AUTO BODY COLLISION REPAIR

This program is designed to prepare a student for an entry-level position as an auto body and collision repair technician, and serve as a review session. Upon successful completion of the program, the student will take the ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) Painting and Refinishing certification test in Spring 2013. WELDING & FABRICATION

This program includes a study of technical knowledge and practical experience needed by those who plan to make welding a career. Our hands-on experience includes: thermo-cutting, SMAW, GTAW, GMAW, and applications of pipe welding. The students learn to weld and fabricate using various metals: brass, copper and cast iron.

The program is made up of the following topics:

All successful students will receive a 3G-4G Combination Certification.

In this class, the student will learn the various concepts of circuits utilizing “bread boards” to create circuits using 120 and 240 single-phase power. MARINE SKILLS MECHANIC

256 hours

This program is designed to enable trainees to master competencies necessary to work in the Marine trades industry in less than six months. A Marine Maintenance Mechanic performs preventative maintenance, troubleshoots and repairs mechanical, electrical and instrumentation of motor systems. This training will also cover

techniques of boat handling, safety, skills for water transportation, skills for marine engine repair.

All students will receive a basic tool kit for use during the course. The basic tool kit will become the student’s property upon the successful completion of the course.

Heartsaver CPR $55 This course is for anyone who acts as a rescuer as part of his or her job responsibility.

Adult, Child & Infant CPR and Choking, and the use of Barrier Devices are covered for rescue of family, co-workers or the general public. Fee includes textbook & CPR card. There is a shorter course for learning Adult only CPR procedures for a fee of $50.00 including textbook & card.

Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers $75 This course is for healthcare professionals working in the healthcare industry.

This course covers Adult, Child & Infant CPR & Choking, Two-Rescuer CPR, Use of the AED, and Barrier Devices and Bag-Valve Mask. Fee includes textbook and CPR card.

CPR For Family & Friends $50 This 4-hour course will meet the needs for those learning CPR to protect family members & friends. How to call for help, Adult, Child & Infant CPR and Choking, and Stroke will be covered. Fee includes book.

Heartsaver AED CPR $75 This 4-hour course is for those who may participate in a program of Public Access Defibrillation. Only Adult CPR & Choking procedures, use of Barrier Devices and the use of the Automatic External Defibrillator is covered. There is a maximum of four participants per instructor. Certified Dietary Manager, Certified Food Protection Professional (CDM, CFPP) are nationally recognized experts at managing operations in healthcare settings: • nursing homes • hospitals • rehab facilities • schools • military • corporations

• senior living communities Dietary Managers are trained and qualified to manage menus, food purchasing and food preparation. Other responsibilities are patient care which includes documenting nutrition information, ensuring food safety, contact with patients, working with other professional team members including Registered Dietitians and Registered Dietetic Technician and managing a variety of staff members at any given facility.

Employment in the food service industry is not dependent on economic conditions. Food service still continues to grow at a very steady rate. Becoming a CDM, CFPP will ensure a positive job opportunity for years to come!

Ohio Department of Health Approved Nurse Aide Training Program. If you have a desire to help others, then attend Penta’s Nurse Aide program and become State Certified. This 77.5 hour program includes 59.5 hours of classroom instruction and 18 hours of clinical instruction.

Career possibilities include: hospitals, long term care, hospice, physicians office, assisted living, and more. Tuition does not include the $100 State Testing Fee. This fee is the responsibility of the student. Check for State Test is due 2 weeks before final test date.

All Nurse Aide (STNA) program candidates, regardless of previous education or degrees, must complete the ACT WorkKeys diagnostic examination. EKG TECHNICIAN

70 hours

This 70 hour program providing instruction in EKG unit operation and troubleshooting, lead placement utilizing 12 lead EKG, use and understanding of EKG grid paper, recognizing normal and abnormal EKG patterns in all 12 leads and plotting EKG axis.

PHLEBOTOMY TECHNICIAN

88 hours

Phleotomy Technician is an 88 hour program. As a Phleotomy Technician the laboratory relies on you to collect quality samples from the patient to produce quality laboratory results. To do this, a phlebotomy technician must create an atmosphere of trust and confidence with patients while drawing blood specimens in a skillful, safe and reliable manner. This 88 hour program is intended for those who have no experience and want to become employed as a Phlebotomy Technician in a clinical laboratory or public health department setting. Students work in teams practicing on one another. The program includes 48 hours of Classroom training and a 40 hour externship to provide you with a complete learning experience.

Enrollment Requirements: Minimum 18 years of age and high school completion or its equivalent. Students need competency in, or completion of a basic computer operations program. Students will be required to have access to the Internet, printing capabilities and an email address. There will be an

English pre-assessment test admin-istered on the first class meeting to assure student success. Prior to placement in an externship, students will need to show proof of completion of CPR for the Healthcare Provider program, a health examination including TB testing and submission of a resume.

Tuition: $1699, includes books, program supplies, externship, and a program certificate of completion. Additional Costs: Upon successful completion of the program graduates will receive a certificate. • Veteran’s Educational Benefits: Selected training programs are approved for training Veterans. Apply on line at www.gibill.va.gov. • Workforce Development: The Workforce Investment Act provides

GENERAL EQUIVALENCY DIPLOMA (GED)

Penta Adult & Continuing Education provides the opportunity for all students lacking a high school diploma to successfully complete their GED prior to admission into our Full-Time programs at Penta Career Center.

GRADUATION RATE

The graduation rate for Penta Career Center Adult Education for all Title IV programs of 600 or more hours for students enrolling after July 2011 and completing by June 30, 2012, is 83 percent.

LIABILITY AND CAMPUS SECURITY

Penta Career Center is not responsible for theft of personal property or personal injuries occurring on campus. Students are responsible for all monetary losses resulting from theft or injuries and should have their own personal insurance policy. Penta is not responsible for any losses or injuries that may occur while working on projects, cars, etc. In case of an emergency, Emergency Service, 911, will be called and will take charge of the emergency situation upon their arrival.

PROGRAM CANCELLATIONS

The Adult and Continuing Education administration reserves the right to cancel any classes due to insufficient enrollment throughout the duration of the course. For this reason, please register early to reserve a place in the program of your choice.

WITHDRAWALS AND REFUNDS

(Full-Time Programs) Students who withdraw from Job Training programs (for any reason) will receive tuition refunds on the following basis:

Full-Time students wishing to withdraw from classes should do so before the end of the first week of class. Please refer to the table above. A $30.00 administrative fee is non-refundable.

A part-time student will receive a refund only if they cancel or withdraw a week prior to the start of class. NO REFUND will be issued after that time.

WORKKEYS ASSESSMENT/ PRE-ENTRANCE EXAM

Penta Career Center requires students to complete the WorkKeys entrance exam for all full-time programs and select other programs. WorkKeys requirements are listed in program descriptions.
