VDE is well known as a competent and reliable partner for testing and certification of electrical product safety. VDE approved products enjoy highest recognition worldwide and, therefore, ensure your entry into the global market.

Our Material Test Department is now offering the certification services for electrical insulating materials. for flammability (GWFI) and ignitability (GWIT) of materials used in household appliances according to IEC 60335 bzw. DIN EN 60335 (VDE 0700) and its components.

To give evidence of consistent product quality, annual factory surveillances will be conducted from the independent VDE Testing and Certification Institute in conjunction with material testing.

Recognition of GWFI- and GWIT test results as an

alternative to Glow-wire tests on finished products

According to DIN EN 60335-1 (VDE 0700-1), sub clause 30.2.2 und 30.2.3 for plastic materials GWFI- and GWIT tests are required.

The VDE Institute will not carry out a glow-wire test on the finished product under the following conditions: • presentation of a VDE approval on the required GWFI- und GWIT value for the relevant colours

and the preferential values of the plaques

• Confirmation from the component- / appliances manufacturer that the material is unchanged and is processed in accordance with the processing conditions including recycling material
