In 1978, Gene and Evelyn Coffman embarked on a daring and adventurous entrepreneurial voyage. As founders of Graftobian Ltd., they sought to produce and sell the finest novelty masquerade makeup in the world. Their product, Disguise Stix®, is now recognized as the leading face paint on the market. Although the face paint’s timelessly unique presentation, on a stick, may look funny, the Stix are just so easy, safe and fun for little hands to play with and experiment.

In 1995, Eric, their son, and his wife Susan took over the helm of Graftobian so that Gene and Evie could retire. Soon after, Graf-tobian grew by adding colored and glitter hair sprays. Then in 1997, Eric and Susan’s longtime friend, John Mazur, added his un-paralleled formulation skills when he partnered with Graftobian Ltd. to manufacture professional theatrical and beauty makeup. A revised, expanded, and invigorated Graftobian Make-Up Company was born!

As Graftobian grows and changes to of-fer a more diverse line of makeup, two things must remain the same: We will only offer top quality products, and we will always take great care of our custom-ers! Evie and Gene wouldn’t have had it any other way.

Brad Look is a top tier, Emmy Award®-winning, professional Hollywood makeup artist featured throughout this catalog. His specialty is airbrush makeup, both beauty and F/X, but within these pages he shares a wide variety of makeup tips. Brad played a key role in helping create the colors in our Glamour Creme and matching GlamAireTM_{Airbrush foundations. Today, Brad continues to be one our}

most valuable friends and consultants as we develop new F/X makeup.

Mary Erickson is a nationally respected print, editorial, and fashion makeup artist with over 20 years of experi-ence. Mary was instrumental in the development of Graftobian’s HD Glamour Crème Palettes, Lip Color Pal-ettes, Corrector Palette and our now famous Super Palettes (p. 11). She created the concept of offering our HD Pro Powders in kit friendly 37mm size pans for use in custom multi-well compacts, which all professional makeup artists need for their work. Mary’s understanding of today’s trends in professional makeup helps keep us on the cutting edge of pro cosmetic technology. Her latest contribution is her request that we create our new “Banana Cream Pie” HD Cashmere Setting Powder (p. 19).

Suzanne Patterson is an Emmy Award® winning makeup and special makeup effects artist who specializes in HD makeup application technology and technique. Her extensive knowledge and expertise in this medium led her to develop for Graftobian, the multiple award-winning makeup DVD “HD makeup 101: Achieving Perfection with Simplicity”. Suzanne had a fundamental influence in the development of our professional makeup products for HDTV. As an SFX artist who also specializes in Casualty Simulation for HDTV and the military trauma training environment she has brought new product innovations for our SFX line, including our popular F/X Blood Powder, Dirt Powders and the addition of Blood Modeling Wax. Suzanne also developed our new SFX video, “Special Makeup Effects for Casualty Simulation Arts” released June, 2013.

“I’ve been a fan of Graftobian HD Beauty products for quite a while now. The HD Glamour Crème and Powder Foundations have become staples in my kit, especially for male grooming because of their perfect level of coverage and natural look on camera.

I was at a trade show (I believe it was IMATS), standing at the Graf-tobian booth, chatting with Eric (Coffman). I questioned why they never progressed past the (very popular) original Color Correction Palette for light/medium skin-tones? Why hadn’t they expanded the collection to include a corrector palette for medium/dark skin-tones? I also questioned why they hadn’t addressed the growing trend for highlight/contour kits and created palettes to accommodate all global skin-tones? It would be a pretty easy project, because they already had an enormous library of HD Glamour Crème colors to choose from.

Eric looked at me, raised an eyebrow and said, “That’s a great idea, why don’t you help us design them?”

You don’t have to ask this cosmetics junkie twice. An invitation to play with makeup and create something new? I immediately grabbed all the display palettes on the counter and started swatching colors, taking notes and drawing sche-matics.

Thanks to my assertive (aggressive) questioning and the good nature of a very gracious company owner, Graftobian now offers two Color Correc-tor and two Highlight/Contour palettes for Light/Medium and Medium/Dark skin-tones. We also designed a “Global” master palette (pictured left) that contains 18 perfect shades to color correct, highlight and contour ANY skin-tone (which is my personal favorite).

Frequently in beauty or film work, an actor has color imperfections, blemishes, stains, tattoos, or other discolorations which require neutralizating or concealing. These two wheels are designed to include the most often used shades for neutralizing, highlighting, and concealing used by professionals. These two wheels employ our heavier, theatrical base and offer 10% more pigment than our HD crème correctors. Special thanks to Brad Look for his selection of these colors. Note: For the HD Glamour Crème version of the Light Correctors, see page 13, #30277.

There are many ways to go about covering a tattoo, and Graftobian offers several products to achieve this. In this example, Suzanne Patterson begins in Step 1 by neutralizing the dark blue color with orange.

You can use our HD Glamour Crème Foundations (p.9-13), Theatrical Creme Foundation (p.78-83), or Rubber Mask Grease (RMG, p.96) for this step (products listed in order of increasing pigmentation and opacity). It is important to neutralize using opposite color theory, and then to powder (HD setting powders p.19, theatrical setting powders p.89) after each step to set your work in place. You may also spray a light layer of Setting Spray (p.25) after powdering for additional durability. In Step 2, Suzanne follows with a very light shade of F/X Aire™ airbrush makeup (p.53) to finish “blanking out” the dark tattoo. It is not necessary to powder this layer.

Step 3 is a little more involved: The tattoo has been “covered” and neutralized, and now you need to bring back the natural look of the skin. Suzanne uses our RMG Derma wheel for this step due to it’s intense pigmentation and true-to-life skin shades. Since skin is never just one color, it is important to select or create shades that bring back the undertones, midtones and toptones using, again, either HD Glamour Creme Foundations, Theatrical Cremes or RMG, and setting your work with powder and setting spray after each layer.

“Many times when working on an actor, you might notice that a discoloration on their face will be a combination of colors. If this is the case, you can mix between the colors in the wheels. For example, if an actor has a gray blue under eye discoloration, I’ll use a mix of pink and orange to counteract the problem. Magic Set™ Mixing & Lining Liquid

You can turn your favorite Luster™ Powder colors (p. 28) into liquid makeup just by mixing it with Magic Set™. Also used with Cosmetic Powdered Metals (see Tips & Techniques on page 32), or as a lining liquid when mixed with our cake eyeliner as shown to the bottom left. Mix Magic Set™ with virtually any powdered makeup or pigment to create ultra-durable custom paint or lining shades. Available in a convenient 1/4 oz. size for creating custom eye-liners, the dropper-tipped bottle allows for more control and precision.

Magic Set™ Lining Tips

1. Activate Graftobian’s #30001 Jet Black (p.21) cake eyeliner with a few drops of Magic Set™ using a lining brush (#1 or #2 round recommended (p. 36). 2. Line the eye and allow to dry before opening eye.

3. Repeat steps 1 and 2 for the other eye.

4. The result is an in-tense and durable liquid eye liner.
