The Nile and the Amazon are longer, but the Ganges is very important to the people in India. 400 million people live near this river. It gives them food and water to use for washing their clothes or having a bath. There are more than 100 different types of fish swimming in these waters and also sharks and dolphins! The Ganges today is very dirty and the sharks and dolphins are endangered. People are in danger, too, because they also drink from the river. THE FOX AND THE LION

Lesedi is an old, but intelligent lion. Animals in Kenya go to him when they need advice. But Lesedi is sad. He hasn’t got any friends because all the animals say he’s dangerous. Fadwa the young fox sees Lesedi every day, but she never talks to him. She’s too afraid! Lesedi is bigger and he runs faster than Fadwa. One day, Fadwa is drinking water from the river. She looks up and who does she see? Lesedi, drinking water next to her! She quickly runs away. The next week, Fadwa is walking home when she hears, ‘Hello!’ It’s Lesedi! Fadwa answers, ‘Hi’ in a soft voice. ‘He’s stronger than me, but he isn’t scary,’ she thinks. Two days later, they meet again under the big tree. They start talking and quickly become best friends. Lesedi isn’t sad anymore and Fadwa isn’t afraid.
