The TOEFL ITP® Assessment Series offers colleges and universities, English language learning programs and other organizations the opportunity to administer a convenient, affordable and reliable assessment of their students’ English-language skills.

Based on the rich heritage of the TOEFL®test – the world’s most widely accepted and respected

English-language assessment – TOEFL ITP tests are administered in a paper-based format and allow you to measure and evaluate your students’ English-language skills with confidence.

The TOEFL test and the TOEFL ITP Assessment Series have separate purposes and are

administered differently – it is important to use the test that is appropriate for your purposes:  The TOEFL ITP Assessment Series is administered by an individual institution, or by an

ETS Preferred Network office, and the scores are to be used only by individual institution for placement, progress monitoring, exit testing and other situations.  The TOEFL test is a high-stakes assessment administered worldwide at secure

ETS-approved test centers. TOEFL scores are used to make high-stakes decisions such as student admissions.

The TOEFL ITP Assessment Series cannot be used as a substitute for the TOEFL test.

There are seven ways you can use the TOEFL ITP® assessment series:

1. Placement in intensive English-language programs requiring academic English proficiency at a college or graduate level.

2. Progress monitoring in English-language programs stressing academic English proficiency.

3. Exiting English-language programs by demonstrating proficiency in English listening and reading.

4. Admissions to short-term, non-degree programs in English-speaking countries where the sending and receiving institutions agree to use TOEFL ITP scores. 5. Admissions to undergraduate and graduate degree programs in non-English

speaking countries where English is not the dominant form of instruction.

6. Admissions and placement in collaborative international degree programs where English-language training will be a feature of the program.

7. Scholarship programs, as contributing documentation for academic English proficiency.
