This process should be used to change the required or elective coursework in a graduate or professional major, or  the eight‐semester plan or critical tracking in an undergraduate major. To change the total credits, limited access  status, major name, delivery platform or funding model, follow the procedures at http://approval.ufl.edu.  Instructions for completing this form are on the last page.

  5. Proposed Changes 

The RN to BS degree is being re‐opened within the College of Nursing undergraduate program with major  changes. The track will compose of 31 credit hours.  The program will be an online program. 

6. Pedagogical Rationale/Justification 

With the increasing complexity of the health care environment, the impact of educational levels on patient out‐ comes, and the changing expectations of employers, it is vital that RNs with associate degree seek higher  degrees. Therefore starting the e CON’s RN‐BS Completion Program will allows Registered Nurse with  associate’s degree in nursing from an accredited program to earn their BS in Nursing.   

7. Projected Impact on Initial Enrollment, Retention, Graduation 

We proposing to accept 30 students annually, so that mean we are expanding our undergraduate total  enrolments. This will imply we will have more graduates from our program, we do not anticipate that this  program will affect retention at all.  This program will have no impact on our current undergraduate programs. 

 Prepare a document showing the catalog copy with the current and proposed curricula either in a side‐by‐ side comparison or edited using the “track changes” feature in Word. 

 Prepare supporting documentation from other colleges indicating availability of seats in courses that are  affected by the change in credits and support for the proposed application, if overlap is a concern.

Program for Registered Nurses - RN to BSN

The College of Nursing offers a course of study for associate degree registered nurses (RN) who desireto earn a baccalaureate degree in nursing. The program is designed for working nurses and can be 

completed in 5 semesters of primarily online part‐time study.  RN to BSN students will earn 30 upper level credit hours based upon current RN licensure and by completion of a professional portfolio at the end of 3rd semester. meet college graduation requirements through credit by examination, classroom attendance and clinical experiences. A class schedule is tailored to meet the needs of working RNs.

The baccalaureate prepared nurse is equipped to manage complex and changing healthcare environments of the future. Course work focuses on development of problem solving professional nursing practice and includes content that will broaden and strengthen the registered nurse student’s preparation for professional nursing practice. repertoire of knowledge and skills. Content includes pathophysiology, pharmacology, health assessment, professional socialization, finance, health care delivery, research and family/community nursing. Clinical experiences are with individuals, families and groups in community settings.

The practicum is the culminating clinical experience and provides an opportunity for integration and

synthesis of professional role behaviors and evidence-based practice. An elective permits students to pursue individual interests and to avail themselves of knowledge from other disciplines.

A current unencumbered Florida registered nurse license is required in addition to the criteria for enrollment in the college’s undergraduate nursing courses.

Minimum Application Requirements (In addition to meeting all UF

Transfer Admission Requirements):

Associate of Science degree in nursing from an ACEN (formerly NLNAC) accredited program..

Active, unencumbered Florida RN license

Completion of two sequential courses of foreign language in secondary school or 8-10 semester hours at the postsecondary level, or

documentation of an equivalent level of proficiency.

An overall GPA of at least 2.8.

A grade of C or better in all required pre-professional courses.

Two professional reference from persons familiar with your recent work

A statement of intent, that does not exceed two typed (double-spaced) pages that discuss your expectations of the BSN program and your goals

Fulfillment of the College Level Academic Skills Test (CLAST) requirement.

Satisfactory completion of communication and computation requirements.

Required Before Enrolling in Nursing Courses

An active license to practice as a registered nurse in Florida prior to clinical courses.

Certification in basic cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) for health care providers.
