4.1 Box stalls and standing stalls

Box stalls and standing stalls are sufficiently large for the horses living there (average-sized horse 10’ x 10’ (3 m X 3 m));

When several boarded horses are turned out together, a solid door or a buffer zone is required. This may be inside the paddock or may cover the entire site;

For horses kept permanently outdoors: the paddock must be equipped with a shelter a mini-mum of 9’ (3 m) in height. It may be natural or constructed. In this case, it must possess at least: 1 wall, a roof, and one or several openings measuring at least 4’ (1.2 m) per horse (5 horses = 20’ (6.1 m) total openings. Feed tubs and water bowls must be installed outside the shelter;

For horses kept permanently outdoors, the paddock must be equipped with at least one auto-matic water bowl (with floater) or with one or several water buckets with a total capacity equal to the daily water requirements for each horse;

6.2 Riding rings (except breeding farm excluding those used for breaking in colts)

As a guideline, for horses we are speaking of a minimum of 60’ X 100’ (18.3 m X 30.5 m); As a guideline, we are speaking of a minimum de 50’ X 50’ (15.2 m X 15.2 m);

Fences are clean and in good condition, with posts on the outside;

In this case, the centre element could be made with a different material;

6.3 If there is an indoor arena, it must satisfy the following criteria: OP

As a guideline, a common size is 60’ X 120’ (18.3 m X 36.6 m) for horses and 60’ X 60’ (18.3 m X 18.3 m) for ponies;

The arena may have smooth walls without protrusions to a total height of at least 7’ (2.1 m) and/or be equipped with a kickboard or fence to a minimum height of 4’ (1.2 m) allowing horses to be kept at a distance of at least 6" (15 cm) from the arena walls to a height of at least 7’ (2.1 m). Protuberances of more than one inch such as window frames, garage doors, grates, etc., must be corrected to avoid any possible injury to riders and horses. A layout which dis-tances horses from the wall is preferable.

For openings of more than 8" (20.3 cm), a protection must be put in place (fence, cord, etc.); Doors open easily;

6.4 Permanent and temporary observation areas (indoor arena or outdoor riding ring) OP

Observation area for spectators is safe and comfortable, installed behind a rigid and solid protection (kick-board, fence, grate) or in an adjacent room with a window. For special occa-sions, when the centre receives a larger group of people, it is acceptable to define the area with cones at least 24” (61 cm) high, placed at 3’ (0.9 m) intervals from each other, and at least 6’ (1.8 m) from the spectators. A cord with ribbons placed at intervals of 3’ (0.9 m) could also be used. This is a temporary measure used only for the duration of the event.

6.5 Departure and arrival area

First aid kit for humans1

First aid kits must be found in an easy accessible location and they must be available at all times. The establishment must have an adequate number of first aid kits (the time required to reach a kit must be less than 5 minutes).

Definition:

Kit: First aid kit consisting of a protective case divided into compartments to store the first aid mate-rial required in the present rulebook, and on the outside of which there is a cross large enough to be recognizable.

The first aid kit must contain the following items:

A first aid manual approved by an organization recognized in first aid material;

A list indicating the telephone numbers for ambulance, CLSC or 2 doctors, hospital, police, fire department;

Paper and pencil; Thermometer; Tweezers;
