Email Client configuration and migration Guide Setting up Thunderbird 3.1

1. Open Mozilla Thunderbird. :

1. On the Edit menu, click Account Settings.

2. On the Account Settings page, under Account Actions, click Add Mail Account.

2. In the Mail Account Setup dialog box, enter the following account information:

1. Your Name – enter your name as you would like to appear on outgoing mail messages

2. Email Address - enter your e-mail address e.g. [email protected] 3. Password - enter your password and click Continue.

3. Now enter the following

1. Username – e.g. vgoth00

If your username and Alias are different then you may need to enter

Domain\username\alias

e.g. Lec_admin\vgoth00\vgoth

2. Incoming - luna.dmu.ac.uk, IMAP, 993, SSL/TLS 3. Outgoing - mail.dmu.ac.uk, SMTP, 25, None

4. Click Manual setup to complete the setup

1. Select server setting and change the authentication method to normal password and click ok.

Note. If a security exception pops up then view the certificate and verify the below making sure selecting permanently store this exception is selected before clicking on confirm security exception.

2. Now copy messages from the FOT Mailbox to the ISAS Mailbox.

Configuring your email client: Outlook 2007 - IMAP

1. Open Outlook 2007.

2. Click the Tools menu, and select Account Settings.

3. Click on the Email tab and click on the New... button.

4. Next select Microsoft Exchange, POP3, IMAP or HTTP and click Next.

5. On the Auto Account Setup window check the manually configure server settings or additional server types and click Next.

6. For IMAP Select Internet E-mail option and click next.

7. Fill in the following fields:

8. Enter Your Name as you want it to appear.

9. Enter your full email address e.g. [email protected] 10. Select IMAP for Account Type

11. Enter luna.dmu.ac.uk in the Incoming mail (IMAP) server field.

12. Enter mail.dmu.ac.uk in the Outgoing mail (SMTP) server field.

13. Enter your username in the User name field. e.g. vgoth00

If your username and Alias are different then you may need to enter

Domain\username\alias

e.g. Lec_admin\vgoth00\vgoth

14. Enter your email password in the Password field.

15. Click on More Settings then select the advanced tab and select SSL for Use the following type of encrypted connection to, then click ok.

16. Click the Test Account button and you should see all items with green check marks... Click the Close Button to close the test window.

Note. If you get an Internet security warning saying the server you are connecting to is using a security certificate that cannot be verified, verify the certificate is the correct one and click yes.

3. Now copy messages from the FOT Mailbox to the ISAS Mailbox.

Configuring your email client: Outlook 2007 – Exchange

1. Open Mail through control panel 2. Select Email Accounts

3. Click on the Email tab and click on the New... button.

4. Next select Microsoft Exchange, POP3, IMAP or HTTP and click next.

5. On the Auto Account Setup window check the manually configure server settings or additional server types and click Next.

6. Select Microsoft Exchange option and click next.

7. Enter Luna.dmu.ac.uk for Microsoft Exchange Server

8. Enter your username in the User name field and click Check name

9. You will now be prompted for your username and password, in the username field you will need to put lec_admin\your username

10. Click Ok then Finish

11. Now open outlook and copy messages from the FOT Mailbox to the ISAS Mailbox.

Configuring your email client: Evolution 2.26 – IMAP

1. Open Evolution

2. Go to Edit then Preferences 3. Click Add

4. on the welcome screen click Forward 5. enter the following information

Full Name – enter your name as you would like to appear on outgoing mail messages

Email Address - enter your e-mail address e.g. [email protected]

6. Click Forward

7. Choose IMAP for Server type then enter the following

Server: luna.dmu.ac.uk

Username: Enter your username e.g. vgoth00

If your username and Alias are different then enter

Domain\username\alias

e.g. Lec_admin\vgoth00\vgoth

Select SSL Encryption for User Secure Connection

8. click Forward 9. click Forward

10. For Sending E-mail option enter the following

Server: mail.dmu.ac.ukmail

11. click Forward

12. under Account Management make required changes before clicking Forward

13. Click Apply

14. Enter your password if prompted

Note. If a Warning pops up in relation to SSL certificate verify the below before clicking ok to accept the certificate.

15. Now we need to set-up the GAL lookup so go to Edit then Preferences 16. Select the new created profile and click Edit

17. Go to receiving option and enter the following information before clicking ok

Global Catalogue Server Name: janey.lec-admin.dmu.ac.uk

18. Now copy messages from the FOT Mailbox to the ISAS Mailbox.

Configuring your email client: Evolution 2.26 – Exchange

1. Open Evolution 2. Click Add

3. on the welcome screen click Forward 4. enter the following information

Full Name – enter your name as you would like to appear on outgoing mail messages

Email Address - enter your e-mail address e.g. [email protected] Password - enter your DMU account password and click Continue.

5. Click Forward

6. Choose Microsoft Exchange for Server type then enter the following

Username: Enter your username e.g. vgoth00 OWA Url: webmail.dmu.ac.uk

Authentication type secure password

Click authenticate and type you password before clicking ok

7. click Forward

8. in receiving option type janey.lec-admin.dmu.ac.uk in the global catalogue server name

9. click Forward 10. Click Apply

Note. If a Warning pops up in relation to SSL certificate verify the below before clicking ok to accept the certificate.

11. Now we need to set-up the GAL lookup so go to Edit then Preferences 12. Select the new created profile and click Edit

13. Go to receiving option and enter the following information before clicking ok

Configuring your email client: Entourage 2008 - IMAP

1. Open Entourage.

2. Click Entourage and select Account Settings.

3. Click on New and Select Mail

4. Select IMAP from Account Type and click ok

Fill the following information in Edit Account

Account Name: enter a name for the mailbox e.g. Van Goth (Work)

Name: enter your name as you would like to appear on outgoing mail messages

E-Mail address: enter your e-mail address e.g. [email protected] Account ID: Enter your username e.g. vgoth00

If your username and Alias are different then you may need to enter

Domain\username\alias

e.g. Lec_admin\vgoth00\vgoth

IMAP Server: Luna.dmu.ac.uk Password:

SMTP Server: Mail.dmu.ac.uk

Click on the advanced tab; fill in the information below for public folders and GAL lookup.

Public folders Server: pendragon.lec-admin.dmu.ac.uk LDAP Server: janey.lec-admin.dmu.ac.uk

5. Click on the advanced tab; fill in the information below for public folders and GAL lookup.

Public folders Server: pendragon.lec-admin.dmu.ac.uk

LDAP Server: janey.lec-admin.dmu.ac.uk

6. Click Ok

7. Login then copy messages from the FOT Mailbox to the ISAS Mailbox.

Configuring your email client: Entourage 2008 - Exchange

1. Open Entourage.

2. Click Entourage and select Account Settings.

3. Click on New and Select Mail

4. Select Exchange from Account Type and click ok

Fill the following information in Edit Account

Account Name: enter a name for the mailbox e.g. Van Goth (Work)

Name: enter your name as you would like to appear on outgoing mail messages

E-Mail address: enter your e-mail address e.g. [email protected] Account ID: Enter your username e.g. vgoth00

Domain: Lec-admin.dmu.ac.uk Password:

Exchange Server: Luna.dmu.ac.uk

5. Click on the advanced tab; fill in the information below for public folders and GAL lookup.

Public folders Server: pendragon.lec-admin.dmu.ac.uk LDAP Server: janey.lec-admin.dmu.ac.uk

6. Click Ok

7. Login then copy messages from the FOT Mailbox to the ISAS Mailbox.

Configuring your email client: IMAP – Outside DMU

If you are configuring your email client for IMAP on a computer outside DMU (eg at home) you need to follow the instructions as above except for the SMTP server. This needs to be set to your ISP’s SMTP server, not mail.dmu.ac.uk. You should be able to find the correct setting from your mail.cse.dmu.ac.uk account.
