WELCOME

If you are new to St. Anthony of Padua Parish, please know how welcome you are to worship God with us. The motto of our parish is written in Latin over the front entrance: “The hardworking people of St. Anthony have built this Temple to the Lord.” We know that we have been blessed with one of the most beautiful church most people have ever seen and that the Lord demands more of those who have been given more. Our goal is to is allow the Lord to build with us a parish community of “living Stones” even more beautiful than the physical edifice in which we have the awesome privilege to worship Him. We would love you to become part of that building project!

3 VICAR’S MESSAGE

A CALL TO ACTION NOVENA PRAYER FOR OUR CHURCH AND OUR NATION IN CONJUNCTION WITH THE NATIONS COAST TO COAST ROSARY RALLY ON OCTOBER 7. Dear brothers and sisters,

In the last few days and weeks there has been an overwhelming request made by many of our Catholic lay faithful and clergy throughout the nation for a united action of prayer in support for our Church and Nation. The time is now urgent to call upon God, through the powerful intercession of

Our Lady of the Rosary, to heal our country and

Church and return it to holiness.

Everyone from around the nation is encouraged to join ranks and to respond in a united prayerful way. This is a nationwide prayer campaign called the “Novena for Our Nation.” United, we will pray the

very powerful 54 Day Rosary Novena consisting of

27 rosaries of Petition (Just 5 decades each day, with the petition prayer, and Hail Holy Queen prayer, beginning with the Joyful mysteries, and the next day the Sorrowful mysteries, and on 3rd day, the Glorious mysteries and continuing in the same cycle) and then followed by 27 rosaries of thanksgiving, starting from the Feast of the Assumption on August 15 (Wednesday) to the Feast of Our Lady of the Rosary on October 7 (Sunday). This Novena of

Rosaries will conclude on the final day (Sunday October 7, 2018) with a public combined parish Rosary procession linked up with the Coast to Coast Rosary procession at a venue to be announced. We continue to live in peace-less times with laws and court rulings in conflict with God's laws; especially the disregard for the rights of the unborn, elderly and weak in our society and the attacks on marriage and family values. Society and many levels

of government continue to demonstrate intolerance towards biblically based religious belief and practice, and consequently persecution of traditional religious expression has reached historically high levels. We are in a Spiritual Battle. We are called upon to help turn our country back towards God. We will accomplish that through prayer; prayer that can change hearts, change families, change our communities and change our country. The 54-day Rosary Novena of our Nation initiative provides an opportunity to respond in a positive manner. There is no stronger weapon in this Spiritual Battle than the Rosary and we have the words of the saints to confirm this:

St. Louis de Montfort once wrote:

“When people say the Rosary together, it is far more formidable to the devil, than one said privately. Because in this public prayer, it is an army that is attacking him. He can often overcome the prayer of an individual, but if this prayer is joined to other Christians, the devil has much more trouble in getting the best of it.”

Pope Blessed Pius IX said: “Give me an army saying the Rosary and I will conquer the World.”

Fr. Stephen Imbarrato, Pastoral staff; Priest for life said: “This 54 Day Novena for our Nation and National Rosary Rally comes at a critical and most serious time of crisis in our country. I cannot think of a more powerful response on the part of Catholics than to pray, fast, and come together for the conversion of our nation.”

Our Parish of St. Anthony of Padua will be reciting the Novena Rosary every day in our Chapel from Wednesday August 15, after the 7am Mass, and

thereafter Monday to Friday at same time. In

addition, we will have a Holy Hour of Adoration of the Most Blessed Sacrament on Sunday’s during the

54-day Novena from 2.30pm to 3.30pm with the

Novena Rosary and Chaplet of Divine Mercy. Copies of the 54-day Rosary Novena prayer leaflet is available in the Church and Chapel or at the Parish Rectory.

I would encourage you to please join in this national effort of prayer and be part of this wonderful initiative. With and through Mary and the Rosary, Jesus Christ will prevail and win the battle for souls. We will place a smile on the face of Our Lady as we pray for America to encounter Jesus Christ through the rosary.”

May God bless you and reward you. Fr. Brendan

LLAMADO A LA ACCIÓN

LA ORACIÓN NOVENA PARA NUESTRA IGLESIA Y NUESTRA NACIÓN EN COLABORACION CON EL DESFILE DEL ROSARIO COSTA A COSTA PARA EL 7 DE OCTUBRE.

Queridos hermanos y hermanas:

Estamos llamados a ayudar a volver a nuestro país hacia Dios.

P. Brendan
