According to Gartner's CIO Top 10 Technology Priorities in 2012, mobile technology was ranked second, ahead of cloud computing.

Mobile office represented by Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) is becoming a new style of working.

Using their own intelligent mobile terminals, employees can receive and send enterprise emails, access enterprise resources, and process enterprise businesses anywhere. At the same time, by implementing mobility technologies into marketing, office automation (OA), and services, enterprises can improve employee satisfaction and offer additional values to customers, which helps enterprises create more business values.

Huawei believes that a transition from the traditional office to BYOD involves three phases: OA mobility and collaboration, service mobility, and service innovation. 2% of the enterprises around the globe are using mobility technologies for their service innovation, which helps quickly improve their operating efficiency.

IT mobility allows people to shift from offline office to online office.

IT consumerization allows enterprise employees to bring their own intelligent mobile terminals to the workplace.

IT virtualization enables more and more applications to move to the cloud.

How to Plan a BYOD Solution

Enterprises need a mobile office solution that can help improve their operating efficiency, maximize their return on investment (ROI), but require simple and convenient operation and maintenance(O&M).

The success of a BYOD solution depends on how much work employees can do on their mobile devices. A successful BYOD solution delivers superb user experience, and at the same time helps reduce enterprises' operating costs and improve their operating efficiency.

Mobile applications must be compatible with the existing information and communications technology (ICT) system to ensure functional services and smooth service migration during live network optimization.

Planning a future-proof solution allows more potential for the development of intelligent enterprise networks in the future. All these together help maximize enterprise ROI.

Innovate, do not replicate (E2E planning).

Consider the equity of benefits for the enterprise, customer, and employee alike when planning

(three-win).

Employ a unified technology architecture to simplify development and accommodate scalability.

Adopt the Mobile UI design that features simplicity and ease-of-use to improve user perception.

Assess the current situations and ascertain future directions.

Identify mobile application roles and scenarios.

Find which functions can use mobile applications.

Identify and prioritize mobile application requirements.

Consider security as a top priority and implement E2E security

approaches.

Control the scope of the IT infrastructure upgrade as well as the

duration of the implementation period.

Choose a mobile office model based on the actual conditions of

an enterprise.

Deployment of a unified policy at company level. An E2E security mechanism that covers network infrastructure, terminals, and applications is necessary to ensure secure enterprise network and resource access in mobile office.

Huawei offers the following steps to plan a BYOD solution based on Huawei's practical experience:

Rich experience in BYOD practice

Why Huawei BYOD

Huawei Enterprise ICT Solutions A Better Way

Service globalization and customer-centric ideas have posed three major challenges for Huawei's office work: 90% of executives need to have business trips frequently and attend many meetings; 70% of salespersons need to visit customers frequently; and 80% of service personnel need to work outdoors.

Facing these challenges, Huawei started to plan and implement its own mobile office.

Coordination across different technological fields is required to ensure an optimal BYOD solution. Huawei offers a wide array of BYOD products (covering network, security, UC&C, IT, wireless, and terminal products) and based on its deep insights into ICT development, is able to provide E2E BYOD solutions according to varied BYOD strategies of different enterprises.

Huawei provide open BYOD infrastructure, which can help customer transfer from existing application to mobile platform through their partner. It will be quickly deployment in transaction.

Protect customer investment and reduce risk: easy for customer to transfer current application into

mobile platform, quick movement in mobility.

Open infrastructure, unified policy management: Provide eSDK package, value in partner integration.

Huawei is a leading global ICT solutions provider. With customer-centric ideas, we provide products and solutions over 140 countries, serving more than one third of the world's population.
