Bus medium: unshielded 2-wire cable for data and energy

Length of line: 100 m, extension via repeater

Number of slaves: 31 per AS-i line

ASI lines: up to 10 masters via RS485 by multi- master

Number of I/O`s: 124 inputs + 124 outputs

Access: master-slave, single master operation

Addressing: definite address in the slave (EEPROM),

(7)

Basic data of AS-Interface

Basic data of AS-Interface

User data: 4 bits data (cyclical), 4 bits parameter (acyclic)

Cycle time: max. 5 ms

Error protection: identification and repetition of distorted messages

Modulation: AMI (alternate mark inversion code)

Data rate: 156 - 166 Kbits/s

These basic data guarantee high operational reliability with high excess gain.

Operational reliability

Operational reliability

Transmission of data and energy

Each AS-Interface message is monitored in the receiver with regard to parity bit and several other independent values.

This guarantees an extremely high safety for the detection of one or several errors.

A repetition of the message takes 150 µs and is included in the cycle time of 5 ms.

AS-Interface can be used under extreme conditions (e.g. panel mounting, lower ceilings etc.) without any problem.

(31)

What savings can be made with AS-Interface?
