The different types of Cortado licenses are optimally designed for their different areas of application. Different licenses can be purchased according to system require-ments.The use of licensable products could function for Annual License Model as fol-lows:
1. A demo software is downloaded from our website for the desired product. Use for 30 days.
2. A full license with 30-day test phase is purchased.
3. The full Annual License is activated (with in the 30-day test phase) for use for one year.
4. Annual renewal of user rights with purchase of a new annual license, including the update service.
Introduction
ta do A G 2013License Manager
License Manager can be opened in the Microsoft Management Console (MMC). That means that all of the advantages of the MMC can also be used for licensing and dis-tributing license keys. In particular, license keys can be entered and managed at a central point for remote servers (Illus. 1). The server on which the license keys are entered can be any Windows server in the network on which a ThinPrint or Cortado product is installed. Click on ADD COMPUTER in the LICENSES context menu (arrow in Illus. 1), to display the license keys located on a remote server.
Illus. 1
Moreover, the different colors of the keys show you immediately which license keys are valid and which not. The color shows the status of the license. An exclamation point next to the key shows that the subscription will expire in four weeks.
■ Green key: license is activated
■ Yellow key: license is valid but not activated ■ Red key: license is invalid
■ Yellow exclamation point (to the left of a key): subscription will expire
You can of course install and activate the license keys with unattended installation. This also applies for remote computers.
The advantages of the License Manager:
■ Central license management
■ Display of license status (active/valid/invalid) ■ Simple license key distribution to remote computers ■ Indication of expired update subscriptions
■ Central unattended installation and activation of license keys

Testing software and activating licenses
Demo licenses
Free demo versions of the various ThinPrint products can be downloaded from:
www.thinprint.com/ PRODUCTS OVERVIEW <product name>. You can locate the free demo version of Cortado Corporate Server atwww.cortado.comunder PROD -UCTS CORTADO CORPORATE SERVER. Clicking the DEMO VERSION button opens a form requesting your contact information. Once the terms of the user license agreement have been accepted and the form has been filled out completely, you can download the desired software. Demo license keys are already integrated into the products, so that you can install and test them immediately. In this case, select DEMO-MODUS dur-ing installation (see Illus. 2).
Illus. 2
Demo licenses are fully functional for 30 days but cannot be activated. With Thin-Print products, output printed with ThinThin-Print Output Gateway displays a watermark. Once you have completed testing the software, you can purchase a full version from your nearest Cortado Reseller or Distributor. It is not necessary to uninstall the demo software version and its license key(s).
Caution! License Manager offers the possibility to remove or destroy license
keys. Be aware however, that once license keys have been destroyed they can not be reentered on the same machine – not even if they had been previously activated.
Only use this option in the License Manager, if you wish to delete licenses irre-vocably on this machine. For example, if you wish to transfer User or Server Access license keys from one machine to another in order to split them between several servers.
Testing software and activating licenses
ta do A G 2013Productive licenses
In contrast to a demo installation, when you install a purchased product, you enter a
productive (or full) license keys. To do so, select ENTERLICENSEKEY(S) during instal-lation (see Illus. 2). If you have already installed the software as a demo version and now wish to install the productive license/s without reinstalling the software, simply open License Manager. To do this on ThinPrint products you open THINPRINT CONFIG -URATION and on Cortado Corporate Server: START ALL PROGRAMS CORTADO COR -PORATE SERVER LICENSEMANAGER.
Entering a license – Select ADD LICENSE KEY in the context menu (Illus. 3); a new window opens (Illus. 4). Enter a license key here (case sensitive!).

Reactivation
If a fundamental system modification has been made to a computer on which a Thin-Print license has been activated (e.g., domain change or installation of Active Direc-tory Services), it could invalidate the activations. In such cases, the licenses are valid for 30 days and must be reactivated within that time.
Reactivation of licenses is also necessary if the software is to be run on a different server (e.g., if the first server has been replaced), because the server will automati-cally calculate new registration keys. In this case use Enterprise Portal. Under ADMIN CONTACTACTIVATIONTEAM (Illus. 19) you will find a form. Enter here the acti-vation key, the new registry key, and a brief explanation why reactivating.

Software updates
ta do A G 2013 Illus. 19Within one working day, the new activation and subscription keys will be displayed in Enterprise Portal (for example in the CUSTOMER VIEW).
Update with simultaneous server upgrade (for ThinPrint products)
Updates of ThinPrint licenses are often done together with a move to a newer oper-ation system generoper-ation. From ThinPrint's point of view please note: There are
server-based licenses which can only be activated on 32-bit systems - particularly
the license types THPR, THPS and TRDP.2 For these licenses it's necessary to buy
new license keys if an upgrade to 64-bit systems is required. Here, the old licenses
will be credited in part. All other license types are unaffected.
If, while updating to the current version, you wish to simultaneously upgrade the servers without the need for a license change, proceed as follows:
■ Install new ThinPrint version on the new server
■ During the installation, select DEMO MODE (printing with watermark)
■ Enter and activate your old licenses in License Manager ■ Then enter your subscription keys (printing without watermark)
Software updates
You can download the new version of the desired software here:
www.cortado.com/software.
Note! If you have accidentally destroyed a license key, you can apply for a
replacement from Cortado. To do this you need the license key, the registration key and the 4-digit code, as shown in the appendix (see section Removing or
destroying a license key, Page 20).

To perform a software update, the following preconditions must be met:
■ the license must have a current update subscription available (see below) ■ the subscription key must have been entered in License Manager (see section
Initial installation of the subscription key).
If these conditions have been met, run the installation program Setup.exe for the respective software.3
Update subscription
A valid update subscription authorizes the use of the latest software versions, without the need to purchase new licenses. You can get an overview of the validity period of your licenses in Enterprise Portal (for example, in CUSTOMER VIEW) under SERVICE RUNTIME (see Illus. 20).
Illus. 20
A yellow exclamation mark will appear before expiration next to the green icon of the license key in License Manager (Illus. 1, Page 5).
If you have annual license, you can perform a software update within the validity period of the license. On expiry of the one-year validity period, a new annual license can be asked for in Enterprise Portal. You can request an offer to be sent to you by clicking on the button (arrow in Illus. 20).
Licences that are not ordered on the basis of the Annual License Models usually contain a 12 months update subscription if purchased. Software updates can be per-formed within this period. To extend the validity period, you can request a non-bind-ing offer to be sent to you by clicknon-bind-ing on the button (arrow in Illus. 20).The update subscription can be renewed at any time during subscription period. At that time you can take advantage of the “Early Bird Special”, at a reduced update price.
If your subscription has already expired, then you still have six months during which to extend your update entitlement, using the “Update Service”. If the update
entitlement has not been renewed six months after the expiration of the update subscription, no further update service is possible.
3 You should also take note of the advice on updating in the manual Cortado Corporate Server Configuration and Maintenance.
Note! Even if the update subscription is renewed very early, the next
sub-scription period of course first begins after the last period has expired. Illus. 20 Cortado Enterprise Portal – renew update subscription
