What type of advertising can I do with the Marketing Package?

Advertisements on your website – Banner ads may be placed immediately, without any additional website code, on any ChamberMaster integrated module pages like the Member Business Directory, the Events calendar, Hot Deals, Member to Member Deals etc. Ads may also be placed on other non-ChamberMaster pages if the appropriate code is added by a web master.

Member listing enhancements – the member’s listing in your Business Directory may be enhanced to catch the eye of visitors in the search results and also if the visitor clicks through to the member’s information page. Priority placement in the Business Directory is also included with these enhancements.

How can I use the Marketing Package for revenue generation or adding value?

Your Marketing Package may be used with a goal to generate revenue, add value, or for other reasons not

even identified here. Here are some ideas on how to implement these two targeted goals.

Revenue generation - - Sell enhancements and/or banner ads

1. Sell year round – A dedicated staff member or volunteer should learn the software features (see “Where can I get help with the Marketing Package”), promote sales, and manage upgrades.

2. Sell during a specific time frame with a focused sales effort

a. A dedicated staff member or volunteer should learn the software features and manage upgrades (see “Where can I get help with the Marketing Package”)

b. A dedicated staff member or group of volunteers (i.e. Ambassadors) could be used to promote the campaign and generate sales

3. Combine year-round selling with a focused set of campaign weeks

Adding value - - bundling ads/enhancements to provide extra value

(which could justify a fee increase, but does not necessarily support independent cash flow) 1. Bundle with tiered memberships – see Tiered Membership Bundling example

2. Bundle with other sponsorships

What website prep is recommended prior to an ad campaign to ensure online value

for my members?

To ensure your members will see and understand the value of advertising on your website, consider the following ideas. 1. Drive traffic to your site

a. SEO/Search Engine Optimization - increases Chamber/member listing ranking results via search engines (Bing, Google, Yahoo, etc.) and gets members in front of more potential online

consumers

i. Contact setup@chambermaster.com for SEO integration information

b. Prominent Online Business Directory Link on all pages of the Chamber website to funnel traffic to members

i. Upper left hand link– Americans reads left to right from top to bottom

c. Funnel any ‘category’ pages (i.e. lodging, dining, shopping) to corresponding Online Business Directory Category page or QuickLink

2. Promote your website - include your web address in a. Prominent display at Chamber

b. Outgoing voice system messages – general and personal c. e-Signature in all Chamber, committee and volunteer emails d. All printed material – business cards, decals, etc

e. Promotional gimmicks, games and activities

f. Trade member upgrades for advertising promotion – radio, newspaper, etc. g. Chamber staff should proactively and reactively refer to site

If running an ad campaign, what suggestions do you have for promotion and

maintenance?

a. Clearly indicate sales timeline if condensing efforts into a certain time frame

What are the specifications for the banner ads?

Default Banner ad size:

 Business Directory (Premium Page): 480 X 60

 All other ChamberMaster Pages (Standard Page): 480 x 60

 Non-ChamberMaster Pages default to 480 x 60

Note: default size may be altered within the ChamberMaster database under Setup>General Options and Setting>Sponsorship Ads; banner code dimensions must match size in Setup

Format:

 .gif or .jpg

Rotation:

Default: Up to 5 banner ads will rotate each time you refresh a page. If you have uploaded more than 5 banners per page, each time you refresh that page the system will randomly select half of the ads to display. Change the default within the ChamberMaster database under Setup>General Options and Setting>Sponsorship Ads.

o The number of ads rotating can be changed in the ChamberMaster Setup area and in the banner code if using the banner code with ‘…&maxAds=X…’ (insert number in place of X; should correspond with number assigned in ChamberMaster Setup). See code below.

 Ads will display 4.5 seconds

ChamberMaster will provide an HTML code snippet that can be used by the Chamber's web designer to display

ChamberMaster banner ad content on non-ChamberMaster pages.

The CCID number will need to correspond with the chamber’s specific CCID.

value should be sent back to ChamberMaster for reference when banner ads are uploaded for these pages.

The &maxAds= number needs to correspond with the rotation number in ChamberMaster Setup>General Options & Settings>Sponsorship Ads (Banners)>Max Banners in Rotation.

 This section tells you how to buy a domain name for your business if needed, how to send people directly to your Online Chamber Listing from your own website, and provides the tool to generate the URL that may be copied into your own website for a link back to your Online Chamber Listing

View Homepage

 View what visitors will see when they visit your Online Chamber Listing. Click Save throughout the Webpage Info section to display the results immediately in the Chamber’s Business Directory

ADVERTISING

Hot Deals – Post ads, coupons, and specials on the Chamber’s website  What is a Hot Deal?

 Anything you want to print or post, can be considered a Hot Deal

 Don’t have to be discounts or specials; consider them free, extra exposure

 Do you do free estimates? Are you giving a seminar or special event?

 Click Add a Hot Deal and fill in the template

 The expiration date is what will show/print on the

‘coupon’, not when the ad runs which is selected at the bottom

 Toward the bottom you select the dates you want it to appear on the Chamber’s website. Benefits from selecting your own dates:

o You don’t have to worry about having to delete an ad when it is over

o You can proactively put a number of them out in queue ready to appear when you want them

 If you want to supply more information and you already have a webpage with this information, you can change the Website Address in the Hot Deal to go directly to the desired website

 Click Submit (It will go to the Chamber for approval, plan on 24-48 hours)

 The Chamber will post it for you

Job Postings – Post job postings on the Chamber’s website  Click Add a Job Posting

 Fill in the template, making sure to select the dates you want it to run at the bottom

 If you list jobs on YOUR website, you can create a general posting and change the Website Address to go directly to that page on your website

 This is also handy if you have an online application process or form

 Click Submit (It will go to the Chamber for approval, plan on 24-48 hours)

Calendar – The Chamber and Community Calendar

 You are able to see Chamber events, click on them for more detail, RSVP right online if asked and in some cases, even prepay by credit card for the event

 The Chamber needs your help keeping the Community Calendar current

 Are you involved in an organization with an upcoming event - Relay for Life, Red Cross Blood Drives?

 Click Add an Event, fill in the information and submit it to the chamber as a suggested event for the Community Calendar

How to use the material:

Copy and paste information from each of these word documents to create your own newsletter. Each newsletter is designed to be sent at a different time before, during, or after the 2-3 week campaign.

Content of the materials:

Each document contains a sample email message to your members, personal note for your dedicated member representative to use, a marketing article or tip, plus an example of a testimonial. These are real examples that other chambers have used.

Initial emails are sent to prep your members, reminding them to update their current free listing and then progresses to emails that describe banner advertising, priority placement in the business directory and enhanced member listings.

Editing the content:

The text highlighted in red indicates an area where you will need to enter your own information. However, any text may be edited for your needs. We recommend reserving one or more staff members for a 2-3 week period to assist with member questions, providing their name as a direct contact within these emails.

To change the banner ad or modify the settings for the ad that is running automatically on your site to advertise your banner sales, select Advertising->View Sponsors and select the Member Name
