Lab SBS14.FARM_Hyper-V - Using SharePoint with Outlook and Lync

Study Chapter 14 in the course book ”Microsoft SharePoint 2013 Step by Step”.

Lue kurssikirjan ”Microsoft SharePoint 2013 Step by Step” luku 14.

The exercises in Chapter 14 are performed using the Sharepoint2013 virtual machine. Additional

information is in the textbook.

Before starting the exercise several tasks must be performed.

The SMTP services are installed and configured in the Server 2012 environment to enable

outgoing email.

To install the SMTP service, use the Add Features Wizard in Server Manager. The wizard creates a default SMTP configuration. You can customize this default SMTP configuration to meet the requirements of your organization.

1. Start the Sharepoint2013 virtual machine (ActionStart).

2. Log in (ActionCtr+Alt+Delete) as SP\Administrator (password Pa$$w0rd). 3. In Server Manager, click Add roles and features. Click Next and Next. 4. Select the Sharepoint2013 server and click Next.

5. Click Features.

6. On the Select Features page, select SMTP Server. Click Add Features. Then click Next. 7. On the Confirm Installation Selections page, click Install.

8.

On the Installation Results page, ensure that the installation is complete, and then click Close.

Configure the SMTP service

4. Right-click the SMTP virtual server, and then click Properties. 5. On the Access tab, in the Access control area, click Authentication.

6. In the Authentication dialog box, verify that Anonymous access is selected. 7. Click OK.

8. On the Access tab, in the Relay restrictions area, click Relay.

9. To enable relayed email messages to any server, click All except the list below.

Click OK to close the Relay Restrictions dialog box.

Click OK to close the Properties dialog box.

12.

Close Internet Information Services (IIS) 6.0 Manager.

Set the SMTP service to start automatically

1. In Server Manager Click ToolsServices.

2. In Services, right-click Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP), and then select Properties. 3. In the Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP) Properties dialog box, on the General tab, in the

Startup type list, select Automatic.

Click OK.

5.

Close Services.

Install Exchange 2013 Web Services Managed API 2.0

1. Open Internet Explorer.

2. Download EWSManagedAPI.msi from the Microsoft Download Center

(http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=35371). Select Save in the download selection.

3. Click Run.

7. Open PowerShell and give command iisresret.

Configure outgoing email for a farm

1. Open the SharePoint Central Administration site. 2. In Central Administration, click System Settings.

3. On the System Settings page, in the E-Mail and Text Messages (SMS) section, click Configure

outgoing e-mail settings.

4. On the Outgoing E-Mail Settings page, in the Mail Settings section, type the SMTP server name for outgoing email (for example, mail.metropolia.fi) in the Outbound SMTP server box.

5. Click OK.

Configure outgoing email for your own account

1.

In Central Administration, click Manage Service Applications.

2.

Click User Profile Service Application.

3.

On the Manage profile Service page, click Manage User Profiles.

4.

On the Manage User Profiles page, type your account in the Find profiles box and click Find.

Select your account and on the right click small arrow and select Edit My profile.

6.

Type your email address in the Work email field.

7.

Click Save and Close.

8.

Close Central Administration.

Upload and activate solution Chapter14 Starter.wsp as follows:

1. Open site http://wideworldimporters in Internet Explorer. If prompted, type the user name

SP\Administrator and password Pa$$w0rd, and click OK.

2. On the top right of the screen, click the Settings button (“the gear”), and then select Site settings. The Site Settings page of the top level site is displayed.

4. Click the Upload Solution button on the left of the Solutions ribbon. The Add Document dialog is displayed. In the Add Document dialog, click Browse.

5. In the Choose File to Upload dialog, go to the practice files folder C:\Documents\Microsoft

Press\SP2013SBS\Chapter09. Click the

Chapter14_Starter.wsp file, and then click Open. In the

Add Document dialog, click OK to upload the file.

6. In the Solution Gallery - Activate Solution dialog, click the Activate button. The Solution Gallery is displayed. Validate that the template has been uploaded and activated.

Create a new practice child site based upon the uploaded WSP template.

1. Click Home. Click the Settings button, and then click Site contents.

2. In the Site Contents page, scroll to the bottom of the page and click new subsite.

3. In the New SharePoint Site page, in the Title text box, type “Chapter14” as a name for the new site 4. In the URL name text box, enter “chapter14”.

5. In the Template Selection section, click the Custom tab and select the Chapter14_Starter template, which is now available.

6. You can leave all the other options at their default values and click the Create button.

Configure Outlook for Chapter 14 exercise tasks.

The best way is to use Exchange mail server, e.g. metropolia.fi. Also IMAP servers are possible, but they need more configuring.

1. Start Outlook 2013 (Search for Outlook 2013 and click icon). 2. Click Next.

3. Select Yes and click Next. 4. Setup E-mail account:

 Type your name

 Type your E-mail address  Type and retype your password. 5. Click Next.

textbook. Attach the screen captures marked in the text book to the lab workbook.
