PRELUDE HYMN #336 (GG) “We Gather Together”

* HYMN OF PRAISE #10 (GG) “Sing Glory to the Name of God” CALL TO CONFESSION

PRAYER OF CONFESSION (unison, Book of Common Worship)

Eternal God, in whom we live and move and have our being, whose face is hidden from us by our sins, and whose mercy we forget in the blindness of our hearts: Cleanse us from all our offenses, and deliver us from proud thoughts and vain desires, that with reverent and humble hearts we may draw near to you, confessing our faults, confiding in your grace, and finding in you our refuge and strength; through Jesus Christ your Son.

One: Friends believe the good news!

All: In Jesus Christ, we are forgiven!

SERMON Rev. Dr. Larry Hill “God’s Awesome Creation” (Psalm 139:13-18) AFFIRMATION OF FAITH – Apostles’ Creed (unison)

I believe in God, the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth; and in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; he descended into hell; the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth at the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence He shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy Catholic Church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen

SELECTION “Blessed Assurance”

POSTLUDE HYMN #632(AA) “Lord Make Me More Holy”

WORSHIP with First Presbyterian

We will be worshipping with First Presbyterian Church every 4th Sunday. Be sure to tune in to their TV ministry on channel 64 - WAXN on 4th Sundays.

Ten Cents-a Meal

We Can Make a Huge Difference when ALL participate. Using the same passage Two and Five Cents-a-Meal has used since 1982…. “Verily I say unto you, inasmuch as you have done it unto

one of the least of my brothers you have done it unto me.” ….. –Matthew 25:45. Please consider

a gift to Ten Cents-a-Meal every 1st Sunday.

We believe God has given each of us unique gifts and called us to serve. Sharing God’s love in a tangible way through service is a reflection of our faith and Christ’s example.

It is the responsibility of this team to maintain the facilities and grounds. To do this takes a lot of volunteer coordination between the Facilities and Maintenance (F&M) Team, Administration Unit, staff and the congregation, as approved by the Session.

The Facilities and Maintenance Team will meet bi-monthly (days and time TBA). December and summer months may be excluded. Team members should be able to work together to find solutions to a variety of issues ranging from heating to roofing, electrical, and plumbing repairs, as well as the outdoor maintenance of the grounds, and also with due consideration of the need for upkeep of the overall appearance. It is a plus for F&M Team members to be willing to volunteer for labor on occasion to help save on costs.

It takes significant funds and volunteer teamwork to maintain our facilities and grounds. Maintaining our house of worship in service to the Risen Christ is part of the mission of First United Presbyterian Church. Among the duties of Facilities and Maintenance are:

 Determining the scope of work to be done and whether or not the team feels the work can be performed by qualified church members or whether it should be posted for bids and contracted out to a qualified contractor.

 Contracting vendors in coordination with the Office Manager (as approved by Session from Administration Unit)

 Obtaining bids and making recommendations on the repair and/or replacement of the church’s mechanical systems and equipment

 Obtaining bids and making recommendations for such services as cleaning, lawn care, and snow removal.

 Yearly inspection of building and grounds, reviewing findings and making recommendations on the annual F&M Team budget.

 Long range planning for maintenance and improvement of the facilities and grounds.

The Habitat Ministry Good News that this year's recipient , Thesh, has moved in and is loving her home, in our Weekly Announcements and printed Bulletin. I believe our website includes a Habitat Ministry section, if so, this Praise report should be included along with the other pictures and information shared with our church family during our Habitat build. The Christian Nurture/Service Ministry Team facilitates the congregation's work in this outreach ministry.

What a great start to this holiday week!

I met our new homeowner, Robbin Cunningham, and her youngest child at the Restore and look who else we found! The Spencer brothers! Robbin, her daughter JayDa , and I worked on setting up a Christmas in July display. Had a ball! Robbin is delightful and works for Spectrum, her days off are Sunday and Monday. She has 5 kids ..2 sets of twins, JayDa is the youngest and is 17. She gave me permission to send this pic and to introduce her to you all. I gave her the run-down of how the partners work..she can’t wait! She is in need of help on Mondays. She works 9 to 1 usually wherever Habitat places her....Wendover Restore mostly. If you or someone from your church has time and is willing to help, let me know. I will say having worked on a few Saturdays with Eboni last summer that I much prefer Mondays! Quieter, less busy, etc. Enjoy a fun and hot and safe holiday weekend... Blessings to all, Marwen
