SQUADRON 295 PHASE I COMPLETION REQUIREMENT

PROMOTION TO STAFF SERGEANT

REQUIREMENT 1

THE WRIGHT BROTHERS AWARD

Four Requirements to Earn the Wright Brothers Award

You will complete a comprehensive closed- book examination covering material from the "Learn to Lead"

Leadership text. It is highly recommended that you review Chapters 1, 2 and 3 before attempting the

examination! As your examinations have been completed entirely online and open- book to this point, you may

request to take a practice test to become familiar with the format. You will need to speak to the Squadrons

Testing Officer to either take the practice test or to schedule the Wright Brothers Examination. NOTE: your

Flight Commander will introduce you to the Testing Officer if you do not know who that person is.

REQUIREMENT 2

You must attempt and pass the Cadet Physical Fitness Test for your age and gender. See the "Cadet Super Chart"

for specific requirements. A Cadet will need to request a PT Waiver through the Deputy Commander for Cadets

if he or she can not complete the CPFT due to recent injury or ailment.

REQUIREMENT 3

You must have attended three Squadron, Group, Wing or Region activities or events since you first joined CAP.

These activities or events may include but are not limited to; orientation flights, BCOP, Encampment, social

functions, conferences, Emergency Services training activities, camping etc.

REQUIREMENT 4

During Achievement 2 (Hap Arnold), you were introduced to the CAP Form 50 "Cadet Evaluation Form" and were

shown how it is used to improve your Leadership Abilities. To complete all the requirements for the Wright

Brothers Award you will receive a formal CAP Form 50 from your Flight Commander and the Cadet Commander.

They will become part of your file and used to help track your development as a Non- Commissioned Officer.

You must request the CAP Form 50 from your Flight Commander once you have completed all other

requirements for the Wright Brothers Award.
