Nokia Reading

Tired of carrying books around? Discover and buy e-books that you can read on your phone. You can also listen to audiobooks and read the news.

On the start screen, swipe left, and tap Nokia Reading.

Some books are free of charge; others you need to pay for. To buy a book from the book store, you need a Nokia account and a valid credit card. The card must have been issued in the same country where your book store is located.

Using services or downloading content may cause transfer of large amounts of data, which may result in data traffic costs.

When using this device, obey all laws and respect local customs, privacy and legitimate rights of others, including copyrights. Copyright protection may prevent you from copying, modifying, or transferring images, music, and other content.

Nokia account

Your Nokia account is the key to Nokia services. With your Nokia account, you can, for example:

• Access Nokia services with a single username and password on your computer or phone. • Download content from Nokia services

• Save details about your phone model and contact info. You can also add your payment card details to your Nokia account.

The available services may vary.

Buy a book

Found a book you like? Get the e-book to your phone in a heartbeat.

1. On the start screen, swipe left, and tap Nokia Reading. 2. Swipe to book store.

3. Tap the book you want to buy, tap buy, and give your payment info.

Read a book

When you have a moment to yourself, why not sit down with a book and relax?

1. On the start screen, swipe left, and tap Nokia Reading. 2. Swipe to my books, and tap a book.

When you stop reading, your position is saved. When you open the book again, you can continue reading from where you were.

Tip: To quickly open the book you are currently reading, pin the book to the start screen. When

reading the book, tap the screen, and tap .

Tip: Is your recent books list looking a little cluttered? You can delete the books you've read –

they are available to download again later.

Go to the next or previous page

Swipe left or right.

Change the text size

Tap the screen, and tap > Size.

View the table of contents

Tap the screen, and tap .

Skim the book

Tap the screen, and drag the slider at the top of the screen.

Listen to an audiobook

Want to enjoy a book while jogging or doing housework? You can listen to audiobooks with your phone.

1. On the start screen, swipe left, and tap Nokia Reading. 2. Swipe to my books, and tap an audiobook.

When you stop listening, your position is saved. When you open the audiobook again, you can continue listening from where you were.

Read the news

Keep up with what's going on in the world. You can subscribe to your favourite web feeds and get the latest news to your phone. Nokia Reading already has a few news streams to get you started, but you can add more feeds that interest you.

1. On the start screen, swipe left, and tap Nokia Reading. 2. Swipe to news stream, and tap a news stream.

Tip: To quickly get your news fix, pin your favourite streams to the start screen. Tap and hold

the stream, and tap pin to start.

Add a news stream

Swipe up, tap , search for topics, and tap the feeds you want.

Pinned news streams are updated every 30 minutes if you're using a Wi-Fi connection, and every 3 hours if you're using a mobile data connection. If you don't have a data plan and don't want the streams to be updated automatically, in the main view, tap settings > background update, and switch

Update over 3G to off . The availability of web feeds may vary.

Change the brightness or switch night mode on

Reading in bright sunlight? It's easier to read if you make the screen brighter. Or lying in bed in the dark? Switch night mode on (it also uses less power).

1. On the start screen, swipe left, and tap Nokia Reading. 2. Tap a book.

3. Tap the screen, tap , and drag the Brightness slider. Switch night mode on

Tap the screen, tap , and switch Night mode to On .

Lock the view to portrait or landscape mode

Does the orientation keep switching when you move about? You can lock the orientation.

1. On the start screen, swipe left, and tap Nokia Reading.

2. When reading a book, turn your phone to the orientation you want. 3. Tap the screen, tap , and switch Orientation lock to On .

Delete a book from your phone

Running low on space in your phone? You can delete books and download them again later if needed.

1. On the start screen, swipe left, and tap Nokia Reading. 2. Swipe to my books, and tap more.

3. Tap and hold the book, and tap add to archive.

The deleted books remain in your library, and you can download them again later, unless events beyond the control of Nokia occur.

Download a book that is in your library, but not in your phone

Tap > view archived books, and tap the book.

Import books from SkyDrive

If you have DRM-free e-books in ePub or PDF format and you upload them to SkyDrive, you can import them to Nokia Reading. SkyDrive is a cloud storage that you can use to access your documents from your phone.

1. On the start screen, swipe left, and tap Nokia Reading. 2. Swipe to my books, and tap more.

3. Tap .

4. Sign in to your Microsoft account. 5. Tap the books you want to import.
