Term Explanation

Classification of object type

On the top level, object types are classified into three categories: Radio Network Related Measurement, Transport Network Related Measurement, Hardware Platform Related Measurement.

Object type

Object types are located at the second level of the document structure.

One object type contains one or more function subsets.

Function Subset

Function Subsets are located at the third level of the document structure.

One function subset contains one or more counters but belongs to only one object type.

Counter

Counters are located at the fourth level of the document structure.

Counters are the basic elements of performance measurement. One counter can belong to only one function subset.

Counters Counters contained in a function subset. Counter

Relationship

A table that lists parent counters and their child counters in a table. Note that the child counters listed in the table cover only typical scenarios. That is, some scenarios are not covered by any counter. Therefore, the value of a parent counter is larger than or equal to the sum of the values of its child counters. Some counters may not be involved in any counter relationship.

Counter Counter ID A string of digits that uniquely identifies a counter. Counter Name Name of a counter. It is composed of a string of uppercase

letters, lowercase letters, and dots. Counter

Description

A phrase that provides a simple description about a counter. Description Detailed description about a counter.

Measurement Point

Condition for triggering counter measurement. Formula Relationship among counters.

Unit Unit of a counter.

Related Features Features related to a counter are listed in feature ID and feature name. A counter is used to estimate related features. Related features are listed as follows in different scenarios:

l If a counter has no related features, no features are listed. l A counter has related features,

–If this counter applies only to GSM, UMTS, LTE, or SingleRAN, the features are related to such RAT. –If this counter applies to multiple RATs in GSM,

UMTS, LTE, and SingleRAN, the features are a set of features related to all associated RATs. Only the feature IDs and feature names of the features for related RATs are listed.

Overview

An RRC connection is a Uu interface connection for carrying user signaling messages. The setup success rate of RRC connections in a cell represents the capability of the cell to provide RRC connections for users. The RRC.Setup.Cell function subset measures the number of RRC connection setup requests, number of RRC connection setup attempts, and number of successful RRC connection setups in a cell. The setup success rate of RRC connections can be calculated on the basis of the reported counters. Figure 1-1 shows the measurement points in an RRC connection setup procedure.

Measurement Points

As shown at point A in Figure 1-2, the corresponding counter is incremented by 1 each time the eNodeB receives an RRC Connection Request message from a UE. The counters are measured as follows:

The L.RRC.ConnReq.Msg is incremented by 1 each time the eNodeB receives an RRC Connection Request message.

The L.RRC.ConnReq.Att is incremented by 1 only when the eNodeB receives a non-retransmitted RRC Connection Request message.

Description

The counters measure the number of successful RRC connection setups for different causes in a cell. That is, the counters measure the number of RRC Connection Setup Complete messages received by the eNodeB from a UE. The RRC Connection Setup Complete message is an RRC signaling message sent from a UE to the eNodeB. The message is used to inform the eNodeB that the RRC connection setup is completed and informs the eNodeB of the carried NAS signaling information and the information about PLMN selection.
