Impacted Groups
• Allow staff to work more effectively from anywhere while keeping VUMC content secure.
• Standardize individual user file storage using OneDrive for
Business for VUMC.
• VUMC IT will coordinate and move all individual user files (from home drives and network drives) to OneDrive for Business with minimal disruption to workforce members.
• Find information on impacted files here.
• This effort will be deployed by
active directory organizational units.
Workforce members receive: • A cycle of four
communications beginning
two weeks prior to expected migration date, and one communication upon completion.
• Support to guide them through the process in the form of; a website, virtual training sessions, and Microsoft resources.
• Pilots are underway. • Final departmental
migration is expected to
begin June/July 2021 and will run through the end of this
calendar year.
• This effort will be implemented
alongside the Microsoft Multi Factor Authentication (MFA).
• See the Roll Out Schedule.
• This is focused on all users
who have an individual folder in the department share.
( e.g.,
K:\ drive
mapped on your computer in a department share)
• Our next phase, after we complete the 2021 migration, will be persons who have a
HOME folder also known commonly as the V:\ drive.

What about Box?
At this time, VUMC remains
committed to Box
as an
enterprise collaboration
platform.
Through our ExpeditionTech
program efforts we will be
systematically moving
content to Microsoft's
cloud services
, however we
have no near-term plans for
a managed migration to
those services from Box.

• Implement Microsoft MFA tool to secure access to data on Microsoft 365 Applications such as OneDrive for Business, Teams and Outlook Email.
After initial communication: • Workforce members have two
weeks to enroll voluntarily. • At the end of two weeks,
workforce members will be auto-enrolled/forced to enroll. Enrollment is quick and intuitive for most. Documentation and support plan are available, and pilots are ongoing.
• This effort will be implemented by department alongside the OneDrive File Migration Effort.

VUMC has a responsibility to protect our data and multi-factor authentication (MFA), two-factor
authentication, is now a necessity. We will continue to use the MobilePASS+ solution you are used to
until we fully implement the new Microsoft MFA solution across all VUMC resources.
