Performance Takes a Leading Role.
Peak Performance is Achieved Through a
Holistic Approach and Orientation Towards
the Future.
Advanced, practical elevator systems
are characterised by innovative
technologies and expertise. The
elevator controller is the most
important component in this respect:
Thyssocontrol Multican
®(TCM).
The guiding principle.
The development of our eleva-tor systems is based around a universal quality aspiration. Efficiency, safety, future-proof, comfort and reliability are important aspects of this aspi-ration. This is put into effect in the form of market-oriented, dynamic development process-es that combine all elevator components into perfectly matched and intelligent system solutions.
The system leads the way.
Thyssocontrol Multican® employs modern IT manage-ment in the shape of the CAN bus. Combined with the latest microprocessor technology and project-oriented software, the result is an optimum data flow. All based around a distributed system configuration. This type of configuration reduces the load on the controller processor and is a prerequisite for fast data communication.
It also brings advantages that in turn lead to results. Results, e.g. in respect of high availabil-ity, exemplary ride qualavailabil-ity, short travel and waiting times.
Safe options.
If required, the functionality of Thyssocontrol Multican®can be extended in a variety of cost effective ways. Monitoring allows the elevator to be visu-alised at any time. The system records and analyses all move-ments, identifies sources of faults and permits manual intervention.
Teleservice uses data commu-nication to monitor the elevator system round the clock. Faults are remedied automatically or forwarded to a Thyssen Service Center.
The TCM family. High-tech, even the low-cost version.
The TCM-MC1 and TCM-MC2 controllers are the high flyers in the Thyssocontrol Multican® family. TCM-MC1 is the high-quality controller with rack that provides all the flexibility you could require. This enables the controller to cover an extraordi-narily wide performance spec-trum that can be adapted to suit practically any requirement. The TCM-MC2 is a single-board controller with attractive cost advantages. It is based around a very good performance spec-trum with fixed boundaries. Two models that offer you all options in various versions.

Effective call processing. The diagram illustrates the operation of the direction-sensitive collective-selective controller type 6513.
What are the characteristics of the user group? What require-ments are there when an eleva-tor is used in public, business or private premises, are there any special circumstances? We answer these (and other) ques-tions with the right controller. In other words: various types of controller are available depend-ing on the required handldepend-ing capacity and the relevant traffic pattern requirements. The main criterion is the amount of infor-mation exchanged between the controller, elevator system and user.
The non-direction-sensitive single-button controller type 6511.
With this type of control sys-tem, the elevator is called using a single call button regardless of the direction of travel and landing. For less frequently used residential and office buildings.
The direction-sensitive single-button controller type 6512.
This control system determines the required direction of travel when the elevator is called. The incoming commands are col-lected upwards and downwards and processed downwards towards the main landing. For residential and office buildings with moderate usage.
The direction-sensitive col-lective-selective controller type 6513.
The direct input of the required direction of travel makes for very efficient processing of the commands. A controller for residential and office buildings that is capable of coping with a high handling capacity and traffic requirements.
The direction-sensitive single-button duplex collec-tive controller type 6522.
This duplex control system determines the required direc-tion of travel when the elevator is called. The incoming com-mands are processed upwards and downwards in blocks towards the main landing. The exchange of information between the two controllers ensures optimum and rapid processing of the travel com-mands. For residential and office buildings with normal usage.
The direction-sensitive duplex collective controller for multiple groups type 6526.
Thyssocontrol Multican® com-bines the individual controllers within the groups and super-vises the „teamwork“: each individual controller schedules each elevator in the group in the most effective way and constantly monitors the overall traffic pattern. It reacts imme-diately to any new situations.
Rational and individual: structure and
scope of the controller and traffic flows
according to specific requirements.
The high-end solution – DSC destination selection controller type 6528.
The DSC destination selection controller is a new kind of ele-vator group controller for office blocks. The destination landing is determined when the eleva-tor is called.
The high-end solution „Artificial Intelligence“.
Expanding the system with an AI computer increases the con-trollers learning capacity. The controller gathers important information from the traffic pattern, which it retains for later use. For example, it parks more elevators at popular landings at certain times.

Landing calls Up DownThe DSC destination selec-tion controller. 100 % more information results in greater efficiencies in elevator groups.
The Thyssen DSC destination selection controller is based on the TCM-MC1 Thyssocontrol Multican®controller. Its special feature: the exact destination landing (and direction of travel) is established when the call is made using ultra-modern touch screen terminals in the access area.
The controller therefore has all the information it requires; further inputs in the car are unnecessary. The DSC con-troller selects the most suitable elevator and transports the passenger directly to his desti-nation. Intermediate stops and empty car runs are reduced considerably, the handling capacity increases by up to 30 %. 6 5 4 3 2 1 6 5 6 6 5

with Our Various Drive Concepts.
The perfect interaction between
con-troller and drive makes for a smooth
ride, protects mechanical components
and means substantial energy savings.
Innovation in motion.
The Thyssocontrol Multican® and the frequency-controlled Thyssen Isostop 60 drives work together as a unit. The compo-nents that provide the ultimate in ride quality: each ride in the elevator takes account of the body’s capacity for sensing movement – the elevator accelerates and stops gently and changes in speed are barely noticeable.
Thyssocontrol Multican®and the Isostop 60 drive regulation system help reduce the running costs of your elevator system. The energy consumption of the entire system is reduced and its working life and availability increased.
Controller and drive in the Evolution®.
In our new range of Evo-lution®elevators, which require no machine room, the innovative Thyssen Mini gearless®drive con-cept and the controller are situated in the vicinity of the headroom and take up very little space. The service platform is inte-grated in the control cabi-net, where it can be easi-ly accessed for
Example of geared drives: The TW 160. Powerful and adaptable.
The TW 160 traction drive with Isostop 60 and Thyssocontrol Multican®
in the machine room is full of the latest technology. Mo-derate dimensions, highly efficient, excellent running properties and an extremely rugged design are the distinguishing features of the drive system.
Example of an hydraulic drive. The alternative when space is at a premium and travel heights are short.
Where short travel heights or building constraints demand space-saving solutions, the hydraulic drive with pump unit and silent immersible motor is the solution.
Example of gearless drives:
The Thyssen Compact Gearless®.
The smooth transition of medium to long travel heights.
This gearless drive with its very good running properties is destined for the higher performance cate-gories. The wide type range means there is a suitable machine for every performance category.
Isostop 60. As beneficial with geared drives as it is with gearless drives.
Isostop 60 can be employed irrespective of the type of drive. The parameters are transmitted to the Thyssocontrol Multican® through the CAN bus to achieve an optimum data flow. Thyssen Elevators always uses frequency-controlled technolo-gy with traction drive elevators.
Travel time curve of a frequency-controlled drive.
The figure demonstrates the homo-geneous ratio between travel speed (top) and input current (bottom).
The extremely smooth running nature of the motor also con-tributes significantly to the excellent ride quality. The rea-son behind this is the high clock frequency of the Isostop 60. In addition, using a fre-quency controller results in power savings of up to 40 % compared to conventional three-phase controllers. Includ-ing a reduced load on the mains and a low starting

Flexible software structures.
The modern Thyssocontrol Multican®controller responds in an extremely flexible manner to changes in external circum-stances. All building-specific parameters are stored during a teach-in run while the system is being installed. If the traffic or usage pattern should subse-quently change, the new situa-tion can easily be catered for by performing a new teach-in run or by changing parameters „in situ“.

Focus: Diagnostics.
Only the latest technology is used to provide professional trou-bleshooting services, preventive error detection and the complete configuring of our elevators.
For example, our Windows diagnostics program that runs on a Notebook. For comparison purposes the controller always saves the 100 most recent events.
Monitoring with Windows NT. Thyssen Monitoring uses the latest version of Windows NT. In addition to numerous other analysis options, the monitoring system dis-plays the calls and locations of the elevators in real time. All data and results can naturally be output to a printer.
Monitoring encompasses four performance categories.
Our monitoring system gives you the big picture of your ele-vator system. The four perfor-mance categories covered by the monitoring system are ele-vator monitoring, the control of elevator functions, the acquisi-tion and evaluaacquisi-tion of traffic flow information and the control of the indicator system, for instance flat screens.
Our monitoring system pro-vides meaningful information on the status of the elevator system and visualisation using Windows NT. All critical opera-tional statuses and operaopera-tional faults are displayed on screen in an easy to read format. In addition, elevator move-ments can be clearly displayed and the corresponding traffic levels accurately assessed. Operation of the system is very simple thanks to a clear menu structure.
