Class Desktop Workstation

Microsoft Windows NT, 2000 or XP must be installed on the workstation before installing Class. Please refer to the Windows Installation guide for instructions.

Class 5.2 requires Internet Explorer 5.50.2314 or greater as well as MDAC 2.7. The auto run pre-install screen will check for both of these requirements and provide quick launch buttons to their respective installers.

Workstations which reports will be customized on will require Crystal Decisions’ (formerly Seagate Software’s) Crystal Reports 8.5 installed, which requires an additional 100MB-200MB of hard disk space. These workstations should meet the minimum hardware requirements for multiple modules.

The minimum amount of hard disk space is for a ‘complete’ install. If only select core modules are installed, this number will decrease; the exact amount will depend on the modules/databases installed.

Minimum available disk space is for the Class installation only. Sufficient free hard disk space will be required after the installation to allow for the operating system page file or swap file.

Class Database Server

Important: These are general guidelines. Many factors can impact server requirements such as number of users, network configuration, and other non-Class databases running concurrently on the server. Please consult The Active Network directly for site-specific recommendations.

Class 5.2 supports the following databases: Microsoft SQL Server 7 and 2000 SP3, Oracle 8.1.7, 9.0.x and 9.2.0.2- 9.2.0.x, and Microsoft MSDE.

Note: If you have a lower version of these databases (Microsoft SQL Server 6.5 or Oracle 7.X or 8.0.X,) you will need to upgrade to a supported version of the database prior to upgrading to Class 5.2.

Note: If you are using an MS Access or SQL Anywhere database, you will need to convert to a supported database platform before upgrading to Class 5.2. Please contact Class Customer Care for assistance and more information.

Payment Server

In addition to hardware requirements, the following are the software requirements for Payment Server:

IP requires a 3^rd party application that is not included with Payment Server; please contact your Class Sales representative for more information.

Sites should contact Class Customer Care before switching or upgrading to Payment Server.

For the majority of configurations, the Registration Processing Service does not have to be installed on a dedicated server. It can be installed on a Payment Processing Server, IVR Server (NOT eConnect), or

LAN/WAN Configuration

It is difficult to specify minimum and recommended specifications for LAN/WAN connection speeds that will give acceptable performance. In every network, there are many variables including hardware, configuration of IIS, database server and client computer specifications, database platform, operating systems, number of internal clients, number of external clients, activities being run by the clients, etc. Class has only performance tested specific configurations.

The Class client application is designed to run on a Windows platform. For optimal database connectivity, we recommend the network be configured to use TCP/IP for communication. Oracle, SQL Server, and MSDE are the supported database platforms. Locations with low bandwidth database connectivity can benefit substantially from the use of Citrix Metaframe and Terminal Services. Our consultants can provide specific

recommendations for your site through scheduled discussions with your network support staff.

Combining Server Modules on One Server

At smaller sites, several Class server modules can be combined on a single PC. However, eConnect Server is the one server module that should always be installed on its own server, since it should be in the DMZ on the other side of the firewall from your other Class servers.
