Introduction
1
Î In 1917 the magazine ‘De Stijl’ (the Style) was founded
by Theo van Doesburg in Leiden
Î Piet Mondrian, Bart van der Leck and Gerrit Rietveld
were part of this movement
Î De Stijl is one of the most influential art movements of
the 20th century
Î Franz Kaiser of the Gemeentemuseum Den Haag will
give an insight on this phenomenon in a few moments
Î The principles of the De Stijl group still inspire
Î contemporary designers such as Hella Jongerius,
Maarten Baas, Joris Laarman and Piet Hein Eek.
Î Hence the title Mondrian to Dutch Design
Î In 2017 all over Holland museums will celebrate De Stijl
