hatever your age, Nebraska’s community colleges are where futures begin, and those futures are very bright. You can begin your future at anytime – now or next year or even several years from now. Wherever life takes you, be assured that the community colleges will be there to help you achieve your career goals, even though those goals may change several times over the years. The community colleges can offer many advantages –flexible schedules, affordable tuition and fees, statewide access, smaller classes, and outstanding faculty. You also will find a variety of options for taking courses, ranging from the traditional classroom to distance learning opportunities through telecourses and the Internet. Classes are easily transferred to many four-year schools, and there are many extracurricular activities typically found at four-year institutions. And, most importantly, you will receive a quality education at a community college.
If your career goal is to transfer to a four-year college or university or if you want a career in one of the fastest-growing technical fields, you will find it at a Nebraska community college.
Flexible Schedules:
Community colleges offer day, evening and weekend classes on full-time or part-time schedules. In addition, a number of telecourses and Internet courses are available any time of day or night.Affordable Tuition and Fees:
Community college tuition and
fees are about one-half of the cost of attending one of Nebraska’s public four-year institutions.Statewide Access:
There are 13 major community college campuses and 13 major education centers that serve more than 300 communities.Outstanding Faculty:
Academic course instructors have master’s
degrees or higher in their disciplines. Technical course instructors have both formal and vocational education, along with knowledge of the skills business and industry need. All community college faculty foster a learning environment in small classes where students receive the personal attention they need.Class Options:
Nebraska’s community colleges offer many options for continuing your education. In addition to courses that meet in a traditional classroom setting (both on- and off-campus), you can take video courses and interactive telecourses in communities throughout the state, as well as courses offered over the Internet, which are available to people around the world. Nebraska’s community colleges also offer online registration.Transferability of Credits:
Through the Nebraska Transfer Initiative, courses have been identified to transfer to all Nebraska public and most private four-year colleges and universities.Extracurricular Activities:
If you are looking for a more
traditional college experience, community colleges offer a range of activities, including music, theater, student government, a variety of special interest clubs and organizations, and community service opportunities. Phi Theta Kappa is the scholastic honor society for community colleges and recognizes academic, leadership and service achievements. Many PTK students also may receive scholarships at a number of four-year colleges in Nebraska.Quality Education:
The most important reason thatNebraska’s community colleges are so great is that they provide quality education. Whether you transfer your credits or begin a career, you can be proud of the education you received. If you want to begin working right after graduation, we’ll help you find that dream job, with good pay and benefits and the chance to advance.
Are you ready to
begin your future?
If so, turn the page and take a look
at the charts that follow. They
will show programs, focuses and
services offered at all campuses of
Nebraska’s community colleges.
