Multiply general rules
Section A: General programme rules
1. General
How these rules impact you as a Multiply member
These rules will apply to and bind all Multiply members, who must live in the Republic of South Africa (RSA).
When you participate in the Multiply programme, it means you have read, understood and agreed to these rules. As we (Momentum) amend them from time to time at our discretion, it is your responsibility to make sure you understand and stay up to date with these rules and any changes to them.
How we apply these rules
We can apply these rules at our sole discretion.
If we fail to enforce any of these rules, it does not mean the rule(s) is invalid.
If one or more of these rules is invalid, unlawful or unenforceable, it has no impact on the validity of the other rules, which will stay valid.
2. Definitions
Who are we talking about?
“Adult dependant” refers to a dependant who:
– is a Multiply member,
– is 18 years of age or older, and
– is listed as a dependant of the principal member, on that principal member‟s medical scheme membership.
“Child dependant” refers to a dependant who:
– is a Multiply member‟s or partner‟s natural child, or is a member‟s or partner‟s legally adopted child or a child in the process of being legally adopted, or a child who has been placed in the custody of a member or his/her partner by arrangement with an authority and for whom a member is responsible for family care and support, and
– is under the age of 18.
Please note: Child dependants of an adult dependant do not qualify for Multiply‟s gym benefits.
“Client” refers to:
– a Momentum Group policyholder (a natural person, not an entity), who has purchased any product from Momentum Group and its associated retirement funds that offer Multiply as a voluntary benefit, or
– a principal member of a qualifying medical scheme, or
– a member of a qualifying group.
“Member(s)” or “you”/”your” refers to a client with a Multiply membership.
“Momentum Group” refers to Momentum Group Limited (registration number 1904/002186/06), a company registered under the company laws of the RSA.
“Momentum” refers to Momentum Interactive (Pty) Ltd (Registration number 1971/006353/07), a company
registered under the company laws of the RSA, wholly owned by Momentum Group.
“Multiply” refers to an incentivised health and wellness programme under which Momentum negotiates and gets special rates from various service providers for the benefit of Multiply members.
“Partner” refers to a person with whom a Multiply
member has a committed and serious relationship similar to a marriage. This relationship is based on objective criteria of mutual dependency and a shared and common household, irrespective of the gender of either party.
“Products” refers to insurance, investment and retirement products offered by Momentum Group and its associated retirement funds that offer Multiply as a voluntary benefit.
“Qualifying groups” refers to all entities that have entered into agreement with Momentum to offer Multiply as a voluntary benefit to all eligible members,
employees or clients.
“Qualifying medical schemes” refers to Momentum Health, restricted medical schemes administered by Momentum Medical Scheme Administrators (MMSA) and other medical schemes that have entered into agreement with Momentum to offer Multiply membership to the scheme members.
“Service provider” or “Multiply partner” refers to a company with which Momentum enters into agreement to offer discounts and rewards/benefits on various products and services through the Multiply programme.
“Single parent” refers to a member whose dependants are children dependants only.
In these rules, the singular always refers to plural, as well the other way around.
3. Multiply membership Who qualifies?
The following individuals qualify for voluntary Multiply membership:
– Principal members of qualifying medical schemes.
– Base Multiply Member
– A Momentum policyholder and his/her partner, who own products that have been in force for at least 12 months, with a combined minimum contractual monthly contribution of R150 (excluding the Multiply contribution).
– A Momentum policyholder and his/her partner, who own, products that have been in force for less than 12 months, with a combined minimum contractual monthly contribution of R300 (excluding the Multiply
contribution).
– A Momentum policyholder, who owns a single-premium (or lump sum) investment policy. Certain minimum values apply, which may change from time to time. (Minimum values match those of the underlying product house).
– A Momentum policyholder, with a paid-up or open-ended Momentum Group product. Certain minimum paid-up and open-ended values apply, which may change from time to time. (Minimum values match those of the underlying product house).
When there are multiple policyholders on a single Momentum Group product, only one of those
policyholders qualifies to join Multiply with that policy as the qualifying policy. If the other policyholders also want to join Multiply, they can qualify by becoming
policyholders on separate Momentum Group products.
We reserve the right to, from time to time, via a special offer, allow clients to join Multiply without owning any qualifying product.
4. More qualifying criteria: partner and dependants
Qualifying medical scheme members:
– The partner and child dependants on the Multiply membership must be identical to those on the medical scheme.
– A member may not have more or less persons on the Multiply membership than on the medical scheme.
– In special circumstances and at our discretion, a member may add a partner that is not on the medical scheme if:
• the partner is insured on another of the member‟s Momentum Group products, or
• the partner has his/her own Momentum Group product.
Clients and qualifying group members: A member may add a partner if:
– the partner is an insured life on a member‟s product, or
– the partner has his/her own product. 5. Factors that affect your membership Marriage
If a single member marries a non-Multiply member, the status level that the single member reached in that particular calendar year will be maintained for the rest of the calendar year – as a family membership (see section 7). If the number of points earned by a member and partner are not sufficient to meet the family threshold for the particular status at the end of the calendar year, the Multiply status will be adjusted accordingly at the start of the following calendar year.
If two Multiply members marry each other, they have the option to either keep two separate Multiply memberships or to cancel one of the memberships and upgrade the other to a family membership. If they choose to upgrade, we will transfer the Multiply points accrued in that calendar year before the partner cancelled his/her membership to the upgraded membership. However, please note that the following points are specific to a membership and we will only award them once:
– points for joining Multiply,
– points for receiving medical statements electronically, and
– any ad hoc points that we may award from time to time.
Divorce and death
If a member dies or gets divorced, we will cancel all the benefits of the member‟s partner, except if:
– the partner has an existing Momentum Group policy or qualifying medical scheme membership and joins Multiply within two months of the date of the divorce/ death, or
– the partner does not have an existing Momentum Group policy or qualifying medical scheme membership, but takes out a new Momentum policy, as well as joins Multiply within two months of the date of divorce/death, or
– the partner marries another Multiply member within two months of the date of divorce/death.
If the partner takes out a Multiply contract of his/her own or joins another Multiply contract as a partner, we will transfer the Multiply points that the partner accrued during that calendar year to the new contract.
6.
When does your membership start?Your Multiply membership will start either:
• the first day of the calendar month in which we get your application, or
• the first day of the month immediately following the month in which we got your application.
7.
Types of membershipWhen you apply for Multiply membership, you could qualify for one of three types of Multiply memberships:
1. Single member – a member with no dependants.
2. Family of two – a member with one dependant.
The dependant could be a member‟s partner or a child dependant (for a single parent).
3. Family of three or more - a member with two or more dependants. All the dependants could be child dependants (for a single parent) or one dependant could be a member‟s partner and the remaining dependants could be child dependants.
8. Membership fees How it works
Once we have approved your application, you have to start paying a monthly Multiply membership fee. We can increase these fees at our discretion.
Generally, Multiply fees increase every year on 1 January. The increase varies from year to year, based on the current inflation rate and cost experience. The membership fees will differ according to the
membership type. A member (individual business) or a company (group business) can pay the fees.
Individual business:
– You can pay premiums monthly in advance.
– You can pay premiums via debit order.
If we get your membership application after the selected monthly fee deduction date, and y o u r membership commences on the first day of the calendar month in which we got the application, w e w i l l d e d u c t a double monthly fee on the following deduction date.
– Please note: If you fail to pay the monthly fee on the deduction date, your membership will be cancelled and all membership contributions and benefits forfeited immediately.
Group business
– A business can pay premiums monthly in advance or monthly in arrears.
– A business can pay premiums via a company debit order or stop order.
– If we get the membership application after the selected monthly fee deduction date, and the membership commences on the first day of the calendar month in which we got the application, w e
will deduct a double monthly fee on the following deduction date, irrespective whether it is in arrears or in advance.
business will forfeit all membership contributions and benefits immediately following non-payment of the monthly fees via a company debit order.
– Also note: We will cancel memberships and a business will forfeit all membership contributions and benefits forfeited after two consecutive months of non-payment of the monthly fees for companies paying via stop order.
There may be extra fees for using certain partners or benefits. These fees can include:
activation fees, and
monthly fees.
9.
Membership card To activate your Multiply membership, you will get a membership card. The terms and conditions of the membership card are incorporated into these rules, as if expressly stated in this document. If there are any inconsistencies between the terms and
conditions of the membership card and these rules, these rules will prevail.
You can only use the membership card for identification purposes and may not use it for any cash or credit transactions.
You must present the membership card to the service providers to access the provider benefits and for identity purposes as a qualifying Multiply member. If you do not want to make use of the provider benefits, you do not have to show your membership card or identify yourself.
Please note: We reserve the right to cancel your Multiply membership if you use the membership card in a fraudulent or unauthorised manner.
10.
Status levelsMultiply offers five status levels: Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum and Private Club. The higher your status, the more benefits you can enjoy.
You can only move to a higher status by earning Multiply points, which include Start up/Online, Physical health and Wellness, Physical fitness and Financial fitness points.
At the end of every calendar year, you will retain the status you have earned in that calendar year for the duration of the next calendar year. For example, if a you earned sufficient points in a calendar year to achieve Gold status, then you will remain on Gold status for the duration of the next calendar year. Please note: Your status will be adjusted to a lower level if you did not earn enough points to maintain your current status in a calendar year.
We may, at our sole discretion, place a new member, who was previously a member of a comparable lifestyle rewards programme, on a comparable status (points will not be allocated) for the remainder of the calendar year, provided the member gives us a points statement not older than one month. Members will retain this status for the duration of the following calendar year. The member will start earning Multiply points from the date of joining Multiply and will earn roll-over points, based on the Multiply points accumulated during the calendar year from the date of joining Multiply. The member must earn the required points during the following calendar year to make sure that his/her Multiply status is maintained in subsequent years.
11.
Multiply pointsWe use two sets of point thresholds to determine your Multiply status:
Bronze Silver Gold Platinum Private Club (And a Multiply member for 2 years) Single* 0 25 000 45 000 60 000 75 000 Family** 0 50 000 85 000 110 000 130 000 * Single threshold - applies to single members and/or single
parents.
** Family threshold - applies to families of two when the partner is the dependant or families of three when the p artner is one of the dependants.
The number of adults (i.e. member and partner) on the Multiply membership will determine the number of points required to move up the status levels. To illustrate this, what follows are examples of the points that different
combinations of Multiply membership will earn:
Single member: The member earns points and the single threshold applies.
Family of two: If the dependant is the partner, then both the member and partner earn points and the family threshold applies. If the dependant is a child (single parent), then the member earns points and the single threshold as shown i n t h e p r e v i o u s t a b l e applies [except in the case of child vaccinations (up to five years of age) and annual dental check-ups (12 years and younger)].
Family of three: If one of the dependants is the partner, then both the member and partner earn points and the family threshold as shown in the previous table applies. If the dependants are all children (single parent), then the member earns points and the single threshold as shown in the previous table applies [except in the case of child vaccinations (up to five years of age) and annual dental check-ups (12 years and younger)]. To clarify: if the dependant of a single parent is a five-year old child, who gets a vaccination and undergoes a dental check-up, the single threshold will apply.
Allocation of points
We will award physical health and wellness points to members of qualifying medical schemes and/or qualifying groups.
Alternatively, members will earn physical health and wellness points for tests done through relevant service providers. We will award certain early detection/risk reduction points (points for HIV, cholesterol, glucose and prostate screening) to Momentum Myriad policyholders for tests performed at the underwriting stage.
We will only allocate points for HIV tests once a member (who is a qualifying medical scheme member) has undergone an HIV test and completed the online declaration form on the Multiply website.
12.

14.

1. the reinstatement occurs within three months of the date of cancellation, and you pay all outstanding fees that would have accrued during that cancelled period,
or
2. if the cancellation was due to the termination of a qualifying product, you take up a new qualifying product, and you apply for Multiply membership within three months.
If you do not reinstate your Multiply membership within three months of the date of cancellation, you may not join Multiply within the following three-month period (calculated from the date of cancellation).

These amendments may include, but are not limited to, changes to the amounts and percentages referred to in these rules, as well as changes to the Multiply programme. Momentum Multiply programme rules
Section B: Points and status rules
1. Why we have a points and status system
Multiply rewards you with great discounts for doing the everyday things you should be doing to ensure a healthy and happy life. By using a points system, we incentivise you to maintain or enhance a healthy lifestyle. This is how it works:
Follow a physically and financially healthy lifestyle. You get access to physical and financial wellness tools, either for free or at discounted prices.
Earn Multiply points for using these tools to look after your wellbeing and enjoy great rewards/benefits on a wide range of products and services.
Improve your Multiply status level by earning more points, which means you get access to even bigger rewards.
2. The status levels
Multiply offers five status levels. The higher your status, the more benefits you can enjoy.
You can only move up to a higher status level by earning Multiply points.
The point threshold for the different status levels, as shown in the following table, differs for a single or family
membership.
Bronze Silver Gold Platinum Private Club (And a Multiply member for 2 years) Single* 0 25 000 45 000 60 000 75 000 Family** 0 50 000 85 000 110 000 130 000 *Single threshold – applies to single members and/or single parents. More details in section 3.
**Family threshold – applies to families of two when the partner is the dependant, or families of three when the partner is one of the dependants. More details in the following section.
3. Types of membership and the status levels
The number of adults on the Multiply membership willdetermine the number of points required to move up the status levels:
Single member: A member earns points and the single threshold applies.
Family of two: If the dependant is the partner, then both the member and partner earn points and the family threshold applies. If the dependant is a child (single parent), then the member earns points and the single threshold applies. Family of three: If one of the dependants is the partner, then both the member and partner earn points and the family threshold applies. If the dependants are all children (single parent), then the member earns points
and the single threshold applies.
4.
Status level rules
Members may only move to a higher status by earning Multiply points, in the ways set out in point 6 of this section of the document.
Joining Multiply and moving up through the status levels
As a new member, you will be placed on Bronze status. The more points you earn, the higher the status you will reach.
The different levels are: Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum and Private Club status.
To move up a level, you must earn enough points to reach the relevant status threshold.
Multiply status is guaranteed for a set time only
Your Multiply status will remain in place from the time you earn the relevant status level until the end of the following calendar year, unless:
your membership changes,
the point structure of the Multiply status levels changes, or
you have not earned enough points to maintain your current status. For example: if you have earned sufficient points in a calendar year to achieve Gold status, then you will remain on Gold status for the duration of the next calendar year.
Your status will, however, be adjusted to a lower status if you did not earn enough points to maintain your current status in a calendar year.
When you move from another rewards programme to Multiply
Momentum may, at its sole discretion, place a new member, who was previously a member of a similar lifestyle rewards programme, on a comparable status level (points will not be allocated) for the remainder of the calendar year, provided the member gives us a points statement not older than one month.
You will stay on this status level for the rest of the following calendar year.
You will start earning Multiply points from the date of joining Multiply and will earn roll-over points based on the points you accumulated during the calendar year from the date of joining Multiply.
You must earn the required points during the following calendar year to make sure that you can stay on the same status level.
Some rewards/benefits are dependent on the status level The details of some Multiply rewards depend on your status level. If your Multiply status changes, the rules relating to how you can use the reward/benefit may also change.
5. Who may earn points?
Principal members and spouse/partners earn points for activities on Multiply.
Child dependants may also earn points for specific activities on Multiply. See the following section.
Adult dependants do not earn points.
6. How to earn points
The Multiply points categories are:

Get Financially Well Limits to earning points
Please note that there are annual limits to:

You can earn 6 000 Multiply points a year for completing two fitness assessments in a calendar year.
You can complete a fitness assessment through Virgin Life Care for only R220 For myvirginactive tracker
You can earn up to 3 000 Multiply points a year by measuring key health indicators with the myvirginactive tracker throughout the year.
The tracker is a personal measurement tool in every Virgin Active Club for capturing and monitoring your health measurements, thereby helping you to achieve your health and fitness goals.
Register on the tracker by following the easy prompts.
Once registered, you can take your vital measurements (blood pressure, heart rate, weight and body fat percentage) as often as you like.
Benefit rules
The benefit is based on the standard one-year Virgin Active retail membership rate, which varies by club type, and does not apply to any membership specials that Virgin Active runs.
Existing Virgin Active members may take up the Multiply benefit after they have served the relevant Virgin Active notice period.
A principal member and partner may be members of different health club groups (i.e. Virgin Active and Planet Fitness), but neither of them may belong to both health club groups simultaneously through Multiply.
If you use the Multiply Virgin Active benefit, you cannot join Planet Fitness at the discounted Multiply rates. However, if you join Planet Fitness as a self-paid member, you will be able to earn Multiply points for training at Planet Fitness clubs.
You need to visit the gym at least twice a month (24 times a year) to enjoy the Save as you Gym™ benefit. We measure your visits over a rolling 12-month period. If you do not reach the 24-visit requirement in 12 months, your monthly discount will reduce to a 10% discount on your gym fees. To reactivate your Save as you Gym™, you do not need to pay a reactivation fee, but you will have to increase your visits to reach the minimum 24 visits over a rolling 12-month period. When you have reached the 24-visit requirement, your Save as you Gym™ benefit will be reactivated.
We will only record one visit per day for the purpose of earning Multiply points and for the minimum gym visit requirement.
You are responsible for making sure that the gym accurately records your visits. If the Virgin Active system is offline, you must ask that your visit is recorded manually in the register at reception.
You can check the number of gym visits recorded for a particular month, as well as the number of visits in the last 12-month rolling period by logging onto www.momentum.co.za/multiply or www.virginactive.co.za.
We will pause the 12-month rolling period only if you cannot gym for a period of six months or longer. You must inform us in advance if you will not be able to attend the gym. You must submit the request not to have your gym membership cancelled in writing, along with the required proof. We will make no exceptions or allowances for illness or travel for less than two months when we determine the monthly discounts.
If you change club type during a month, we will only charge the adjusted monthly fee from the following month.
A transfer between health clubs or a membership downgrade/upgrade requires a one-off administration fee, as determined by Virgin Active. Please call them on 0860 200 911 for the relevant fee.
If you have a Club membership and want to pay an one-off visit to another club that is not your home club, you must pay a guest fee. Guest fees vary from club to club, so please enquire at the particular club‟s reception for details about their guest fee.
Base Multiply members, who are members of Virgin Active of their own, will earn points for gym visits if they request this from us.
A financial adviser or consultant cannot register on your behalf. Paying for this benefit
You must pay all recurring membership fees monthly in advance.
Multiply will cancel your gym membership if you do not pay the recurring monthly gym fee.
Multiply will reinstate your gym membership if:
the reinstatement occurs within two months of the date of cancellation, and
you have paid all unpaid recurring gym fees accrued during the cancellation period. (We will base unpaid recurring fees during the period of cancellation on the standard monthly recurring fee for the club type.)
