plan for it—as a continuous timeline. Most importantly,

professional, as an investor and as an individual.

When does financial planning begin? It can be as soon

as when you start your first job, have your first child,

transition careers or at any moment when you begin

planning for the future. As your life changes and you

move from one stage to another, we can help you

reevaluate your plan to meet those changes and the

needs they create.

Financial Planning—Five Steps To Your Future

janney’s five-step process allows us to help you express your needs so we can best address them together. Research

The first step in setting the course to your financial future is to help you identify and prioritize your goals, both short- and long-term. We also consider a num-ber of other factors, such as investment time horizon and risk tolerance. Next, we help you take an ‘inven-tory’ of your financial resources, including all of your assets, liabilities, sources of income and other perti-nent financial items.

Your goals may include: Preparing for retirement

• Education planning • Wealth accumulation • Wealth preservation • analysis

With your goals in hand, we can analyze and evaluate your current financial resources and situation, such as investment cash flow, net worth, insurance policies and tax projections. We will use this information to determine any areas at issue or of concern, identify opportunities and develop a plan to help you reach your goals.

Our assessment incorporates your future income and investment needs while seeking to potentially reduce your exposure to risk and the impact of taxation. We can assist with, among others, the following areas:

Investments

Retirement income planning

• Retirement planning • Employee benefits • Estate planning • Insurance •

Special needs, such as caring for a parent or a

child’s educational needs

Recommendations

After we identify and evaluate your current financial situation, we then design a plan for you that will include a number of specific recommendations, along with prudent alternatives and their benefits and risks. Our aim is to create a plan that is posi-tioned to achieve your objectives with the least amount of potential risk associated with the markets, liabilities and taxes.

implementation

Once agreed upon by you, we will coordinate and implement the financial plan. Implementation can involve a variety of actions depending on the scope and complexity of your plan and may require that you reposition assets, implement certain charitable giving strategies, create trusts or even a foundation to accom-plish your estate planning goals. Adjustments are made only after consultation with you, to ensure that we keep in line with your needs and objectives.

We can suggest we work closely with your existing network of other professionals (or make recommenda-tions, should you need them), including attorneys and accountants, who can assist with the implementation of your plan. This coordination helps to ensure that all documents, services and products related to your plan will be consistent with your objectives and goals.

Some questions to consider…

The financial planning process begins with uncover-ing and understanduncover-ing your needs and goals. Before we ‘get down to numbers,’ it is essential that we ‘get down to basics,’ learning who you are as an individual and as an investor. Most importantly, we want you to understand yourself in those regards. To help you begin that process, it is often helpful to ask yourself the following questions.

ask yourself…

What do I want to accomplish today?

Ten years from now? Twenty years from now?

What are my interests and passions in life?

My family’s?

What is the greatest hope for me?

My family?

What are my financial goals for me?

My family?

What are my financial concerns?

My family’s?

Are there any forseeable issues which could affect

achieving my goals? When do I plan to retire?

How do I ensure that my assets will be preserved for

me—and my loved ones?

By considering these questions, you will develop the answers that, ultimately, will help us help you address the present and prepare for the future.
