Informatics Association of Turkey (TBD) which brings people
working in the information technologies area in Turkey
together under one roof is the oldest informatics
professional body of the country with the highest number of
members.
Since its establishment on April 22, 1971, Informatics
Association of Turkey (TBD) has been working for public.
approved by the Council of Ministers on March 1994TBD
is the oldest and “the first non-governmental organization” of
the Country in Informatics Sector which is open for personal
membership. Since the February 25, 2000, TBD is the
member of Council of European Professional Informatics
Societies – CEPIS and the sole representative in turkey

THE MISSION OF TBD
x Making publications regularly open to public to disseminate the informatics culture,
x Taking the measures to promote the informatics / computer literacy and internet usage.
x Working-out for ensuring the Information Technology (IT) to be given priority when determining the national policies x Creating “Project Management Awareness” to ensure the realization of its IT projects successfully
x Strengthening and develop international relations in the field of informatics
x Publicizing and leading the effective use of IT, one of the most important tools in increasing the efficiency, to the all segments of society.
The first mission of the TBD which has taken the role of “Intellectual Leadership” within the informatics area is do something about all the problems of the sector including the problems of employees working in the informatics services,

From its establishment in 1971 until today, the Informatics Association of Turkey has carried out its activities with the principle of teamwork. TBD has carried some activities through the groups called as “commission”, “committee” “working group” etc. has brought something “new” and is continuing to do so.

Computer Literacy for Housewives: TBD aims the housewives never to be far from the information sector. Women with conscious, broad vision and strong communication skills will bring better individuals in the society. TBD meets its commitments and responsibilities in this field
Informatics Training for Physically Handicapped: TBD is taking on a task towards removing the barriers.
Organizing trainings for handicapped to enable them work without any physical effort with the help of technology in order to include to the life.
ECDL (European Computer Certificate of Competency: TBD has started the ECDL programs for promoting the informatics literacy in our Country. This program aims the people living in the European Community Countries having the computer literacy with the same standards. The certificate is valid in all European Countries.

e-signature Presentation Meetings: Informatics Association of Turkey organized conferences in 34 cities and reached to over 700 top and middle level managers and 4,500 participant to create awareness and inform the organizations about the implementation of e-signature i-Belde: By the internet technology, the products produced at the home
workshops in Yatagan, Buldan, Tavas and Yesilyuva towns of Denizli introduced to the world markets. The producers have a chance to promote their products over the web sites created on the computer in the internet cafes. With this rapidly disseminated practice everyone’s great effort and labor is utilized on the internet.

II. Informatics Magazine
Informatics Magazine, the first Turkish informatics and computer culture magazine, started its publication in 1972 and since its 112th issue (August 2009) it is being published monthly over the www.bilisimdergisi.org web address.

The E-mail service, a free electronic mail service which has been started in 2000 by the Informatics Association of Turkey is constituted the beginning of similar services of today with the increasing number of members.
