The aspects of care provided by PA’s under this document shall be in connection with providing medical and mental health services to clients at Origins, drug rehab facility in South Padre Island, Texas. Services provided include, but are not limited to, medically assisted detoxification, management of addiction treatment,
management of acute illnesses, management of stable conditions, assist in
evaluating client for mental disorders, management of acute illnesses, management of stable conditions, assess patient for the presence and management of at-risk
complexity and acuity of the client’s condition, the PA education, the training, experience and preparation of the PA as adjudged by the delegating physician. Consistent with Sec. 204.202 SCOPE OF PRACTICE of the Texas Statutes’ regarding PA practice, services provided include:
A. Interviews and takes client history; requests/reviews health records
B. Performs physical and mental status exams; orders/interprets laboratory tests and other evaluation tools
C. Formulates diagnoses; prescribes treatment; develops a plan of care D. Dispenses and prescribes medications
E. Monitors clients’ conditions and behavior
F. Responsible for the complete, legible documentation of all client encounters consistent with state and federal laws
G. Performs administrative duties, e.g. mentoring/training, as assigned by supervising physician
H. Refer clients to appropriate clinic, health care provider or specialist after reviewing with the supervising physician
I. Clinical on-‐call as determined by the supervising physician
J. May provide hospital rounds as determined by the supervising physician and consistent with hospital practice regulation.
