1.Green Team Ready Play
Below is a list of some ready play guidelines. We have more detailed suggestions in print form for anyone who would like them. We can send them to you as a PDF or give you a hard copy on Green Team Saturdays.
Please be aware of the group in front of you. If you are not within one shot of the group in front of you, you are lagging and slowing down the pace of play.
• Arrive at least 20 minutes before your tee time. • As your tee time nears -
➢ Make sure you have everything you need such as hat, water, scorecard, pencil, and extra balls.
➢ Proceed directly to the #1 or #10 tee as soon as your name is called ─ but not before.
➢ Be ready when it is your turn to tee off.
➢ Ladies First Please - Most men play from the white tees while the women hit from the red tees. While waiting for the fairway to clear, it is a good idea for the women in the group to tee off first using the red tees because lady golfers often do not drive the ball as far as the guys. This saves time. Another option is for all players in the foursome to tee off at the red tees...a time saver.
➢ 300 Yard Drives - Most Green Teamers cannot reach a green that is 300+ yards away in one stroke. This means you do not have to wait until the green clears before you tee off. Wait until the players ahead of you are safely out of your range and then tee off.
➢ Once everyone has putted out, clear the green. Do not visit, do not fill in the score card, do not rearrange your golf bag. All of that can be done at the next hole.
➢ Be ready when it is your turn.
➢ Never try to retrieve an errant ball from the driving range. It is dangerous to do so.
- Limit your search to 2 minutes
-Take your shot before helping someone search for their lost ball. This applies to both land and sea. When there are water traps, do not spend extra time looking for balls that have gone into the water. There will be golfers behind you waiting to play.
• On the fairway after 5 strokes, pick up the ball and carry it to the green. • The place to practice is on the driving range.
• The #1 Ready Play rule is -
Please be aware of the group in front of you. If you are not within one shot of the group in front of you, you are lagging and slowing down the pace of
play.

2. How to reserve a Green Team Tee Time:
1) An email titled “Green Team – Tee Time Sign-Ups for (date)” will be emailed to all members on Friday’s hopefully between 3:00 and 5:00 p.m. As soon as you receive the email, you will be able to open the link at the bottom of the email and begin signing up. For Example: The email will be sent on Friday June 11th to sign-up for tee times on Saturday
June 26th (2 weeks and one day prior to the day of play).
2) You only email [email protected] if we need to trouble shoot for you or if you have made an error when signing up that we will correct after the link closes.
3) You do not email Green Team to cancel (see “7)” below).
4) The deadline for being able to go into this system each week will be noon the following Friday or sooner if all slots fill up prior to Friday. For Example, the deadline for signing-up for June 26th will be noon on Friday June 18th or sooner if all slots fill up.
5) You will receive a confirming email from Data Entry/Golf Ops the weekend prior to the Saturday of play after Green Team submits our tee times to Data Entry/Golf Ops.
6) If tee times need to be changed after the link closes and prior to submittal to Data Entry due to blank tee times or combining twosomes, etc., your updated tee time will be communicated to you with a confirming email from Data Entry/Golf Ops.
7) The week prior to play, from Sunday until the day of play, you will call the golf course of play to cancel, etc. Do not call any other golf course, only the course Green Team is playing at the following Saturday. There is no need to email the Green Team.
Email [email protected] if troubleshooting needs to be done.
3. Check Your Tee Time
Actual tee times can change from what you initially requested. If there are gaps in tee times, Golf Operations will not let tee times go idle. Instead tee times will be moved up wherever there are gaps. To avoid being caught off guard, please check your tee time with the
most
current confirming email you have received from Data Entry. You can also call the
course of play the day before. (Refer to the following #4.)
4. Golf Course Phone Numbers & Addresses
• Stardust at 623-544-6012 ➢ 12702 Stardust Blvd. • Desert Trails at 623-544-6017 ➢ 22525 N. Executive Way • Echo Mesa at 623-544-6014 ➢ 20349 Echo Mesa Dr.
If your golf ball goes out of bounds into someone's yard, do not trespass and go into the yard to retrieve your ball.
The golf course does not own the yards of homes on the golf course. Those yards are private property. The fee you pay the starter to play golf gives you the right to be on the golf course. It does not give you the right to go into someone's yard. Those yards are private property.
There are white stakes marking the golf course boundary lines separating the golf course and private property. Under no circumstance should you hit your ball while it is in someone's yard.
6. Sand Bunker Etiquette
If your ball lands in a sand bunker, it is up to you to decide to try to hit out of the sand or you can use your “throwing wedge” – especially if you have tried to hit it out and failed.
7. Printed Handouts Available
There are numerous printed handouts available to all golfers. Please contact the Green Team at [email protected] if you are looking for specific information, go to the kiosks at each golf course, or go to the suncitywest.com website.
8. Green Team Contact List
Most Green Teamers would prefer to golf with players who have Green Team attitudes and golf skills. We have provided a way for Green Teamers to contact one another so they can play together during the week. The Contact List is in a pocket folder labeled “Green Team Contact List”. It is on the Green Team shelf at Stardust Golf Course near the windows to the left of the door as you enter the pro shop. You can place your name and contact info on the list if you would like other Green Team members to contact you. Be sure to cross your name and info off if you no longer want to be on the list or will be gone during the year.
From this list, individuals can contact one another to make tee times together, decide playing atmosphere, and whether to play 9- or 18-holes. We encourage everyone to continue to practice ready play and pay attention to standard etiquette practices toward others on the course. We want Green Team to have a positive reputation in the community.
If Stardust Golf Course is closed for maintenance, Spring Aerification, or Fall Overseeding, please email [email protected] to be placed on the Contact List or to obtain location of Contact List.
9. 15-Inch Holes
Once or twice a year the Green Team plays with 15-inch holes on all 18 greens. There will also be the regulation 4.5 holes in addition to the 15-inch hole so use whichever hole you wish.
This has the potential to be the most fun you have had on a golf course!!! Enjoy these larger holes twice a year because they will not be there permanently.
HOLE-IN-ONE ON 15-INCH HOLE:
One word of caution, if a Green Team member gets a hole in one using the 15-inch holes, it cannot be recognized in the usual way since the hole in one program is a PGA program which only recognizes the 4.5-inch regulation holes. If you do get a hole in one in the 4.5-inch regulation hole, document it at the club house and bask in community wide recognition.
If you do get a hole in one with one of the 15-inch holes, please report it to Jerry & Kathy so they can at least give you Green Team recognition. Please send an email to
[email protected] and tell us which hole(s), club used, yardage, and the course.
• 15-inch holes have been introduced by several golf courses across the nation. The purpose of these larger holes is to speed up play and make it more enjoyable to people who are not scratch golfers (that means good golfers). The concept has been gaining momentum throughout the country.
10. Dress Code

11. Golf Cart Etiquette
Send an email to [email protected] to obtain a copy of the one page updated “Green Team Golf Cart Etiquette” information sheet (updated 11-11-19).
12. Twilight Rates
Twilight golf rates do not apply to any golfing group in Sun City West including the Green Team. If you wish to play using the Twilight golf rates, make an individual tee time outside of the Green Team.
As a group, the Green Team gets special privileges. The group’s individuals can sign up for tee times up to two weeks in advance. The Green Team can block off as many tee times as we can fill. In the winter, that means we have 90 to 100+ tee times reserved for us on any given Saturday.
In addition, the Green Team does not charge any dues or fees for membership like the usual golf leagues. Plus, members can take part in the free clinics offered by Mentors and our In-House PGA Pros through the Green Team, and the golf courses provide unlimited range balls for these clinics at no charge. The only thing you pay for with the Green Team are your green fees. We appreciate these Green Team privileges since they are crucial to managing the group and their tee times on a weekly basis.

17.Green Team’s Saturday’s Arrival Time
ARRIVE 30 MINUTES PRIOR TO YOUR TEE TIME!!!!
Tee times FREQUENTLY CHANGE at the last minute, such as last-minute cancellations.
When they do Green Team will combine and “bump up” other tee times if necessary.
If one person in a threesome cancels, it becomes a twosome. We may combine that twosome with another twosome! This will push ALL tee times after that up at least one tee time.
If everyone in a tee time cancels, this will push ALL tee times after that up at least one tee time.
If everyone but one person in a tee time cancels, it becomes an individual. We will combine that individual with a twosome or a threesome! This will push ALL tee times after that up at least one tee time.
HOW WILL YOU KNOW IF YOUR TEE TIME HAS BEEN PUSHED UP AT THE LAST
MINUTE DUE TO LAST-MINUTE CANCELLATIONS?
ARRIVE 30 MINUTES PRIOR TO YOUR TEE TIME!!!!
It is imperative that every Green Teamer arrive 30 minutes prior to their tee time! Upon
arrival a Green Teamer needs to: 1) Check in at the Green Team table; 2) Find out if their tee time has been pushed up or if their foursome has changed; 3) Check in and pay the golf course.
