Manual or Dilaer Connection ?
If you are using a Mac computer you will need to use a manual connection as we do not offer dialers for these machines. Manual tutorials can be found on the website in the setup section.
If you have a Windows machine XP, Vista or Windows 7 we recommend using the automated dialers for ease of use.
To install the dialer
In most windows mail. You can simply drag the
attachment to your desktop. If that is not the case just choose to save the attachment and choose the Desktop as the location to save in.
For Dedicated accounts just click connect ( as your server address is preloaded )For Shared VPN accounts you will need to choose a server to connect from the drop down menu. To change servers just disconnect and then choose new server and then reconnect.
Why choose manual ?
Occasionally some router/firewall/isp combinations do not like the
Dialers and will not connect. In many cases using a manual set up will solve this problem.
PPTP or L2PT ?
If you are streaming video we suggest the PPTP dialer. If you have chosen Lamnia VPN for increased security then we suggest the L2PT
However with some Operating systems and
different results to another. Therefore it is worth trying both to see which suits your setup best.
Can’t Connect Common Problems.
Nearly all our customers enjoy a trouble free connection by following the details above and using the tutorials on the web site. However there are a few common
connection issues which you will find the solutions below. Password
One of the most common connection problems is entering the username and password. Both are case sensitive. All passwords are generated by computer and use a combination of lowercase and uppercase letters and
numbers. Your email font may show a lowercase l ( as in lemon) as a number 1. Other common errors are o ( lower case o as in orange) O ( uppercase O as in Orange) and 0 ( zero )
So we do suggest if your connection fails your first solution is always to check password.
Sill Won’t Connect ?
The next most common connection is that a Firewall is blocking the connection. This can be checked and solved in several ways.
You can check this by disabling your firewall ( just for the test) and attempt a connection. If this works it is a
firewall issue.
You then need to create an exception in your firewall for the VPN.
You will find details of how to do this from your firewall support. ( we cannot offer support for creating an
exception as there are
literally hundreds of Firewall systems, however creating an exception is a common issue and straight forward to do )
You may also find a manual connection will solve a firewall blockage
Done all that and still not connecting?
If you have double checked all the above then it is likely you need to change the settings on your router. Most router settings are set to allow VPN connections however some are not.
You need port 1723 to be open and the router to allow GRE 47 Protocol. You will find all the support for this at your routers support website.
( we cannot offer support for routers or any external hardware as there are literally thousands of routers and modems, however most offer excellent support and ease to configure. )
Nope still not working ?
Visit the website you will find every question we have ever been asked in the support question for an instant answer or contact live support.
Problems after connected
I am connected to the VPN but websites say I am out of the UK ?
This problem is common with Apple OSX Leopard and Snow Leopard and is very simply to fix. Go to Network connections. Click on your
VPN ( disconnect of connected) Click on Advanced then make sure the ‘Send all Traffic over VPN’ is ticked click OK, Apply then reconnect.
Connection to slow for streaming ?
This can be caused by several issues, most which can be solved easily.
Server is busy. If this is the case simply disconnect from VPN and
choose another servers, either manually typing from the list above and reconnect.
It is important to disconnect and press apply before you attempt to reconnect or the computer will not recognize the change.
Check Connection settings Some Firewalls will slow down a VPN connection rather than blocking it. So it is worth a test with the Firewall disabled and creating an exception if required.
Some ISP’s and Operating systems prefer PPTP over L2PT or vis versa so worth checking both connections if you have slow speeds.
ISP slowing down VPN This does happen although
many ISP’s do not admit it. If you have tried all the above and your normal speed would be above 1mbs ( you need 500kbs to 800kbs for most streaming) Then contact your ISP and ask what time of day the slow down VPN and what can be done about it. Some offer an upgrade that will do this.
As we have said most ISP’s do not advertise the fact We have found one ISP that not only admits to this practice but explains the fact. We believe they are unique in only their honesty.
