Important: Some courses have special registration requirements or prerequisites. Check course information for details prior to beginning the registration process.

You must be at least 18 or older to register for Continuing Ed classes. If you are 16 or 17 and still in high school, you may enroll with written permission from your principal.

Register in Person

You may register and pay course fees Monday-Thursday, 9 a.m.-7 p.m. at the Continuing Education Center, 701 W. Front St., Statesville, 704-878-3220 or the Mooresville Campus, 219 N. Academy St., Mooresville, 704-663-1923

Register by Mail

Mail the completed Continuing Ed Registration Form at least 10 business days prior to the course beginning date with check or money order payable to: Continuing Education Registration, Mitchell Community College, 701 W. Front Street, Statesville, NC 28677-5644

Register by Fax

Fax the completed Continuing Ed Registration Form to 704-878-4271.

Paying for Courses

Full payment is required at the time of registration. Registration fees are established by the North Carolina State Board of Community Colleges and are subject to change. These fees vary according to instructional time, course content and equipment requirements.

The charges for self-supporting classes are based on the cost of course delivery.

Payment Options

Mitchell Community College accepts cash, checks, money orders and credit cards.

Pay by credit card via telephone. Call 704-878-3290 and provide your credit card number to complete your course registration, Monday-Thursday, 9 a.m.-7 p.m.

Third Party Billing

Some students have their Continuing Ed registration fees and supply costs paid by their employer or another third party. If a company is to be billed for a student’s registration, books and/or fees, a letter requesting this billing is required at the time of registration. The request, on company letterhead, should list the name of the student and his/her address and include the name and address of the person to receive the invoice.

Cancellation and Refund Policy

The College reserves the right to cancel a class due to lack of enrollment. In this case, preregistered/prepaid students will be issued a full refund.

Preregistered/prepaid students who officially withdraw from a course prior to its beginning will be issued a full refund.

Participants who officially withdraw from a course prior to the 10 percent point will be issued a 75 percent refund.

Participants who withdraw from a course after the 10 percent point are ineligible for a refund.

Course Repetition Policy

A student enrolling in the same Continuing Ed occupational course more than twice within a five-year period will pay the full student cost per scheduled hour or the current state fee, whichever is higher. This provision is waived if course repetition is required by certification or licensing standards pertaining to the course in which the student is enrolled. Rescue personnel may repeat courses, which are required by certification or licensing provisions and are directly job-related.

Books

Continuing Ed textbooks are available at the bookstore and are generally available two weeks prior to the first day of class. Textbooks for the Mooresville Center classes are sold on-site. Some textbooks may be ordered online. Call 704-878-3220 or visit www.mitchellcc.edu/ bookstore/ for more information.

Location

The Bookstore is located in the Montgomery Student Union, 500 W. Broad St., Statesville, NC 28677-5264, Phone 878-3275, Fax 704-878-4294. Regular store hours are Monday through Thursday 8:30 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. and Friday 8:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.

Payment Information

ƒ For checks, credit cards, or if requesting a refund, students or par-ents must present an official photo ID.

ƒ If paying with a credit card, the cardholder must be present.

ƒ Financial aid, sponsored, and third-party students must provide a photo ID.

ƒ Bring a copy of your registration form.

Refund Policy and Procedures

ƒ Books can only be returned within the first five days of the class start date with a valid Mitchell cash register receipt.

ƒ Books cannot be returned if the shrink-wrap has been removed or opened.

ƒ Books purchased after the return period can be returned for full or partial credit within 48 hours with a valid receipt.

ƒ Refund checks are issued by Financial Services within four to six weeks.
