunday, December 12th.
**Representatives from the agencies will be picking up the gifts at 11:00AM
Catholic Charities Community Services²(red church tag) (A notfor profit agency offering services for persons with

My name is Claire Yates, and I am currently a sixth grade student at Gates Chili Middle School. I was fortunate enough to attend Saint Pius Tenth School from PreK through fifth grade.
Starting middle school, I was excited. I knew I was ready for the challenges ahead because of my time at Saint Pius. I always felt a sense of community that I knew I would not get anywhere else. There were many opportunities for me to become part of a community through activities like Run Club, Art Club, Service Club and even participating in school masses. I always felt at home when I was there.
Saint Pius truly is the reason I felt so ready to start middle school. I was able to attend school all 5 days

last year which many other schools could not do. This meant that I was able to keep up with my work and see my friends every day. Saint Pius is also the reason I have become more confident in myself and my academic studies. The teachers challenged me each day to do my best and work hard.
Not only has Saint Pius helped me with academics, but it has also helped to strengthen my faith in God. If there was one thing that Saint Pius taught me, it would be that my relationship with God is my most important relationship. We had masses, prayers in the beginning and ending of each day, and religion classes to help strengthen our relationship with God. God has guided me throughout my years at Saint Pius, and I have no doubt that He will continue to guide me as I go through middle school.

INSPIRATION FOR THE WEEK
God is wonderfully and surprisingly creative! He turns the tables on our understanding of what it means to be a king by sending us a king who embraces poverty, insults, suffering, ridicule, rejection, and even death. This is our king. Jesus is not the king of prestige or grandeur but the king who brings light to darkness, hope to despair, sinners to mercy, and new life out of death. God dances on, around, in and through all of the silliness and ugliness of the world bringing all of creation to the eternal dance of new life and hope. Whether we accept it now or hope that we one day do, Christ is king of the universe. Christ is the alpha and the omega, the beginning and the end.
Every human being, even those who scorned and rejected him and failed to see him in the least of our brothers and sisters will look upon him. Only those who understand truth will understand that we are on this awesome universal journey to Christ. It is a journey of surprises but also a journey of enlightenment when we will one day see and experience with the deepest joy our being in Christ. We will be restless until we are all one day together united in Christ our King. ©LPi

SWEM Community Services 5852354494
We often come to life expecting all of the pieces of the puzzle to nicely fit together. We want and expect harmony, order, and fairness, the achievement of rewards for good behavior, good health, and happiness.
We can more easily accept death when it comes naturally after a good long life, but have a real difficulty comprehending the meaning of it all when it is cut short.
Willing to put in a good measure of effort, we desire positive results. When things go wrong and life gets hurtful, unjust, and downright ugly, we become unsettled and can quickly fall into despair. This is especially true if we are people of faith who believe in a God who sees things on our terms and works in favor of our life agenda. What happens to our faith when we find ourselves sitting in a mess?
Does it help to know that God understands and that hardship, failure, disappointment, injustice, confusion, and all of life’s ugliness do not make faith irrelevant or irrational? God is wonderfully and surprising creative!
He turns the tables on not only our understanding of life, but of what it means to be a king. God sends us a king who is not exempt from life’s ills but embraces them.
The king that God gives to us knows what it means to be poor, suffer insults, be ridiculed, face rejection, endure suffering, be betrayed, and face a most unjust and horrific death. This is our king. Jesus is not a king of prestige or grandeur but a king who brings light to darkness, hope to despair, sinners to mercy, and new life out of death. Christ dances before us pleading with us to hold on, cling to love, avoid being negative, stop feeling cheated, and be strong in faith! There may be hardship and disappointment now but there are more surprises to come.
Once we understand this truth, we will also understand that we are on a most incredible and awesome universal journey to Christ and becoming one in Christ. We all carry within us the image of God, the image of our suffering king. The One who lives in us also lives in all of our brothers and sisters. Failing to see this universal Divine Presence in all is one of the greatest mistakes we can make, for we also fail to see God, our king, as well.
There are many things that can bring hardship to life. If we keep our head about us and do not lose hope, we can persevere and strive for the greatest degree of justice possible. Even though there are ample things that can challenge our faith, we also know that our deepest joy comes from union with God and our brothers and sisters. One
day, the
fullness of that joy will be ours to have when we are all eternally one with Christ our King forever. ©LPi

EVERYDAY STEWARDSHIP
Long Live the King
Did you know that you can become royalty, for the right price? It’s true ² for the low, low cost of $50, you, too, can purchase a 12squareinch souvenir plot of Scottish land and call yourself “Laird Soandso.”
Now, this lordship or ladyship doesn’t come with the ability to boss anyone around, but maybe your friends will be impressed enough to bend the knee.
My point is, we’ve all got our own little fiefdoms ² folks or communities for which we have a feeling of responsibility. Maybe we’re not their “king,” but most of us have those we think of as “our people.”
Now, in this world, people lay themselves down for their kings. History is riddled with the bodies of men, young and old ² and plenty of women and children, too ² who were casualties of wars waged by men in power, men who never had to shed their own blood.
But in the next world, the King dies for his people.
This is leadership par excellence ² the leadership of someone whose love is greater than his ambition.
We are all leaders of a sort. On the parish level, you have the obvious roles ² serving on pastoral council, spearheading the capital campaign, leading the Altar Guild. But you also have the quiet ones who lead from the wings ² the janitor who can always be relied upon to do his job, or the volunteer librarian who puts in extra hours on the weekends.
There is a saying ² find your people. I say, find your people, and find a way to lay yourself down for them, in imitation of the greatest King that ever was.
