Sage Grant Management System Requirements

You should meet or exceed the following system requirements:

One Server - Database/Web Server

The following system requirements are for Sage Grant Management to be installed on one database/web server.

IMPORTANT: The Sage Grant Management database does not need to be installed on the same server as the Sage Fund Accounting or Fundraising 50 database. As long as all databases are on the same network, the integration components will be enabled. 

NOTE: This scenario accommodates all components of the Sage Grant Management installation on one server (IIS/Database/Reporting).

Database/Web Server Hardware Requirements

Processor (CPU)* Pentium III processor or faster. 2.0 GHz or faster Note: Itanium processor not supported.

Framework Microsoft .NET Framework 4.0 or higher

Memory (RAM) 4 GB minimum.

Two Servers - Database Server

The following system requirements are applicable when Sage Grant Management is installed on two servers. These requirements are specific for the database server portion of the installation.

Note: In this scenario, the database and reporting instances would be installed and accessible from the same server.

Two Servers - Web Server

The following system requirements are applicable when Sage Grant Management is installed on two servers. These requirements are specific for the web server portion of the installation.

Note: It is strongly advised that Primary or Backup Domain Controller and/or Mail servers not be installed on the same IIS as Sage Grant Management.

Browser - Client

The following system requirements are applicable for anyone accessing Sage Grant Management from their web browser and when the product is hosted from their own internal server(s).

You should meet or exceed the following system requirements when using Sage Virtual Services:

You should meet or exceed the following system requirements when choosing to host your Sage Grant Management application with Sage Virtual Services fully managed hosting.

Note: Please check Microsoft system requirements for browser and operating system compatibility.

Note: Silverlight 4 will prompt you to install upon opening the application through your browser for the first time.

Workstation Requirements

Bandwidth/Speed 56 kbps per concurrent user or higher

Note: Connection speed and bandwidth capacity play a critical role in your successful access to Sage Virtual Services. Check with your IT staff and internet service provider to verify your connection speeds and capacity.

Framework Silverlight 4

Note: Silverlight 4 will prompt you to install upon opening the application through your browser for the first time.

Before You Begin

For optimum results, perform the following “housekeeping” tasks before running the installation program:

1. If installing SQL Server 2008 R2 or SQL Server 2008 R2 Express Edition with Advanced Services, be sure to install the Reporting Services.

– Check any existing instances of SQL Server 2008 R2 Standard Edition to ensure proper functionality before installing Grant Management.

– Start the SQL Server Browser and Reporting Services and consider setting the Start Mode to Automatic.

– If the Windows Firewall is turned on, you must configure exceptions in the Firewall for SQL Server or the client computer(s) will not be able to connect.

Note: Windows Firewall is turned on by default with Windows Server 2008 R2.

2. If needing to install the Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 Express Edition with Advanced Services, visit the Microsoft website at http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/

details.aspx?familyid=E08766CE‐FC9D‐448F‐9E98‐FE84AD61F135&displaylang=en. Select x86 or x64 and click Download to begin the installation. Be sure to install Reporting Services.

3. After the SQL Server is installed, verify that the Microsoft .NET Framework of 4.0 Full or higher and Internet Information Services (IIS) 7.5 or higher are installed on the web server.

Installing these requirements later will require the server to be restarted.

4. For emailing to work in the system, Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP) needs to be set up and configured in Internet Information Services (IIS).

5. The user logged on to the server machine must be a member of the Local Administrators group.

6. Close any open windows.

After performing these steps, you are ready to run the Installation program. Choose to complete either the Single Server Installation (see Chapter 2) or Dual Server Installation (see Chapter 3)
