Palm Island Resort is located along the In-tracoastal Waterway on Florida’s southwest gulf coast. The resort encompasses a two-mile portion of private beach. The island is approximately seven miles long and 700-yards wide at its broadest point. Resort guests stay in privately owned tropical villas and travel to the resort by boat or car ferry. Villas on the mainland which overlook Palm Island Marina with access to dockage are also available at reduced rates from those located on Palm Island Resort’s beach.

The legacy continues as grown up adults return with memories of childhood when they first visited Palm Is-land with their parents and met Red Beard for the very first time. Guests of all ages continue to flock to Red Beard’s perform-ances as well as swashbuckling craft classes. Never-ending entertainment is enli-vened by stories and songs, laughter and adventure. Kids love his captivating imagi-nation and his live Amazon Parrot partner which rests on Red Beard’s shoulder.

Some visitors come to rest and relax with walks on our white sand beaches, reading a good book or lounging on the beach or poolside. Others may want to blend relaxation with action. Our recreation center, named Coconuts, of-fers recreational equipment; some for rent and others for purchase. When was the last time you flew a kite while running along a long stretch of white-sand beach? And our fitness room located within the Clubhouse features cardio-fitness equipment, aerobic classes, yoga classes and if you experience too much, too soon….then our massage therapist may be scheduled by appointment. Palm Island Resort has a long-standing commitment to preserving the natural envi-ronment, marine life and wildlife of this part of Florida. Guests are encouraged to visit the resort’s Nature Center and to learn of ongoing preservations projects. Visitors have the opportunity from May to October to participate in sea turtle awareness walks as hatchlings appear along our beaches. Manatee and dolphins can also be seen, along with native birds such as bald eagles, herons, osprey and pelicans. During the winter months shorebirds such as black skimmers and least terns call the resort home.

Palm Island Resort’s Naturalist, Al Squires conducts informative nature programs on the island for resort guests and residents including topics such as Manatee Aware-ness, Shore Birds, Sea Turtles and more. An alumnus of the University of Connecti-cut with a degree in Entomology, he is a volunteer specialist for the “Save the Mana-tee” club and volunteer trainer for the Ce-dar Point Environmental Park. Al also serves as a volunteer botanical consultant for My-akka State Forest and he is a past presi-dent of the Native Plant Society as well as a recipient of the Green Palmetto Award from the Florida Native Plant Society.

Rum Bay Restaurant is the real deal when seeking a tropical island-style restaurant for fun, libation and good family food. Servicing lunch and dinner with gourmet hamburgers , fresh local fish and a Swamp Sauce on its baby backs that others envy. Its full service bar inspires creativity with its tropical drinks , either full throttle or non-alcoholic for those not of age. Rum Bay is a place to relax, con-verse and simply have fun. Something is al-ways going on with specialty nights, enter-tainment, holiday menus and island influ-ences. Its sister café’, Coconuts offers morning gourmet bean coffees and break-fast pastries to those in need of wireless internet and can’t wait until mãnana.

Leverock’s Seafood Restaurant on the mainland has been a gulf coast dining delight since 1948. Leverock’s is a short water taxi ride from the resort and complimentary to Resort guests. Open for lunch and dinner, Leverock’s offers a range of freshly caught fish and seafood provided in a light and cas-ual atmosphere overlooking Palm Island Ma-rina. Outdoor dining is available under its shaded canopy or open to the sun from its patio. Leverock’s prides itself on keeping its fresh catch simple, yet varied in your choice of preparation while calling on the ports sur-rounding the Gulf of Mexico..

 After crossing US 41, continue approximately 7 miles to the traffic light at Pine Street
